UNC Defeats Duke 94-81
Coach K will now be known as "Coach L".

The Banned Played On

The winningest Coach In NCAA history LOST the last game he will ever coach at Cameron Indoor Sanitarium.  The Dook players and the "Cameron Crazies" (AKA "Smurfs") caused major water damage to the dilapidated basketball court with their tears.  Dook Coach Mike Shitheadski said, " I'm sorry about this afternoon, it's unacceptable. "  Almost 100 of Shitheadski's former players were holding their crying towels over their eyes as they left the tiny gym.  The Dook students (AKA "Spoiled Brats) had tear stained blue paint running down their faces.

North Carolina showed once again why its rivalry with Duke is among the greatest in all of sports. It spoiled Mike Krzyzewski's final game at Cameron Indoor Stadium with a 94-81 upset the over fourth-ranked Blue Devils on Saturday. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-basketball/news/duke-unc-live-score-highlights-coach-k-last-game/fk1ukm7bb93pzxdp6ay0yocc94

"I'm sorry about this afternoon," Krzyzewski said addressing the sellout crowd. "... it's unacceptable. Today was unacceptable, but the season has been very acceptable." https://www.cnn.com/2022/03/05/sport/tar-heels-defeat-blue-devils/index.html

Dook (AKA University of South Jersey) is in Durham, North Carolina.  The Yankee fans were extremely disappointed tonight.  North Carolina is sometimes called "the shoulder of the nation".  That makes Durham "the armpit".  Dook is a "wannabe Ivy League school" butt Dook is actually more of a "Poison Ivy League school".

Duke gets its name from a horrible tobacco baron.  Duke's huge endowment came from carcinogenic "blood (and sputum) money".  So, yes, Duke IS a killer university.

This is a box of "Duke of Durham" cigarettes from the 1880s:

512

Packs of Duke Of Durham cigarettes looked like this until they were discontinued in 1966:

512

Among the "celebrities" in attendance last night were:  Tim Cook, Adam Silver, Todd Gurley, 9th Wonder, Ken Jeong, Dirk Nowitzki, Kyler Murray, Nick Nurse, Terrell Owens, Joc Pederson and Jerry Seinfeld.  Jerry Seinfeld said, "It must have been truly thrilling to spend $250,000 to get a ticket, bet thousands of dollars on Duke  and then fly all the way to Durham, North Cackalacky to watch your team lose to their bitter rival."

Tickets for last night's game were the most expensive for a regular season game in sports history.  Tickets eclipsed the price of Super Bowl tickets.  I watched it (and DVR'ed it) for free on ESPN.

512

UNC may have two more chances to defeat Dook.  The two schools may face each other in the upcumming ACC Tournament.  And it's possible that Carolina may have the opportunity to knock Dook out of the NCAA Tournament.

This was the latest ruling from the United States Supreme Court:

The basketball fan in my family was my Grandmother. She watched all the games.

I tried to play once but couldn't get the hang of it. I kept running into people and slamming against them to get the ball. I don't think it is suppose to be a contact sport.

It's not? If you aren't pushing, shoving, and trying to force players out of position you aren't playing the game right. Getting a rebound is cause for hand to hand combat.

I don't pretend I had the talent to play at the college or pro level; but I did play on several competition teams that played against former college players. We even had a seven footer; and a 6-9 295 pound power forward.

I played off guard (or shooting guard if you prefer- except the coach hated it when I didn't pass inside to the big guys)- I couldn't tell you how many times I ran into a much larger player at full speed trying to grab a rebound or loose ball.

I was great at intercepting passes and taking charges. Refs always called fouls on the opposition when they lowered their shoulders and I held my ground. I was only 125 pounds at time. The contact made a loud echoing thud that was impossible to ignore.

Basketball a non contact sport? Only if you aren't trying.

Well, it is, and it isn't.  If you're rebounding, there's going to be contact.  If you're picking, there's contact.  If you have the ball, or you're guarding somebody who does, there's technically not supposed to be contact, but there probably will be, anyway.

We Remember: Tyler Hansbrough Bloodied After Being Elbowed by Gerald Henderson

KYLE NEWPORT

Back on March 4, 2007, Duke and North Carolina met in Chapel Hill. The game itself wasn't that close, as the Tar Heels pulled away for an 86-72 victory, but it did feature a moment that will never be forgotten by basketball fans.

North Carolina held a 12-point lead with 17.5 seconds remaining in the game when Tar Heels star Tyler Hansbrough missed a free throw. Hansbrough managed to come up with the rebound, but as he tried to lay it in for the score, the Blue Devils' Gerald Henderson came flying in and delivered a hard elbow to Hansbrough's face.

This article is about the fierce rivalry between Dook and Carolina.  It's fucking satire not hate .

Thanx for demonstrating that "conservatives" have no senses of humor and they think everything is about partisan politics.

College basketball transcends party politics.  Many "libtards" attended Dook and they love Mike Shitheadski.  When they stop crying over losing to Carolina maybe some of them will join in the fun on this thread.  The Dookies are welcome to cum her and trade insults.  It's all in fun.

Actually, the Big Ten is famous for covering up sex crimes perpetrated on athletes.

Penn State child sex abuse scandal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Penn State child sex abuse scandal concerned allegations and subsequent convictions of child sexual abuse committed by Jerry Sandusky , an assistant coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team, over a period of at least fifteen years. The scandal began to emerge publicly in March 2011 and broke in early November 2011 when Sandusky was indicted on 52 counts of child molestation , stemming from incidents that occurred between 1994 and 2009. Sandusky was ultimately convicted on 45 counts of child sexual abuse on June 22, 2012, and was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison.

Additionally, three Penn State officials – school president Graham Spanier , vice president Gary Schultz and athletic director Tim Curley – were charged with perjury , obstruction of justice , failure to report suspected child abuse, and related charges. The Penn State Board of Trustees commissioned an independent investigation by former FBI Director Louis Freeh , whose report stated that Penn State's longtime head football coach Joe Paterno , along with Spanier, Curley and Schultz, had known about allegations of child abuse by Sandusky as early as 1998, had shown "total and consistent disregard...for the safety and welfare of Sandusky's child victims", and "empowered" Sandusky to continue his acts of abuse by failing to disclose them.   Shortly after the scandal broke, Spanier resigned. The Board of Trustees terminated the contracts of Paterno and Curley.

As a result of the scandal, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) imposed sanctions on the Penn State football program: a $60 million fine , a four-year postseason ban, scholarship reductions, and a vacation of all victories from 1998 to 2011. These sanctions were considered to be among the most severe ever imposed on an NCAA member school. NCAA President Mark Emmert stated that the sanctions were levied "not to be just punitive, but to make sure the university establishes an athletic culture and daily mindset in which football will never again be placed ahead of educating, nurturing and protecting young people."  The Big Ten Conference subsequently imposed an additional $13 million fine.

Penn State proved that the chant:  " Penn State Sucks " has a double meaning.

Another infamous Big Ten sex scandal occurred at Ohio State.  And, of course, OSU covered it up and the abuse continued.

Ohio State University abuse scandal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ohio State University abuse scandal centered on allegations of sexual abuse that occurred between 1978 and 1998, while Richard Strauss was employed as a physician by the Ohio State University (OSU) in the Athletics Department and in the Student Health Center. An independent investigation into the allegations was announced in April 2018 and conducted by the law firm Perkins Coie .

In July 2018, several former wrestlers accused former head coach Russ Hellickson and U.S. representative Jim Jordan , who was an assistant coach at OSU between 1987 and 1994, of knowing about Strauss' alleged abuse but failing to take action to stop it. Jordan has denied that he had any student-athlete report sexual abuse to him.

The report, released in May 2019, concluded that Strauss abused at least 177 male student-patients and that OSU was aware of the abuse as early as 1979 , but the abuse was not widely known outside of Athletics or Student Health until 1996, when he was suspended from his duties. Strauss continued to abuse OSU students at an off-campus clinic until his retirement from the university in 1998. OSU was faulted in the report for failing to report Strauss's conduct to law enforcement.

In May 2020, the university entered into a settlement and agreed to pay $40.9 million to the sexual abuse survivors.

Pitino

Good choice.  Pitino was a piece of shit and had a sex scandal.

Extortion attempt against Pitino

On April 18, 2009, Pitino announced that he was the target of an extortion attempt.  On April 24, Karen Cunagin Sypher, the wife of Louisville equipment manager Tim Sypher, was arraigned and charged in US District Court with extortion and lying to federal agents. The federal government alleged that Cunagin demanded vehicles and tuition money for her children from Pitino and later demanded $10 million from him. According to the federal complaint, the demands arose from an unspecified encounter between Sypher and Pitino.

On August 11, Pitino admitted that he had sexual relations with Cunagin on August 1, 2003, at Porcini, a Louisville restaurant. Several weeks later, Cunagin told Pitino that she was pregnant and wanted to have an abortion, but added she did not have health insurance. Pitino paid her $3,000 for the abortion. ] During the trial, Pitino downplayed the pair's sexual escapade, testifying that the entire act did not take more than 15 seconds. ] Cunagin claimed that her estranged husband, Tim Sypher, was paid to marry her.

At a press conference on August 12, Pitino apologized for his indiscretion and stated that he would remain as coach.   While Pitino's contract allowed for his firing for "acts of moral depravity or misconduct that damages the university's reputation," University of Louisville president James Ramsey announced on August 13 that Pitino would remain in his position.

On August 6, 2010, a federal district court found Cunagin guilty of extortion and lying to federal agents. She was eventually sentenced to 87 months in prison. Cunagin was released to a halfway house in January 2017.   [ After her conviction, Cunagin hired new attorneys and accused the judge, prosecutors, her former attorneys, and Pitino of taking part in a conspiracy to ensure that she was found guilty. She later expressed "exceptional remorse and contrition regarding her commission of her offenses".

Pitino was blackmailed by a woman who gave him the quickest quickie in fucking history.

During the trial, Pitino downplayed the pair's sexual escapade, testifying that the entire act did not take more than 15 seconds.

As you can see Pitino was a 15 second guy,  What a fucking loser.

I have no respect for Pitino.  He literally wooed high schooler recruits.

The University of Louisville self-imposed a postseason ban for the 2015–16 season amid an ongoing NCAA investigation over an esc ort sex scandal involving recruits between 2010 and 2014. The ban included both the ACC Tournament and the NCAA Tournament On June 15, 2017, the NCAA charged Pitino for failure to monitor his basketball program, which was involved in a sex-for-pay scandal. He was suspended for the first five games of the ACC season in 2017–18. The NCAA announced they were considering forcing Louisville to vacate wins from the 2012–13 season, including its 2013 NCAA National Championship over Michigan, which would make Louisville the first national champion to be stripped of its title. The NCAA is also considering stripping Louisville of wins from several other seasons before and after 2012–13.

On February 20, 2018, the NCAA officially announced that the 2013 National Championship and their 2012 Final Four appearance had been vacated.  It was the first time the NCAA vacated a men's basketball national title.

What Pitino did was deplorable.  Butt he never took part in a cover-up of of sexual perpetuated upon hundreds of student athletes.  The schools in the Big Ten did that.

Yeehaw for the stars and bars conference ...

And let's have a round of applause for Michigan State and their connection to the worst sex scandal in history.

USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The USA Gymnastics sex abuse scandal relates to the sexual abuse of female athletes—primarily minors at the time of the abuse—over two decades in the United States, starting in the late 1990s. More than 368 people alleged that they were sexually assaulted "by gym owners, coaches, and staff working for gymnastics programs across the country." Longtime USA Gymnastics (USAG) national team doctor Larry Nassar was specifically named in hundreds of lawsuits filed by athletes who said that Nassar engaged in sexual abuse for at least 14 years under the pretense of providing medical treatment. Since the scandal was first reported by The Indianapolis Star in September 2016, more than 265 women, including former USAG national team members Jessica Howard , Jamie Dantzscher , Morgan White , Jeanette Antolin , McKayla Maroney , Aly Raisman , Maggie Nichols , Gabby Douglas , Simone Biles , Jordyn Wieber , Sabrina Vega , Ashton Locklear , Kyla Ross , Madison Kocian , Amanda Jetter , Tasha Schwikert , Mattie Larson , Bailie Key , Kennedy Baker , Alyssa Baumann , and Terin Humphrey have accused Nassar of sexually assaulting them. It is considered the largest sexual abuse scandal in sports history.

On July 11, 2017, Nassar pleaded guilty to federal child pornography charges, and was sentenced to 60 years in prison on December 7, 2017. On November 22, 2017, he pleaded guilty in state court to seven charges of first-degree sexual assault and entered another guilty plea a week later to three additional charges of sexual assault. On January 24, 2018, Nassar was sentenced to an additional 40 to 175 years in prison, set to run after Nassar serves the 60-year federal prison sentence for child pornography. On February 5, 2018, Nassar received another 40 to 125 years. As of 2019, he is incarcerated at United States Penitentiary, Coleman .

An investigation by The Indianapolis Star over a period of nine months found that the abuses were widespread because "predatory coaches were allowed to move from gym to gym, undetected by a lax system of oversight, or dangerously passed on by USA Gymnastics-certified gyms". USAG and Michigan State University —where Nassar worked as its osteopathic physician —have been accused of enabling Nassar's abuse and are named as defendants in civil lawsuits that former gymnasts have filed against Nassar.

Yes, some of the things that occurred in Big Ten schools (and were covered up) are the worst sex scandals in modern history.  Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of student were sexually molested at Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan.

You can pretend that an "academic scandal" is as bad as sexually assaulting students, butt everyone who reads this knows that's fucking bullshit.

Yep.  The Big Ten has the record for molesting the most students.

And, apparently, Big Ten fans are trying to set a record for trolling.

You should be proud of your dubious contribution.

Lots of students in Big Ten schools got screwed (literally).

They got "butthurt" by coaches & team doctors.

This product is very popular at Big Ten schools:

The Big Ten Is Having A Pretty Embarrassing NCAA Tournament

However, for the Big Ten – a conference that hasn’t won a national championship in men’s basketball since Michigan State in 2000 – it might be kind of fair.

This year, the Big Ten once again sent a ton of teams to the NCAA Tournament, with nine teams getting into the Big Dance.

Fast forward to Sunday night, though, and only two remain – with just one having locked in a spot in the Sweet 16.

Awwww don’t be mad because we sent nearly double the teams to the show.

Maybe the ACC will do better in the “Not In Tournament” tournament.    Sounds about right for a baby brother.

That said, feel free to have the last word.    Your bombast is beginning to bore me .....

Yeah, the Big Ten sent seven teams to the NCAA Tournament and five have been eliminated.

Five ACC teams went to the NCAA Tournament and only two teams have been eliminated.

So, do the math (oh, sorry the Big "Ten" can't do math).

60% of the ACC schools that went to the NCAA Tournament made the "sweet 16" while less than 30% of the Big Ten schools that went to the Tournament made the "sweet 16".

I dont think a single elimination tournament really shows the strength of conferences. A season long win percentage against top 50 out of conference teams might.

That already exists.    Strength of schedule.

For the 21-22 season the B-10 has seven teams in the top 20 of SOS.    The Stars and Bars conference not so much.

Big Ten Faces Scrutiny After Another Suboptimal Men’s First Weekend

The conference sent nine teams dancing, but just two remain. Can Purdue and Michigan carry the torch?
There was a degree of cosmic synchronicity to Sunday night’s events, as the Big Ten’s torch-bearing teams and two highest seeds, led by their must-see, NBA-bound sophomore guards , made disparate exits from Milwaukee. Purdue went on its way to Philadelphia with tangible Final Four dreams, and Wisconsin, the regular season co-champion, hopped a short bus ride back to Madison. This concluded an uneven weekend for the league on whole: Of the Big Ten’s nine teams that cracked the tournament’s field of 68, just two remained in the dance-off. No. 11 seed Michigan swung upsets over Colorado State and Tennessee, and the Boilermakers held their seed against Texas and Yale. Prior to Wisconsin’s heartbreak, earlier in the day, Illinois (the other co-champion), Ohio State and Michigan State had also fallen , joining Iowa (the conference tourney champ), Indiana and Rutgers among the vanquished.

I lived in a "landmark" when I first got to UNC.

When I was there, those oldest dorms were reserved for upper-classmen.

My first one was that (Then)new monstrosity just off campus-- Ehringhaus.

Long time ago but if memory serves I did spend a year in Upper quad-- Grimes.

(A 5 minute or less walk to where Silent Sam then stood).

Then an apt off campus with an athlete (swimmer). We went to the pool every day-- he taught me to swim like a pro!.

One memory I'll never forget. One day I was walking out of the dorm and loud cheers broke out throughout the campus. I was wondering what big game was being played (thinking UNC had just scored a point).

Then I realized it was a weekday-- no games.

I asked someone why all the loud cheering?

Well, JFK had just been shot!

I started at UNC and completed two Summer Sessions before my Freshman year.  They put me in Old East because they assumed I was an upperclassman who needed to raise my QP average because I was flunking out of Regular Semester classes.  When they realized their mistake the transferred me to Old West (another mistake).  I started my Freshman Year (with 4 credits from the summer at Ehringhaus which was mainly a jock dorm.  The football players lived there,  I was on the wrestling team.

I wish I was in  Dixie

When I attended my first UNC football game in 1967, it was scary.  First there was a huge, " YEE HAW!!!  "  Then a cheerleader came charging on the field waving a huge Confederate flag.  The rest of the cheerleaders and the football players ran out behind the flag and the band played Dixie.  The crowd roared in approval.  It made the hairs on my neck stand up and I felt nauseous.  I came to UNC from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY.  I wasn't used to being surrounded by hooting rednecks.

Carolina's first Black scholarship player was part of that fucking racist spectacle.  Several of us complained to The Daily Tar Heel about the racist display and it never repeated.

I met Ricky at a pick-up football game.  He showed up late and he wanted to get into the game.  I said you can play butt you can'r play quarterback (because he was a quarterback on the team).  So he played wide receiver.  He was so fast nobody could cover him.  I told he should become a receiver on the because of his blinding speed.  He did ithat and he was an excellent receiver.  When we were crushing The Citadel in 1969, it was 28-0 at the end of the first quarter so Coach Dooley put in the second string in the second quarter.  The score got worse so Dooley started the third string after halftime.  Our third string quarterback was hurt so Dooley move Lanier back to quarterback for the second half.  The rest is literally history:

You can find Ricardo 'Ricky' Lanier's name listed in the Tar Heel football media guide. In 1969, he set a record for most yards rushing from the quarterback position in a 61-11 win over VMI. The media guide says Lanier tallied 174 yards. He begs to differ. "It was 199 yards! I don't know how they came up with 174," he says, laughing. "Coach (Bill) Dooley said I had 199, then I got sacked for 25 yards.

He compiled that record in (174 yards rushing from the quarterback position) in the second  half.

I should mention that a lot has changed since I was there....

When I was there there were businesses on Franklin street that still had "Whites Only" signs...

(At the time some establishments didn't admit African-Americans-- but some did. An unusual mix for a southern town at the time).

I used to hang out with my friend's at Harry's Deli.

Was that still there at the time you were?

(It was right next to the Post Office-- the building was called "The Tankersly Building. I googled and found a picture of it --from the 1950's!)

Rattlesnakes and alligators, Right away, come away, right away, come away.

Where cotton's king and men are chattels,

Union boys will win the battles,

Right away, come away, right away, come away.

Then we'll all go down to Dixie, Away, away,

Each Dixie boy must understand

That he must mind his Uncle Sam.[23]

Yeah, it smelled like weed.

Actually I was there long ago. Hard to believe, but at there time there were no drugs in Chapel Hill High School. (I think some kids drank beer-- but no drugs!).

And even on campus-- few people did drugs-- mainly just a small group of hippies did. (Yes-- at fraternity parties they drank alcohol like crazy-- mainly beer and of course the required Jack Daniels. And for some-- Southern Comfort.).Same for most other students.

And at first even the hippie crowd mainly smoked grass-- a bit later they started using LSD.
