HAVE YOU MISSED MY MOVIE QUIZZES? HERE YOU GO.
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
It would be wise to read this before trying the quiz....
It's been a long time since I posted the last one, which was too hard for most although the top score was still 16/20. I think you'll find this quiz a little easier. These are movies I don't think I've ever used before, except maybe for one or two at most. Some are more unusual, some animated films, some less known ones and some classics. In most cases, just identifying the images will tell you the title of the movie, but a few images were of an item or scenario that is a primary object or otherwise indicative of the plot. None of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movie films and I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching is cheating anyway. So with many of these if you just say what the pictures are out loud you've named the movie.
TAKE NOTE: Only movies released no more recently than 2017 will be considered answers, even if the clues are applicable to more recent ones, as I will not have seen those recent movies. All the clues are specific to movies released before 2018.
Give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

POLITICS AND RELIGION ARE OFF TOPIC. THIS IS A GAME, NOT A DISCUSSION.
I know the last quiz I did was really tough, and probably discouraged a lot of regular participants, but I've gone back to the two-image clue and quite a few of the movies can be named just from saying what the clues are out loud. There is a certain group of members who participate, and it would be nice to see if some of the members who only post politics would take a rest from it and jump in. Everyone who does these say it's fun, so have some fun.
Just remember...

Thanks for the game. thinking about the clues
I think I know about half of them at first glance. I will have to think about the others for a couple days.
At this early point in time for the quiz to be open, three have participated so far and only 2 of the questions are still unanswered. I know number 4 is pretty tough to figure out from the clues, but number 9 should be fairly obvious.
Hi Buzz. I'll give it a go.
NOTICE NUMBER 4 HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED
Sorry, I screwed up. The original number 4, which were clues for a movie called "Be Somebody" are no longer applicable 'ab initio'. For all participants, including those who have already submitted answers, please note the new clues for a different movie. Those who have already participated can earn another point by guessing the correct name of the movie for the new clues for number 4.
By the way, someone has answered number 9 correctly, so number 4 is the only one yet to be identified.
Never heard of it.
Be Somebody (2016)
(An American film with a really poor box office that they showed on cable TV here in China)
So far there have been 7 responses, and I'm hoping for a few more in the next couple of days. There are no impossible questions, because every one of them has been answered correctly by someone or other. Looking for some fresh blood here. Surely out of the NT membership there are more than a dozen who like to watch movies.
Actually, someone else would be better qualified to prepare a quiz about politics - I'm sure THAT would get a great response on this site.
yeah, there would be a large response to that quiz. But as you well know it would be an ugly thread.
And submitted - sorry for the late entry, work has been crazy this week. We have way too much to get done before September so it's gonna be a rough summer.
I sent my guesses in, a fun game and thanks for putting it together
Ten members have participated so far, and all the questions have been correctly answered by someone or other, so the quiz was do-able. The average of the scores so far is 11.6. In case anyone is holding back, I've decided to close it off tomorrow (24 hours or so from now).
Ten NT members decided to have some fun instead of the usual political animosity - so my thanks to you ten who give me the impetus to create these quizzes. Now to announce the winners of this one. Snuffy leads again with a score of 16 out of 20. Veronica came close - second place with 15, and Kathleen made third with 14 1/2. JohnRussell earned Honourable Mention with 13, and a few others got pretty close to that. For the forehead-slappers (those who will see the answers and say "Damn, I SHOULD have known that") here are the answers:
1. Wild Hogs - 4 Harleys (Hogs) and wild hogs
2. Captain Phillips - Sea Captain hat and Maersk container ship
3. The Grand Seduction - cricket match and stethascope
4. The Dark Tower - a dark tower and Gunslinger
5. Rabbit Proof Fence - a rabbit and a fence
6. Shakespeare In Love - image of the bard and an arrow-pierced heart
7. Close Encounters of the Third Kind - flying saucer and Roman numeral III (Alien 3 was okay too)
8. K-Pax - the letter K and a Pax symbol
9. Leon the Professional - Leon the lion and young girl with gun
10. Stand By Me - group of 4 boys and a train coming fast
11. The Pianist - person playing piano and a German officer's cap
12. Edward Scissorhands - Edward the Abdicator and scissors
13. Blue Velvet - colour blue and velvet cloth
14. The Dirty Dozen - kid with dirty hands and a dozen eggs
15. Toy Story - toys and a storybook
16. Point Blank - man pointing - and a blank sheet of paper
17. A Night at the Opera - night sky and an opera
18. Little Big Man - image of both a big and a little man and an Indian Brave
19. UP - house in the air and many balloons rising
20. Aladdin - a lamp and a flying carpet
I'll start thinking about another one - it's at least as much fun for me to put them together as it is to do the guessing.
Buzz do you actually think there was the slightest chance that someone would arrive at "The Grand Seduction" from those clues, unless they had seen the movie??
Personally I have never heard of it.
Never heard of K-Pax either.
I don't expect everyone to see every movie for which I post clues. I saw The Grand Seduction, and two participants answered that question correctly, one of whom said they loved the principal actor. What should I have posted as clues? A Thousand dollar banknote and a couple screwing? Not everyone has seen every movie I use. In fact I haven't seen 4 of the movies on this quiz. I didn't see a lot of the movies on the quiz YOU created, and in fact I only got a score of 10 out of 20 and you had to have seen those movies to know the answers. I don't expect perfect scores, but it's great that that has happened on my quizzes.
By the way, K-PAX was a great movie, had a sci-fi aspect to it, released 20 years ago, starring Kevin Spacey, Jeff Bridges and Mary McCormack. It grossed 65 million world wide, over 17 million opening U.S. and Canada weekend box office, so it was hardly an unknown movie.
It was fun!
Thank you. That's the most important thing.
Yes it was fun. Thanks Buzz..
