OSCAR WINNERS MOVIE QUIZ - MUCH EASIER
OSCAR WINNERS MOVIE QUIZ - MUCH EASIER
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
It would be wise to read this before trying the quiz....
This quiz should be a LOT easier than the last couple I posted. The answers are all best picture Oscar winners, and there are only 90 to choose from (the most recent 3 are not included). That means that not only do you have the two image clues, but a third clue - the movies are included in a list of only 90 most famous movies. Go ahead and check the list on the internet and, as before, in many cases, just identifying the images will tell you the title of the movie, but some images may be of an item or scenario that is a primary object or otherwise indicative of the plot or movie name, and you might have to have seen the movie to identify the movie. A number of the movies had been included in previous quizzes, and although in almost every one I've changed the images, that, too, should make it easier. I don't think any of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movies and I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching is cheating anyway (except in this case to just check out the list of the 90 Oscar winners).
TAKE NOTE: Only movies that were released up to 2017 will be acceptable, and since the quiz is specific for Oscar winners, no alternatives will be considered.
My thanks to JohnRussell for suggesting this concept. It might be TOO easy, and I expect more than one 100%, so the next quiz will be based on movies that were NOMINATED, but did not win the best picture Oscar - and in that case there are a lot more from which to choose, but still they should be better known movies.
Give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

This one should be really easy, because all the movies are on the list of Academy Award Best Picture Oscar winners. Even if you're not a movie maven you're going to get a good score on this one, so give it a try. Even the NT "philistines" who only know politics would do well with this quiz, but I'm sure their interests lie elsewhere. But remember....

At first glance I recognize about half of them, the others I will have to give a lot of thought.
It's okay to check the list of Oscar winners for this quiz - so I'm sure you'll come up with a high score. It was your idea.
I wasnt planning on cheating , and if I look at the list of Oscar winners I will get 100%.
I was trying to get you to use movies that more people remember in your quizzes. I guess we will see what happens with this one.
Make your next quiz based off the top 100 box office hits of all time. That should be the ultimate test of whether or not people can score high on these quizzes.
Since so many shied away from the last quiz I thought I had to do a confidence-builder. Next quiz will be the nominees for best picture Oscar, and that will be more of a challenge.
ok
It's not as easy as it looks. I'll give it a go.
I'm guessing some of these are older than I am and the few that aren't are the ones I could get at first glance.
I don't know how old you are but there's a good chance that at least a few of them are older than you.
I was born in Jan 1979.
Sorry that I never attempted. I had to get off the site for a while.
Holy smoke. What a shock when I looked at the Home (Front) Page and saw this article come up that I had closed off two months ago.
I will have to think about them, because I only could come up with about two of those at first glance.
It's 10 p.m. and I'm off to bed - hope to see some answers when I wake.
So far only four have submitted their answers, and as expected, the scores are pretty good, although nobody has been perfect yet. All of the movies have been identified - so it's not a tough quiz. Even an NT member whose brain is locked into politics could do okay on this quiz, and have fun, but I guess I'm not aware that politics is fun.
Seven members have participated. Everyone has done better than a mere passing score. I will be closing off the quiz soon so if anyone else wants to give it a try, please do it within the next day,.
Okay, time to close off the quiz. The winner is Veronica, with a score of 18 1/2, followed by Snuffy in second place with 18 and coming in third is Sandy with 17. Honourable Mention goes to Perrie with 16 1/2. Even though there were only 90 movies from which to pick 20, it seems this was a little harder than expected. However, every movie was identified by one or another. The next quiz will be made up of the nominees for the best movie Oscar, and for that there are a lot more to choose from. Here are the answers for the now-closed quiz:
1 Schindler's List - little girl in a red dress, and a boxcar
2. Rain Man - 1949 Buick Roadmaster convertible, and Las Vegas
3. The English Patient - Union Jack, and a hospital patient
4. A Man For All Seasons - a man, and images of the 4 seasons
5. The Shape of Water - series of shapes, and water
6. Grand Hotel - $1,000 bill (a grand), and a hotel (the NYC Plaza)
7. The Deer Hunter - a deer, and a hunter
8. All Quiet on the Western Front - person shushing for quiet, and compass with hand pointing west
9. The Hurt Locker - kid with hurt knee, and lockers
10. The Broadway Melody - Broadway NYC scene, and musical notes
11. Midnight Cowboy - clock tower at midnight, and a cowboy
12. Titanic - heart-shaped blue diamond, and drawing a woman on a sketch pad.
13. Annie Hall - lineup to buy movie tickets, and boiling lobsters
14. West Side Story - compass pointing west, and a story book
15. The Apartment - an apartment, and an unmade bed
16. On The Waterfront - boxing gloves, and a waterfront scene
17. Hamlet - Little Mermaid statue in Denmark, and Yorick's skull ("Alas, poor Yorick")
18. Braveheart - an Indian Brave, and a heart
19. In The Heat Of The Night - Thermometer showing very hot temperature, and a night scene
20. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King - rings, and a king's crown
My thanks to the seven members who participated.
Wait, how does one score 16 1/2?
You're wondering about the half marks?
I was, but I think there's an explanation on the article for your new quiz.
Yep
Congratulations Veronica... and Sandy & Perrie... fun quiz, thanks Buzz.
Thank you, Buzz. Wanted to let you know I will be on vacation all of next week so if you post a new one then I will probably miss it. I don't want you to think I was ignoring you.
Okay, well I will be posting in a couple of days, but there will still be more coming.
