Things are Beginning to Look "Up" ~ On Creative Arts Thursday/Friday
© A. Mac/A.G.
UPDATE: As part of my wife's recovery from a bone marrow transplant, exercise is a high priority ; we walk around the neighborhood on nice days, but earlier this week, I took her to one of my favorite nature places, one with a fairly steep trail, having a meadow on one side, and, a forest on the other. We walked part of the way up, stopped where she could rest on a bench, and, I took some pictures (like the one above). I think this hill-trail is a perfect place to for my wife to gradually build her strength and stamina. And it’s beautiful!

I " Created " this...…. MESS …..all by myself !
I'm still trying to reduce it, one step at-a-time, one day at a time .
A very peaceful and serene looking trail, Mac. One that I am sure your wife enjoys during her walks. It is wonderful to hear the progress she is making. It is the beauty of such surroundings that can help bring her peace of mind and help lift her Spirits.
A/noon..As always slow and steady as you go...been a bit of a stuff up with my treatment. My protein levels are to high to proceed with the stem cell transplant. The "fill in" specialist was not keeping track of it so I am just thrilled as you can imagine. BUT there is a silver lining. I have now been placed on a drug trial program where they have been achieving excellent results and outcomes. Cost $20,000 a month but free for the trial. Only draw back requires a once a week trip to Melbourne and it is 10 hours return...But think we can work our way around it. So back to Melbourne this Wednesday and starting Thursday a battery of tests and treatment to start soon after. So a bumpy road ahead but with luck and good wishes one that will be smooth eventually. Give my regards to Mrs Mac and to you..You are doing a fantastic job and that will mean more to Mrs Mac that you will ever know...
Sending lots of good wishes and prayers your way, shona. Hoping the new treatment will work well for you. Let us know how things work out for you.
Evening Raven. Just got word everything is now booked in for Thursday and Friday down Melbourne for quite a few tests. With luck once they are out of the way, it is head long into the treatment for the following 16 weeks...Yes will keep you posted along the way and thank you all for the support...
Sending all the best wishes and luck to you my friend.
Hopefully all goes well.
Keep us updated if you can; I hope you have support people and ample resources to get you on the road back to what constitutes your “normal”.
That which we come to know as our “normal” lives are highly underrated until we encounter great adversity.
Hope all goes well.
Good news, excellent photo. This is a logging road during early winter in the remote Killaloe area of Ontario that I used to frequent, a thin layer of snow covering most of the fallen leaves - a road less travelled.
Looks like a very pleasant walk, Buzz. Thanks for sharing.
First of all, I am so happy that your wife has reached this stage where things are looking good for her. ( at this point, we're not too sure right now about Mr. Nona's results from his recent MRI )
Second of all, I LOVE your picture!! Great job as usual., and thanks for sharing your fantastic talent of photography.
Prayers and good wishes sent or Mr Nona, and hopefully, the results of his MRI will be good news.
Thank you RW. All prayers and good wishes are more than welcomed. I will make sure I let you know what happens.
He needs to have another MRI, He just needs to make the appointment......
Kinda' quiet here so far today.
When I was living in Samoa I worked with an artisan in hand carving Samoan war clubs...No power tools of any kind were used. All the intricate carvings in the club were done by hand with various knives.
Later I trained for months with his son in the use of them. They are quite deadly when in the hands of an expert. The largest one on the left is 3 1/2 feet long.
close-ups so you can see some of the carvings
.
Those are truly beautiful, and deadly. Is there some Tribal significance to the carvings on the clubs, or are they just decoration?
Much like the Samoan tattoo, there are various meanings to the designs. Some represent ocean shells while others represent ancient gods and some have to do with the family of the carver.
One that is used often is the turtle. Much like Native Americans, Samoans have a great respect for the turtle.
Thanks for the clarification, Kavika. I know that in most Native peoples there is some importance involved in their artwork and tattoos, but, was not sure in the case of the clubs. The carvings are so beautiful, and it must take considerable time to create them.
It tooks weeks to finish just one of the clubs, RW.
Weeks? I was thinking more like months given the intricate artwork and the workmanship of the clubs. However, seeing the expertise that goes into them I suppose it would take experts less time than what I can think possible.
When I say weeks I mean all day almost every day of the week...The largest one took around 4 to 5 weeks.
Ahhh....I see. thanks for the clarification.
I believe I got to see them in person! And I hope one day, maybe, to see them … and their owner … again.
Yes, you did see them Mac and I'm sure that you and Mrs Mac will see them again.
Beautiful job of carving and decorating.
A creation for this article.......
Beautiful RW.
Thank you Kavika.
Magnificent in every respect, RW!
Thanks Mac. Tying all of this one together took some real doing.
Do you have titles for your creations?
No Kavika. I don't give them names/titles, as everyone may see them in a different way. So I prefer to leave it up to the individuals to create their own names/titles according to how they see them.
IMO, my giving them a name/title as the creator tends to limit the imagination of what others might see them as, and I think it is important to give each person the option to give them their own name/title based upon how they see them, or the personal feeling they get from the image.
For me, that is an important part of creating the images, and their affect they have on those who see them.
An excellent way to look at it RW...
Wonderful.
Thank you, Buzz.
Glad to hear she's up to some exercise, Mac. And glad you have such a lovely place for her to walk.
If pleasant paths is a theme here, then there are these...
Indeed very peaceful looking paths, Buzz. Mother Earth always provides what is needed to help bring peace of mind to us humans.
Unfortunately Mother Earth still has a lot to do to succeed in that intent.
It seems she is up against some serious conditions that she has to deal with, and Man's greed.
From my walks:
Such peaceful scenes. One can only dream what it would be like to live in a home so beautifully situated.
Thanks, Buzz. The top one is a spring house about a mile and a half from my house. In summer, it's surrounded by black-eyed Susans, and is even more lovely. The bottom pic is from my neighbor's property He has a wonderful view from his mountain ridge.
Very beautiful, sandy. I loved walking among the meadows and trails of the Shenandoah Mountains and Valley. No matter what time of the year, it was never a disappointment.
Your photos have become very important to me Mac, more than you realize. They are true beauty in a world of ugliness. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Paula,
I am moved by your kind words and thank you; God/Nature/The Cosmos creates the beauty, I just take pictures, but it gratifies me I take some that provide pleasure for those who view them.
Many of us take pictures, but you are much more skillful at doing so.
A little something extra for this week....
A little spooky, but quite fascinating. Great burled wood frame.
Thanks Buzz. It seems to be a feather headdress gone rogue.
Glad to hear of the continuous progress and the pictures are nice too.
