CRIME THEME MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
THESE MOVIES ALL HAVE A CRIME ASPECT ABOUT THEM
Please remember that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
A few members have suggested that I should prepare a quiz with a specific theme - all the movies being of a specific genre, such as SciFi, Film Noir or Musicals. So I will try it - every movie in this quiz has a crime aspect to it, but I think this one will be harder than the last one. The two-picture clue system works well so I'll continue to use it. Same as previously, the symbols or pictures represent either the title of a movie or an important item or aspect of it or is in some way representative of it. None of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movie films and I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching is cheating. Some of the questions are about relatively well known movies, a few I've used before that now have different clues, but some classics and lesser known ones are included. So give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

TO ALL NT MEMBERS:
Take a break from the cesspool of politics - give it a rest, and why not try to answer a movie quiz. But remember....

There are two picture clues for each movie.
thinking about the clues
At this point in time five members have participated, and the lowest score so far is 9 out of 20. I would have thought that being limited to a specific genre would be more difficult, especially for those who don't watch many or any movies of that particular genre, and it is harder for me to put together, but then the specific genre is a third clue which should make the quiz easier than I originally thought it would be.
So far, only three movies out of the 20 have not been identified - numbers 1, 3 and 19.
Number 1 has been identified, so only 3 and 19 appear to be mysteries. I will close this tomorrow, so anyone intending to try it should do so now.
This Quiz has been up long enough for anyone who intended to participate will have done so, so I am closing the quiz. Although I posted two clues for each movie, the third clue was the fact that the movie had a crime aspect to it. Seven members participated, and the top score of 15 out of 20 was achieved by Kathleen, JohnRussell scored 14 1/2, and Vic Eldred was third best with 13 1/2. (Half marks are for "almost" correct answers.) Here are the answers - everyone can now check to see if they would have been capable of identifying the clues.
Only the third and 19th movies were not identified by anyone. Although I'm not surprised one would not expect a musical to be included, Jean Valjean was incarcerated for stealing a loaf of bread. The clue of empty chairs and empty tables is the title of a song from the film, and the Bishop gave his valued candlesticks to Valjean when the police brought him back with what he had stolen from the Bishop. As for The Inside Man, I'm surprised nobody got that one if for no other reason than it was a first rate movie with top actors, Clive Owen, Denzell Washington, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer, Willem Dafoe, about a thief who remained hidden inside a bank vault to steal from only one safety deposit box, which contained diamonds and a ring that had belonged to a Holocaust victim - "Follow the ring."
Thanks to all who tried - pretty well everyone who does has fun doing it.
Congratulations Kathleen.... well done.
And congrats to JR & Vic...
I'm amassing a list of movies for my next quiz. I've decided to not continue with theme based quizzes because some genres are not of any interest to some movie-watchers, so they are at a disadvantage if I apply such a limitation. As well, it makes it much harder for me to create a list. Therefore I'm back to the previous method, just two pictorial clues for each movie, and including movies of many genres and eras. The one thing you can be sure about is that movies released within the past three years will NOT be included, as I will not have seen them.
