PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.     POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Please remember that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

I'll try this again, but in order to discourage alternative suggestions from what the answers are, I have posted TWO image clues for each movie.  The symbols or pictures represent either the title of a movie or an important item or aspect of the movie or is in some way representative of it.  None of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movie films.  Many of the questions are about relatively well known movies, but some classics and lesser known ones are included.  Please number your answers the same as the images.  A lot of the questions should be easy although some may be hard, so please give it a try.

I think this is the best movie quiz I've ever done.  It took hours between finding the right clues and then posting everything because I screwed up at first trying to post the clues side by side.  You might have to guess if you've not seen the movies, but the clues should make the ones you've seen even long ago obvious.  In fact, a lot of the clues are SO obvious they virtually spell out the names of the movies even if you've only heard of them..  Hope you all enjoy this one.

BUT REMEMBER:  PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.     POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

It's a shame more members don't take a pause from politics and have a little fun instead.  Even those who don't do well or watch many movies enjoy playing.  I welcome even those members who insult me and call me a shill and a propagandist who might realize that there is something in life besides Trump, Biden and China.

who might realize that there is something in life besides Trump, Biden and China.

Indeed that is a great shame. Having said that, I can understand the heightened anxiety about what is happening relating to politics, the vaccines, lockdowns, the unknown of what will happen before and after the change over of Presidents, and how it is all seriously impacting our daily lives mentally and emotionally.

While the players of your Quizes may be few at this point, please don't stop posting them. There are still those of us who enjoy the chance to set aside our anxiety and test our memory and wits. (smile)

Buzz, I like the quizzes and I think I have at least tried all of them, but they are just not everyone's cup of tea. I made what I thought was a good and fun quiz and three people played.

On other forums topics like movie and tv, and sports, and food,  are big draws. Here not so much.  I think that would still be the case if Donald Trump didnt exist.

A few weeks ago I made an article about John Wayne for your movie group. I think it got one or two comments besides the couple I put up.

I think you should keep making the quizzes because you like doing it, but dont necessarily expect a lot of participation. Let it be a surprise if it comes.

I agree. I find the non-political articles that you and a handful of other members post to be very refreshing, fun, and relaxing.

I welcome even those members who insult me

I've welcomed them on my seeds as well and have learned to ignore their insults by not replying.

I hope that you and your wife are well.

So far I got 9 participants on this one, six of them doing better than 50% correct, which is really good.  The only time I got a lot more was when I copied REALLY easy quizzes from the internet and almost everyone got 100% right - really no challenge at all.  Your white-face quiz was actually pretty tough - I think impossible for those who didn't actually see and remember the movies, and even though I only got half of them right I enjoyed the exercise.

NOTICE TO QUIZ PARTICIPANTS

Nine members have submitted their answers but nobody was able to answer the 8th or 10th questions correctly.  Correct answers have been achieved for the other questions.  Therefore I have decided to replace questions 8 and 10 with clues for different movies.  Please check the article to view those new clues for numbers 8 and 10, and I will increase your scores if you can identify those movies.  Just let me know with a Private Note what your answers are for those two movies.

The answer for the original number 8 was The Thin Man, who drank a lot through the movie - hence the image of a very thin man and a lot of cocktails.  Number 10 was Goldfinger - the gold bar was an easy clue, but the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach was where a lot of the original action took place and where the girl painted with gold was found, and I guess that was a difficult clue.

FINAL SCORES FOR QUIZ PARTICIPANTS

The tenth member has now submitted final answers so I will now post the final answers and announce the winners:

  1. Big Fish  -   big catfish and Bloom's Dodge Charger as in the movie.
  2. Contact  -  radio telescope array  and  the prime numbers broadcast by the aliens
  3. Flashback  -  principal character was an FBI agent, and the hippie painted schoolbus drove to the escape train
  4. Cool Hand Luke  -  prisoner road gang and Luke ate many eggs to win a bet
  5. Inherit the Wind  -  courtroom trial of a teacher for teaching evolution
  6. Julie & Julia  -  Julia Child was a famous chef who wrote a French Recipe cookbook.
  7. Philadelphia -  lawsuit by a Philadelphia lawyer who had hiv-aids
  8.  The Illusionist - the secretly-opening locket and the orange tree magic trick - both McGuffins in the movie starring Ed Norton.
  9. Sunset Boulevard  -  images of a sunset and a boulevard  I also accepted Sunset Strip.
  10. The Bucket List - a bucket, and Nicholson’s and Freeman’s ashes were put in Chock Full o’ Nuts tins and buried together at the top of a mountain at the end of the movie.
  11. Breakfast at Tiffany's  -  bacon, eggs and toast are BREAKFAST, and image of a moon over a river is the famous song. I don’t believe there was a moon shining on a river in The Breakfast Club.
  12. Goodbye Mr. Chips  -  English boys school students and potato chips should be enough for anyone who ever watched that movie.
  13. Psycho  -  giveaway clues - she was stabbed behind shower curtains, an iconic scary Hitchcock scene.
  14. Amadeus  -  young boy music prodigy hundreds of years ago, along with composed music
  15. An American in Paris  -  image of an American man - Eiffel tower IS Paris
  16. A Clockwork Orange  -  need I say it?  The inside of a watch and an orange
  17. Midnight Cowboy  -  What time did the clock show, with a moon indicating it was night - and a cowboy. I could not have been more explici  I also accepted Midnight Rider.
  18. Rain Man  -  image of rain and symbol of a man - put them together and you have the answer
  19. American Graffiti  -  What could be more American, along with what is a wall of graffiti
  20. Rosemary's Baby  -  the devil and his baby.  Interestingly I also saw an image of a baby with horns but I thought that would have made it TOO easy.

I think I might have mixed up the answers originally to numbers 8 and 10 but they are correct now.

Ten members played.  The final results are:  Tied with 15 for first place: Trout Giggles, Snuffy, Jasper.  Second place with 14: Kathleen.  Third place with 13 1/2: GregTX (answered "Julia" for number 6) followed by 3 others with 11 or better - the best group of results from any quiz I've ever posted, encouraging me to create another one which is almost finished. It will be the same format, but I had to dig deeper for movies so it will probably be a little harder.

Thank all of you for playing. I hope all of you enjoyed the challenge and will play again.

You don't jave any fun by NOT trying.  Now that you have seen the answers, have you seen whether you actually COULD have guessed more answers.  I will be posting a new one soon, but it may be harder.

I only got a few right, some of the movies I never saw, so the clues did not help much. But, the ones I did get right were easily recognized.

It was fun to play, and a good exercise for my brain. I look forward to the next quiz. jrSmiley_79_smiley_image.gif

I would've only got less than half right.  Number 10 though should've had two possible answers, the "Bucket List" I would have never guessed, but the "Green Mile" made more sense with the bucket to wet the sponge for the electric chair and the coffee can for the prisoner with the gift of healing, only spelled with a "K".

Well, I thinik Green Mile is a bit of a stretch, but if you had seen The Bucket List, the Chock Full o' Nuts coffee can was an obvious clue.
