A mixed review
I saw this movie over the weekend, it was free to me on Peacock. It is set in 1950's Chicago when the Chicago Outfit was enjoying it's heyday. Even without even being in Chicago, I got the feeling of Taylor Street before the UIC campus devoured it. It doesn't take long to figure out that this is a modern version of what they used to call a melodrama. The reason I say modern is because intrigue is overdone in this movie. Too many twists and turns, though I'm sure people will like the way the main character "Leonard" seems to always come up with the most convincing lies when needed. The final scene didn't really fit and was unnecessary IMO.
The acting is well done. It was entertaining, though it's not the kind of movie I'd see again.
One big issue I have was the title. The story has little to do with the Chicago Outfit. Don't you like when they use a specific title for a non-related work of fiction. It's like making a movie about a Russian farmer during WWII and calling it Joseph Stalin.
