That's a wonderful photo essay, Buzz. Such beautiful colors in them all. The last one at the bottom is really fascinating. The way the colors of the boat are reflected on the water is really awesome.
Thank you so much for sharing them so we can all enjoy them too.
While visiting my daughter and grandkids out of state these guys showed up in the mail there, so I surprised them by setting them up at the bar with some props. Then we went to my grandson’s football game (1st graders), which was exciting. They lost but it was a high scoring and close game.
Great shot for Hallowe'en. And I can see that the football game had to be fun to watch. I've watched my son play little kids baseball and hockey, but not football.
My Mother and I used to travel around the country and I was always the driver. Except when it came to high bridges. My vertigo would kick in when I tried driving across them, so I would have to pull over and let my Mother drive us across the bridge, then I'd drive again. My Mother would be the one taking the pictures of the good stuff with her Polaroid so I could see it better once we stopped for the night. Worked out well for both of us.
When my sister and I travel she usually drives. She is not a good rider. She prefers to drive so I let her and just tell her where she needs to be. On our August trip I drove and she held onto the handle for most of the trip. While she is driving I try to catch some good pics of the landscape we are traveling through.
My Father was a police officer, so he made it a point to teach both my older Brother and I how to drive defensively. So once I got my drivers license my Mother always preferred that I drive. Not really sure why, as she was a good driver and I never worried when she drove. But, when we too the long drive from Ft Worth TX to Bremerton WA to see my Brother who was in the Navy and stationed there, she had me do most of the driving. My defensive driving lessons came in handy more than a few times along the way. I only had my drivers license only two weeks before we too off on our trip. But, I had been practicing my driving on the back roads before then.
I really love how well your imagination is expanding. And while having a idea is step one, the real work is in putting it together and getting the results your mind's eye saw. And it is not always as easy to do as it looks in your mind's eye.
A great photo, SP. A beautiful mixture of flower colors that adds a Spring time look to your yard. And the flag on the side of the house is really fascinating. Did you make that yourself?
There are doing some construction by one of the lakes in the complex and this little Kingfisher was sitting on one of the markers making a lot of noise.
Yes. There are lots of people who have Tarantulas as pets. One of my Brother's friends had four of them, Eenie, Meenie, Minee and Moe. He brought them to our house one day to show them to us and I was afraid to even move while they crawled all over him. It was very uncomfortable for me. I asked him very nicely not to bring them to 'see us' again. And thankfully he never did.
Poekilocerus pictus is a large brightly colored grasshopper from India. Nymphs of the species are notorious for squirting a jet of liquid up to several inches away when grasped. It is also known as Aak grasshopper or locally in few tribal areas called titighodo. (copied from wikipedia: ... )
This might not be a pretty fall picture to anyone who doesn't rely mainly on wood heat to survive the winter, but there's nothing like a big wood pile to bring joy to my heart this time of year. LOL!
So true. One of the homes I owned had three working wood-burning fireplaces, and we kept a half-cord of cut logs beside the house. In fact, every home I ever owned in my life except the last one had wood-burning fireplaces, and we used them. Now I will forever miss the smell and watching the flickering flames.
btw....since you mentioned African artwork, here is an artwork I created several years ago. I was just getting into creative artwork and this was one of my special projects.
Thanks Buzz. Very interesting info. I'm always curious what others see in the artwork. It helps to keep my mind open challenged. There is always something new to learn.
With the Christmas season approaching, here’s some photos of last years local covid limited Garden of Lights.
Now that’s very creative seasonal art! All of the photos are within a large arboretum and a Mediterranean climate botanical garden in a huge park connected by the Sundial Bridge in downtown Redding, Ca.
Did you take those photos? Christmas? It hasn't even been Hallowe'en yet, let alone Thanksgiving, but those are some amazing lights. .Last Christmas and the people weren't wearing masks? Out of respect for the customs of this group I won't say what I think about that.
You've done a masterful job with the images, and the framing. (Or due to the craziness these days about gender, a "personful job"?) I was just thinking, they'll have to retitle Julia Child's French Cookbook "Personing the Art of French Cooking". Problem is, then it would sound too much like "Poisoning the Art of French Cooking".
Good evening … early start.
Beautiful mountains this time of year. And the Autumn leaves are breathtaking. Great shot, Mac.
WOW, what a beautiful view.
Outstanding.
Stunningly beautiful.
Beautiful sign of Gods creation.
All my Autumn leaves photos have been posted here too recently, so to continue with the theme of colour, I'm posting the colours of China at night.

Great color essay, Buzz.
Wonderful & so colorful.
Nice photos.
My thanks to all of you, both commenters and voters, for appreciating my efforts.

Nicely done, Hal.
That is funny.
The football game photo is great. Nice effect.
Those are great, Hal. The top one is really funny, and the bottom one looks full of energy. Well done!
Great shot for Hallowe'en. And I can see that the football game had to be fun to watch. I've watched my son play little kids baseball and hockey, but not football.
I was out at Amnicon WI State Park last weekend for a bit. Weekends have been a bit soggy this month.
Great photos, EG.
Awesome photos, EG.
Truly beautiful photos, EG. Very serene and calming. And the colors are awesome.
You did a great job of capturing the beauty of that park.
Great Blue Heron looking for lunch and finding it.
That is a beautiful bird. It looks very satisfied in photo #3.
Really interesting photos, Kavika. As I remember from my trips to FL, there are a lot of Herons live there.
Nice series capture - tells a story.
Driving through PA a few years ago. I have nothing recent to go with fall.
Great combining of the photos, Veronica. Makes for a very interesting views of the sights. It looks like a very interesting drive.
Thanks. I was the navigator.

Good idea. Almost like watching a movie through your windshield.
I really loved the colors so had to snap pics.
Portrait of a Couple Window Shopping, Kyoto
Wow, I really love this one! The contrast of color vs B&W
Thanks, Perrie.
I thought so too - has an incredible effect.
Now that is very cool, G. B&W with color.
Thanks, Kavika
Great blending of B/W with the couple in color, as well as combining the older fashions with the modern.
Very well done, G!
Thank you, Raven Wing. It was an idea I had for that photo 2 nights ago, and yesterday I was able to create what I envisioned.
I really love how well your imagination is expanding. And while having a idea is step one, the real work is in putting it together and getting the results your mind's eye saw. And it is not always as easy to do as it looks in your mind's eye.
Thank you very much.
It took some work to achieve what I wanted to create.
Is he carrying a rifle? Your editing is becoming VERY professional.
He's carrying a closed blue umbrella, Buzz.
It's a rolled up umbrella. (Raven Wing's explanation showed up as soon as I posted mine. Thanks, Raven Wing)
Thanks, Buzz!
YVW
A peek-a-boo Kobe
Kobe believes that he is completely hidden, invisible in fact.
Yup 70lbs of Pittie is really easy to hide.
How funny! And it looks like he is looking from behind the plant strand on his face to see if you have found him yet.
Somehow I think it a little incongruous to see such a dog in frills. Are you layering?
We had a huge "ancient" twisted Rosemary bush which the Texas Freeze of '21 killed and had to be dug out ,
leaving a large bare spot in the front "garden".
We had a couple envelopes of seeds from one charity or another that had been in an "collector dish" on a side table in the living room
for several years at least/
So I leveled the area with potting soil and threw marigold, zinnia and shasta seeds randomly, covered it with mulch and fended off the
gardeners for a month to keep them from weeding or removing the plants.
Now I don't see any Shasta in there but the zinnia and marigold have exploded and are probably killing the grass, lol.
Cant win.
Nice shot with the Texas sage also blooming.
Taken with a smart phone
A great photo, SP. A beautiful mixture of flower colors that adds a Spring time look to your yard. And the flag on the side of the house is really fascinating. Did you make that yourself?
Yes, doctors orders.
More fruits and juices she said.
Wine is the answer.
Well....wine IS a juice...right?
The flowers did a great job creating a beautiful bush out of themselves, and you did a fantastic job with that flag.
Thanks Buzz.
An old desk top and a few years worth of cork that no one wants to recycle, lol.
So far it's been too heavy for anyone to steal but they have tested the weight once or twice.
They usually end up looking right at the camera and make a better decision.
People have tried to steal it? Does that mean it faces the street instead of your house?
It's on the side of the garage which is 90 degrees to the house
So I can see it from my office window and people driving north on our street can see it prominently.
It started out in the back yard, but I moved it out for holidays like the 4th of July, Labor Day, Flag Day etc
and it just kept getting heavier and heavier so this year it has been out all summer.
Initially the corks were all dyed and the sun made quick work of that.
Last winter we removed the wooden stars and painted those white
and used "permanent" colored Sharpies to restore the red and blue
which have both faded significantly but nowhere as badly as the dyes.
We are off to another excellent start!
Hellooo Friday!
A beautiful work of art, Raven Wing.
Thanks G. Glad you like it.
Hellooo lovely maiden!
Thank you, Buzz.
There are doing some construction by one of the lakes in the complex and this little Kingfisher was sitting on one of the markers making a lot of noise.
That is a great photo. And those birds do make a lot of loud noise.
LOL. Very clever taking a photo that enables us to determine the exact height of that bird.
WoW! That is a beautiful spider. It looks friendly enough. It's a Tarantula right?
Yes, and it must have inspired artists...
Indeed I would think so.
There are people who keep tarantulas as pets, and TRAIN THEM? Now I've seen everything.
Yes. There are lots of people who have Tarantulas as pets. One of my Brother's friends had four of them, Eenie, Meenie, Minee and Moe. He brought them to our house one day to show them to us and I was afraid to even move while they crawled all over him. It was very uncomfortable for me. As I just said on the movie remake article that was posted by Perrie, Chacun a son gout.
Yikes. A beauty, as long as it's not on me...Haha
If it's real, it certainly does beat a tattoo walking around with that on your arm. It would scare the s*** out of me.
Okay, okay, I don't know what it is, but when something that lives is as fancy coloured as that it's usually pretty dangerous.
It's an Aak Grasshopper.
WoW! What is that beautiful animal/insect? Anything that is that robust with outstanding colors may be less than friendly, or may be venomous.
Really? I have never seen a grasshopper that looks like that. Not one here in So Cal nor anywhere else I have been.
That's a beautiful grasshopper. We have the Luber Grasshopper in Florida and they are quite colorful.
We use to get these black ones with a red stripe down the side. Hated those things.
Thanks for the info, Kavika. And yes, they are quite beautiful.

I'm deprived. I've only seen green grasshoppers.
That's very interesting information, Mac. Thank you for sharing it, and for the link.
Same here, Buzz. Just the green ones.
And remembering back to when I was a kid, they used to spit out tobacco juice.
I thought that was just Camels that did that. I didn't hang around grasshoppers long enough to see them spit anything.
It was just a brown liquid. We called it tobacco juice.
More autumn.

You can tell where the various trees are by the trail of their leaves on the pathway. So very beautiful.
The road less travelled.
Here is one to knock on the door of Saturday....
It's noon on Saturday here, so who's there?
(Raven...ear to the door listening to see who answers.)
Guess I'll have to wait and see. (grin)
Closing out Friday with a laugh.
You trying to call us old...
Haha
OMG...that is so funny. Thanks for the good laugh, Kavika. Great way to send Friday off.
Tom Petty and the Fartmakers
The Travelling Pillsburies
That's hilarious.
One for Saturday....
Oh, WOW Raven, that one really knocked me over when I opened it. Very impressive.
Thank you very much, Buzz.
This might not be a pretty fall picture to anyone who doesn't rely mainly on wood heat to survive the winter, but there's nothing like a big wood pile to bring joy to my heart this time of year. LOL!
A big woodpile is a good thing

Heading into Sunday …

Very serene, yet, at the same time, exciting. Very well done, Mac.
IMO so magnificently colourful as to be more visually stimulating than serene.
Sunday here we come.....
Well put together - frame and image. I feel it is somewhat influenced by African artworks.
Thanks Buzz. But, what do you see in it that makes you feel it is influenced by African artwork? I'm just curious.
btw....since you mentioned African artwork, here is an artwork I created several years ago. I was just getting into creative artwork and this was one of my special projects.
The use of strong primary contrasting colours like this...
A little primitive, decorative, like this....
Or maybe it was just my imagination.
Thanks Buzz. Very interesting info. I'm always curious what others see in the artwork. It helps to keep my mind open challenged. There is always something new to learn.
Did you take those photos? Christmas? It hasn't even been Hallowe'en yet, let alone Thanksgiving, but those are some amazing lights. .Last Christmas and the people weren't wearing masks? Out of respect for the customs of this group I won't say what I think about that.
Beautifully photographed and presented!
Sunset at Stone Creek, Ocala, FL.
That is really an awesome photo, Kavika. The sun on the tops of the grasses dancing under the trees gives them a magical glow.
I really like the way you have silhouetted the trees against the sunset.
Sunday.

Wow! Now that is really beautiful, as well as very interestingly creative. Excellent, Mac!
Can we call that a butterflower?
Let your heart soar like an Eagle....
Thank you, Buzz.
Powerful and beautiful simultaneously!
Thank you very much, Mac.
That is a very powerful and interesting image.
Thanks G.
One more to see Sunday come to a close...
I like that one too.
Thank you very much, Buzz
Wow. Fantastic.
Thanks G. I'm very glad you like it.
My final contribution for this week.
Did you get that from google, because I can't open it.
Yes, got it from Google, It's a pizza and the caption is ''Happy National Sausage Pizza Day''.
Thanks to all for another good article & the civility missing so often in the world today. See you before the weekend.
