MOVIE QUIZ - JULIA ROBERTS & AL PACINO FILMS
MOVIE QUIZ - JULIA ROBERTS & AL PACINO FILMS
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, HINT AT OR POST MOVIE NAMES OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, 'BUZZ of the ORIENT' , AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can .
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW IN ORDER TO GET A BETTER SCORE. IT IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS INTRODUCTIONS. I HAVE DECIDED TO BE MUCH MORE LENIENT IN MY SCORING AND HAVE DONE AWAY WITH MANY PREVIOUS RULES (BUT THERE STILL ARE RULES).
For this quiz, besides the two image clues, the third clue, and requirement, is that the movie MUST be one in which either Julia Roberts or Al Pacino acted, and it could be any genre. Since, between the two of them, they acted in about 110 movies, that limited number should help you to zero in on the answers. Both are living actors still active so none of the movies are TOO old, well, maybe a few are, but at least most of them were very popular movies with a good chance that you've seen them. I have seen most of these movies myself (although some many decades ago), so for some of them the clues could be of an item or scenario that is a primary object in or otherwise indicative of or important to the plot. That might make the quiz a little more difficult if you've not seen the movie.
Some of the movies were included in previous quizzes, but even if so I tried not to use the same image clues, and as usual I don't think any of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory, web searching using web programs that identify movies from naming the clues is cheating, but once you think you know the answer I recommend that you check to make sure it is correct. Participants keep losing points because they fail to do that.
Two hints, for all my quizzes. I never put the same movie twice on the same quiz, and the order in which I post clues for each question is significant.
THE RULES
You will not lose score for not capitalizing or using proper punctuation or correct spelling or adding an extraneous or leaving off a "the" or "A", but I will have to make a decision between your just naming what the clues are and the actual movie name. Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie, which is why I recommend that you check to make sure the name is correct, because the images may only be a CLUE to the ACTUAL name of the movie.
Lately I've been getting two word answers when the movie has a single word title (like Dodge Ball, when the correct answer is Dodgeball). Because that could mean that all you have done is name the clues with no knowledge what the movie is I may not provide a mark for such an answer. The same can happen if you make a two word actual movie title into only one word. If you would do as I suggested and check on the web with the answer you were going to post you would find out the correct name of the movie and not lose a point. .
Remakes of original movies with the same name will be acceptable (provided that either Julia Roberts or Al Pacino are actors in them). If you name movies that I feel the clues identify as well or better than the ones I used, I have been accepting them as good answers as well, although in the case of a specific actor quiz like this one I don't think that will happen.
TV programs and TV series such as West Wing are NOT acceptable answers, but I will accept TV movies like QB VII (which is an adaptation of a novel) or some miniseries if they are an adaptation of a novel that is too long for one episode and are spread out, like the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
If you're not sure, don't leave a blank but guess - you could be right. There are both hard ones to guess, and also easy ones, so give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

Eight members participated in the last quiz, in which 3 members got perfect 20 scores, and the lowest score was 15. When I went to school 75% was an honours mark. This one might be a little harder, and I hope more members will give it a try. So please read the introduction first - there are some things in it you should know,, including a couple of hints to prevent you from making mistakes. So let's see how you do on this one, but remember, as always....

Corrected answer up as well, almost overthought another one...
You're lucky I hadn't scored you yet.
NOTICE: This quiz will be closed and the winners announced tomorrow at about this time Sunday evening (New York Time). Anyone still intending to send me their answers should do so soon.
Answers and guesses sent in. Just got them together been a busy week
Received and scored.
As I said I would do, this quiz is now closed. Although I sent notice of the quiz to 19 former participants, only 4 members participated, in which case I am now thinking that posting these quizzes is just a waste of my time - one day I may give it another try. The winning list is as follows with every member who participated represented, Nowhereman is in first place with a score of 19 out of 20, Charger 383 came in second with 18, Split Personality took third with 17 and Vic Eldred earned Honourable Mention with 16. All decent scores, which tells me this quiz was not difficult and everyone could have done well. Not one question was left unanswered by at least someone or other with the only question that eluded all except Nowhereman was number 4, Manglehorn. My thanks to those who participated. Here are the answers:
1. The Pelican Brief - a pelican & Darby's lover's car blown up
2. Hook - Tinker Bell & a frying pan (Peter Pan)
3. The Devil's Advocate - man standing on a high roof & a vanity. Pacino's last line in the movie was "Vanity is my favourite sin.")
4. Manglehorn - the Mangle character & a horn
5. The Recruit - CIA logo & a farm (CIA training facility is called "The Farm")
6. The Godfather - posters show Don Vito Corleone (Brando) during his daughter's wedding reception sitting with a cat in his lap & Luco Brazzi "sleeps with the fish"
7. ...And Justice For All - Madame Justice stature & 2 men in a helicopter
8. Pretty Woman - woman in a bubble bath & Rodeo Drive street sign
9. My Best Friend's Wedding - 2 girl best friends & wedding scene
10. Ocean's 11 - the ocean & dice showing 11
11. The Mexican - a Mexican & the MacGuffin, a vintage inlaid pistol
12. Scarface - cocaine & the iconic line, "Say hello to my little friend."
13. Erin Brockovich - water being polluted & Erin had been a teen beauty queen

Thanks Buzz...
And the one I missed was cause I had never even heard of it before, The Recruit... Yep he got one I hadn't seen...
I've since downloaded it and have watched it...
I watched The Recruit here on regular TV.
I think you just happened to have this quiz running when the defining moment of the year is taking place... And it consumed almost everyone attention...
Heck for a day, even the political hate went away.... So my friend, take a break and come back when you feel better about them....
Thanks...
Sorry Buzz. NWMan had it right, there's just too much going on right now and part of the world is exhibiting a crazy that just takes most peoples attention. For myself it's also been non-stop running for my stepdaughter, her husband (both are doing much better now) and taking care of the grandkids. I'll have some time for the next quiz but just couldn't find the free time this go-around.
Going to take a rest from it, and most likely will do another one day. For me it's a fun thing to do, but I'll wait until the world calms down.
