Boris Karloff: The Man Behind The Monster (2021) - Official Trailer (HD)
When I was nine, I played the demon king in "Cinderella" and it launched me on a long and happy life of being a monster. - Boris Karloff
A new documentary on one of films greatest character actor, Boris Karloff, drops on Shudder streaming this Thursday. The Black Cat is one of my favorite horror films ever staring Karloff and Bela Lugosi.
Starting February 1st, you can watch Karloff in Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein, and House of Frankenstein on Shudder. Other Karloff movies, The Mummy, The Black Cat, The Old Dark House and Mario Bava’s Black Sabbath are already streaming there.
I'm super excited about streaming this documentary this weekend. I get Shudder through AMC+ which we got on a promotional .99 cents a month for a whole year. If not, I think it's still a decent deal - as well as AMC & Shudder you get Sundance Now and IFC Films Unlimited.
I think I'll re-watch The Black Cat after watching the documentary...
Boris Karloff narrated my all time favorite Christmas show
Mine too. The Grinch is talked about in the documentary...
I found this when poking around on Boris history.
That's interesting. Lon Chaney's Hunchback came out in 1923.
I never knew that he was of Indian (India) descent.
Here is a link that explains much of his background.

Frankenstein scared the shit out of me as a child.
All through grade school and into high school I was enthralled with the original Universal Monsters and kept trying to figure out ways to create my own makeup effects for Halloween.
Here's an image that evokes a bit of thought... (note I don't have attribution for this photo. IF anyone does let me know so I can post it here too.)
Tea and a cig. Haha
I'd venture to say it's a photo of him taken as he rested in between filming scenes on a movie set.
I remember being very saddened when Karloff died on February 2nd of 1969. I attended a high school basketball game that evening. He was "Iconic"...
If anyone get's back here to read this comment - I watched the documentary last night and it was extremally well done. I really covered his whole life and career. There were so many things on Karloff I did not know that were very interesting.
