Movie Quiz - A Different Concept

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.  POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

It would be wise to read this before trying the quiz....

It's time to try something different, so in order to answer these questions you will have in most cases have had to take notice of certain details in the movies.  I know there are going to be some complaints about the fact that not everyone is detail oriented, but I thought I'd give this a try.  Almost all, if not all of the movies are ones that have appeared on earlier quizzes.  What is important is that you do not bother to name any movies that are less than 4 years old, because I will not have seen them so they are NOT the answers, even if what you guess may fit the clue.  Don't expect to get a high score unless you have seen the movies, and in fact a high score for this quiz is suspicious.  So give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

1.   In what movie was the leading female character paid 2 million dollars?

2 and 3.   In what two movies did the female lead drive a powder blue Mustang convertible?

4.   In what movie did a person confess his crime into a dictaphone?

5 and 6.   In what two movies was the city of Buffalo a location and of some importance?

7.   In what movie did a man try to catch flies with chopsticks?

8.   In what movie did a king pretend to be a gardener?

9.   In what war movie did the doctors play golf for their R&R?

10.  What movie began with a lawyer playing a pinball machine?

11.  In what movie did a judge eat his lunch sitting on the edge of a roof?

12.  In what movie did the lead actor pretend his hand was chopped off?

13.  In what movie did a cropduster pilot sacrifice his life to save the world?

14 and 15.  In what two movies is the top structure of a building mentioned in the title?

16.  In what movie were library books burned for warmth?

17 and 18.  What two movies end with a father playing catch with his son?

19.  In what movie did the Anatole France character give the eulogy for the movie's main character?

20.  In what movie did one of the major characters kick a bottle of Vichy water?

Here's a new concept for a movie quiz - read the instructions and give it a try, but remember, movies that are less than 4 years old will not be accepted as answers, and....

It was definitely different. But it was fun...  I'll give you a hint,  the answer to number 22 is not 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'.   hehe

Number 22 was the winning roulette number in Casablanca, which Rick ordered the croupier to make happen twice in a row..  That enabled the young couple to have the money to purchase exit visas or letters of transit without the young woman having to sleep with Captain Renault.

You see TG,  I told you it wasn't 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest'.

Thanks Buzz..   always good to have the backup proof.

Try me on anything about the movie Casablanca - I've watched it, my favourite movie of all time, more times than I can possibly remember.

At this point in time only three members have participated, but only two of the 20 movies have not yet been  identified by someone or other, so although it may be hard, it is not impossible.  In most cases the movies will have to have been seen.

The response to this quiz is somewhat disappointing.  I guess "the usual suspects" (what movie is that from?) are stumped and don't want to be embarrassed by indicatng a low acore.  This test wasn't a game, like being able to say what an image was even if you had no clue what the movie was, it was a test for people who watch a lot of movies.  Tell you what.  I'll announce what the winning score was, and who came second, third and honourable mention without indicating what their scores were.  Does that halp some participants to decide to give it a try?

I hope more people try.  These quiz's are fun and a nice change from the normal partisan blather most seeds have.

Yes, this one was a little different and it did require that we actually saw the movies.  But none of these are recent movies (oh damn,  I gave away a clue) and I'm willing to bet that most everybody here has seen most of them. Out of the 20 movies, there's only one that I had not seen over the years.

So come on people,  get your choices in.....

The time has come, the walrus said, to close the quiz and show the answers.  I was disappointed that so many who had done okay on previous quizzes refused to even try this one, and I'll bet that when they see the answers they're going to slap their foreheads and say "Oh sh**, I knew that."   Because in this case, contrary to just looking at and identifying a couple of images, it would have been necessary to actually have seen the movies in most cases to be able to provide an answer, so I did not expect high scores, and save for Snuffy who showed his movie knowledge with 16 out of 20, the scores were expectedly low.  JohnRussell gets second prize, Kathleen gets third, MsAubrey and Charger both deserve Honourable Mention for giving it a shot.  Here are the answers:

Double answers can be in any order.

1.   Erin Brokovich
2 and 3   A Cinderella Story  and  The Princess Diaries
4.   Double Indemnity
5 and 6.  A Princess for Christmas  and   Bruce Almighty
7.   The Karate Kid
8.   A Little Chaos
9.   M*A*S*H
10.  The Verdict
11.  And Justice for All
12.  Roman Holiday
13.  Independance Day
14 and 15.  Fiddler on the Roof  and  Cat On a Hot Tin Roof
16.  The Day After Tomorrow
17 and 18.  Field of Dreams  and  The Natural
19.  The Life of Emile Zola
20.  Casablanca

Thanks to those who gave it a try, even knowing they were not going to be winners.

Most of those movies, I haven't even seen... that might be why I struggled with those.

This was a fun one, thanks Buzz.  It was more difficult as not only did you have to see the movies but you had to also remember some little detail from the movie. I'm surprised I got as good a score as i did as I can't remember what I had for dinner last night.

"I can't remember what I had for dinner last night."

You're better off than me, I couldn't remember where I put my glasses 5 minutes ago, then my wife told me I was wearing them.
