CHANGE OF PACE MOVIE QUIZ
CHANGE OF PACE MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I'm on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
It's time to try something different for a change. The last quiz wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, so this one is going to be a little harder because I am posting two verbal clues for each movie instead of images. Most of the clues represent an important item or aspect of a movie or something that is in some way representative of it rather than the title. However, almost all of them are movies I have used for recent quizzes, and only a few at most may be new to my quizzes. I don't expect high scores because for this quiz you will almost always have to be familiar with the movies. Give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the clues.
1. Asperger's Syndrome, Solomon Grundy
2. Krypton, Reporter
3. Broken leg, Breeder's Cup
4. Roberts, "Inconceivable"
5. Toothpicks, Counting cards
6. Golden Arrow, "Sire"
7. Exploding Dummies, Sleeping pill
8. Shrimp, Chocolates
9. Tramp, Kid
10. Hostages, Camera crew
11. Motel, Shower curtain
12. Stutter, Abdicate
13. Rome, Princess
14. Iceberg, Artist
15. Cherokee tomahawk, Gabriel
16. Metalworks, Engraved gold ring
17. Rain in Spain, Cockney
18. Indian Princess, Date line
19. Roulette, "Beautiful friendship"
20. Cryptex, Holy Grail

Maybe this isn't as hard as I supposed it to be, so let's see how the participants will do on this one. But remember:
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
hmmm, interesting... have about 3 to go... maybe I watch too many movies.. I feel confident with 15 of them... couple are guesses and 3 I'm still trying to figure out..
I think I need more bourbon... hehe
I'm surprised and disappointed that only 4 members have participated in this quiz although it's been up for 5 days. Eleven members played the previous quiz. I'll wait another two days and then close this one off. I guess I had better not repeat this format, verbal clues, and stick to pictures from now on.
wow, only 4? That is disappointing. I thought this quiz was fairly easy. Wish more people would play these games.
On an aside.. as I know the answers I can provide them to anybody who also posts a Trump seed. Depending on which way you lean on the seed (for or against Trump) will be balanced by me providing either the correct or incorrect answers. hehe
When I started reading your comment I thought you were going to say that you would SELL the answers. LOL
hehehe... yeah, sometimes I'm a shit. LOL
I'm sorry Buzz I didn't see this quiz. I'll give it a go
You didn't read the PN I sent you giving you notice and a link to this quiz?
Still thinking, can only come up with a few
With so few trying, you could earn Honourable Mention with that.
This quiz will be closed tomorrow, so anyone who intended to post answers should do so in the next 24 hours.
Been up for a week, only seven participants and comments that the image clues are preferable. First prize for this one goes to Snuffy with 18 out of 20, Second prize for Veronica with 15, Perrie and Vic Eldred are tied for third with 14 each and Honourable Mention goes to Kathleen with 13. Again, all participants did better than a mere 50% pass grade. Next quiz will use the image clues, but it will be a while because I'm really running out of movies that are suitable, so more will be lesser known movies. Here are the answers for this quiz:
1. The Accountant. The main character had Asperger's Syndrome, also known as Autism, and when stressed he recited the nursery rhyme Solomon Grundy
2. Superman. Krypton, his planet of origin, and as Clark Kent he worked as a reporter.
3. Dreamer. The horse, cured of a broken leg, won the Breeder's Cup race.
4. The Princess Bride. The word "inconceivable" was said repeatedly by Vizzini, and Westly had become Roberts the Pirate.
5. Rain Man. Dustin Hoffman was autistic, and almost instantly was able to count toothpicks that were spilled on the floor, and also counted cards at a Las Vegas casino.
6. The Adventures of Robin Hood. The golden arrow was the prize for best archer, and King Richard was discovered when one of his knights said "Sire" out loud in an inn.
7. The Longest Day. Hitler could not be awakened to send the Panzers to the Front because he had taken a sleeping pill, and exploding dummies were parachuted by the allies.
8. Forrest Gump. He ran shrimp boats, and life is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.
9. Chaplin. There are scenes in that biographical movie of his being the famous tramp, and scenes from his movie The Kid.
10. Argo. American diplomats from the Iran Hostage Crisis were rescued by a group posing as a camera crew to film a sci-fi movie.
11. Psycho. Surely nobody has forgotten what happened behind the shower curtains in the Bates Motel.
12. The King's Speech. King George VI had a stuttering speech impediment, and his older brother abdicated, making him king.
13. Roman Holiday. A Princess has a holiday from being royalty in Rome.
14. Titanic. The ship hit an iceberg, and the male lead, DiCaprio, was an artist.
15. The Patriot. 20 British soldiers were overwhelmed by a "ghost" who wielded a Cherokee Tomahawk, and Gabriel was his son’s name.
16. Schindler's List. The Jews who were saved worked in Schindler's metalworks factory, and when he fled he was presented with an engraved gold ring.
17. My Fair Lady. That was a major song in the movie, and she had to be cured from a Cockney accent.
18. Around the World in 80 Days. He rescues an Indian Princess who then accompanies him, and picks up an extra day when he crossed the Date Line, allowing him to win his bet.
19. Casablanca. Roulette was played in Rick's Cafe Americaine, and "beautiful friendship" were the last two words spoken in the movie.
20. The DaVinci Code. The cryptex held the clue as to the location of what was considered the Holy Grail.
