MOVIE QUIZ - BIOGRAPHICAL FILMS
MOVIE QUIZ - BIOGRAPHICAL FILMS
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is that the movie has to be a biography , maybe fictionalized, probably dramatized, but a story of at least part of the actual life of a real person. Some of the movies go back as far as the 1930s. As before, in many cases just identifying the images will tell you the title of the movie, but some images may be of an item or scenario that is a primary object or otherwise indicative of the plot or movie name, and you might have to have seen the movie to identify the movie. A few of the questions were included in previous quizzes, but even if so I tried not to use the same image clues, and as usual I don't think any of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
THE RULES
Since it is not impossible for you to find the actual movie names I will be fairly strict in my scoring, so even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, you will lose a half mark if you do not say "The" if the movie name starts with that word, or if you make the title two words when it is only one, for example not "Brave Heart", but "Braveheart" Also, do NOT forget spelling and punctuation marks if they are part of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. The images should be a CLUE to the ACTUAL name of the movie. The correct answer is the name of the ORIGINAL movie, and not the name of a remake or sequel if it differs. TV programs and TV series such as West Wing are not answers, but I will accept TV movies like QB VII (which is an adaptation of a novel) or some miniseries if they are an adaptation of a novel that is too long for one showing and are spread out, like the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. And since you are not e e cummings you'll be docked half marks if you don't use capital letters where they belong.
I am sorry if the rules concern you, but they are required so that I can treat each participant equally and fairly, because I don't want to have to make a judgement call on every error that is made and that is why the line has to be drawn somewhere, and the only thing that is consistent is if the title is absolutely correct.
There are some hard ones, even some VERY hard ones,to guess, and also some very easy ones, so give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

Here we go again, but this time, PLEASE, PLEASE, read the whole introduction AND THE RULES if you want to get full marks for your answers. The only way I can be fair to everyone is if I do not have to make judgement calls on how good your answers are, and my not having to "draw the line" is if the answer is perfect, so do not complain if you don't want to follow the rules and only get half-marks, because that is my red line. Some questions are easy, but some are hard and some could be very hard because some movies are from as far back as the 1930s. But remember (and if I could put this in flashing neon lights I would).....

P.S. You only need to name the movie, not the person it's about.
This will take some thinking!
I'll give it a whirl, because I'm pretty positive about a few, but I know I won't get most of these again. Still fun!
Perhaps this quiz is not as difficult as I thought it would be, because already only one of the questions remains unanswered. And only the title of the movie is necessary, not the name of the person whose biography it is.
Wow..... and here I am thinking this is gonna require a lot more thinking on my part. But I don't pay much attention to if a movie is a biography or not, and I'm much more into war & entertainment movies than biography & history...
That one remaining question has now been properly answered, so every question on this quiz has been answered by someone or other after only four members have posted their answers. That indicates that this quiz is probably easier than I thought it would be.
Hellooooooooo out there. Anybody home?
still thinking
Just trying to keep this from being pushed off the front page by political rant articles.
Well good for you. It's nice to see things we can discuss that are not political.
bump
Well, this quiz went over like a lead balloon. I'm going to close it tomorrow. I'll try Romance movies to see if that can be more popular. Of course I'm sure a POLITICAL movie quiz is BOUND to interest most of the members of NT.
Any political movie quiz... you can count me out.
Seems that biographical movies counted most participants out, but don't worry, Romance is next.
I was surprised that I was able to get as many as I did actually. I didn't realize how many biographical films I've actually watched!
i sent a few answers
More than just a few. Thanks, I replied.
The quiz is now closed, and having followed a quiz in which 15 participated, only 6 providing answers was a bit disappointing. However, maybe if I post a quiz based on Romance Movies, the participation may increase. We will see. The winner this time is JohnRussell with a score of 18 out of 20, followed by Veronica with 16 and then Vic Eldred with 15 came in third. Honourable Mention goes to MsAubrey for her score of 13 1/2. My thanks to all who participated. Here are the answers:
1. Viva Zapata! - Mexican bandit & Zapata's horse in the mountain (Emiliano Zapata)
2. Lust for Life - "desire" is a synonym for "lust" & LIFE magazine (Vincent Van Gogh)
3. The Life of Emile Zola - vintage image of a man writing & Dreyfus being punished
4. The Blind Side - a blind man & a football (Michael Oher)
5. The Desert Fox - a desert fox & a German Field Marshal cap (Rommel)
6, Marie Curie - (Radioactive is also ok) - woman scientist and a radiation sign
7. Evita - actual photos of her waving to crowd & in a coffin
8. The Story of Louis Pasteur - scientist & pasteurized milk
9. Chaplin - the famous Chaplin tramp & a special honourary Oscar
10. Amadeus - person at piano & The Magic Flute (Mozart)
11. The Last Emperor - iconic "end of movie" image & child on Emperor's throne
