MOVIE QUIZ - BRANDO & BERGMAN
MOVIE QUIZ - BRANDO & BERGMAN
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A COMMENT, HINT AT OR POST MOVIE NAMES OR QUOTES OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, 'BUZZ of the ORIENT', AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I'm on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can .
PLEASE, PLEASE READ WHAT IS BELOW IN ORDER TO GET A BETTER SCORE. IT IS ALWAYS SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS INTRODUCTIONS.
For this quiz, besides the two image clues, the third clue, and requirement , is that the movie MUST be one in which either Marlon Brando or Ingrid Bergman acted, and it could be any genre. Brando acted in 39 movies and Bergman acted in a little more than 40 movies. I have seen about 14 of the ones in the quiz myself (some many decades ago), so the clues can either indicate the title of the movie or the clues could be of an item or scenario that is a primary object in or otherwise indicative of or important to the plot which might make the quiz a little more difficult if you've not seen the movie or at least read the synopsis.
Because neither of them made that many movies I did not refer to a specific list of them which could put you more to the test than when I do. However, I suggest that you check the lists of their movies to find which movies the clues are for, and to make sure your titles are correct.
Most of the movies were included in previous quizzes, but even if so I tried not to use the same image clues, and as usual I don't think any of the image clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your movie memory and identification skills, web searching using web programs that identify movies from naming the clues is cheating, but once you think you know the answer I recommend that you check to make sure it is correct. Participants keep losing points because they fail to do that, and in fact on the Bogart quiz 3 participants did not check the names and DID lose points.
Two hints, for all my quizzes. I never put the same movie twice on the same quiz, and the order in which I post clues for each question is usually significant.
THE RULES
You will not lose score for not capitalizing or using proper punctuation or correct spelling or adding an extraneous or leaving off a "the" or "A", but I will have to make a decision between your just naming what the clues are and the actual movie name. Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie, which is why I recommend that you check to make sure the name is correct if you're not sure of it, because the images may only be a clue to the ACTUAL name of the movie.
Remakes of original movies with the same name will be acceptable (provided that either Marlon Brando or Ingrid Bergman is an actor in the remake). If you name movies that I feel the clues identify as well or better than the ones I used, I have been accepting them as good answers as well, but keep in mind that Marlon Brando or Ingrid Bergman must be an actor in the movie.
If you're not sure, don't leave a blank but guess - you could be right and I don’t subtract a point if you’re wrong. There are both hard ones to guess, and also easy ones, so give it a try and NAME THESE MOVIES.
Please number your answers the same as the images.

Time for another movie quiz now that a month has gone by. For this quiz either Marlon Brando or Ingrid Bergman must have acted in the movies. Neither of them had made that many movies which is why I have combined them. For that reason I have not provided links to lists of their movies, but any complete list of their movies will contain the ones on this quiz. So please give this one a try, read the introduction and rules above, and as always PLEASE REMEMBER...

This one might be hard
I'm sure you're not afraid of a challenge.
I think it may be time to think about movies. We need it right now!
I came to that conclusion a long time ago.
I'll give it a try, but, right now I have only one.
You need to compare the clues with the movie titles on their lists of movies. Some are pretty obvious.
Buzz - Thanks for another movie quiz challenge! I'll use IMDb and/or Ranker to verify before submitting.
As long as more than just a few participate I'll keep posting them.
Although it's following a holiday weekend, I'm a bit disappointed in that this quiz has been promoted to my list of 21 participants 3 days ago and so far only 2 have sent their answers, and the article has been wiped off the front page. Only one question has not been answered, one that actually surprises me that it was so elusive. However, I'm sure it will be answered soon indicating to me that the quiz is not that difficult.
I got a late start on this one, but I'm still working on it. Only 6 more to go!
Better late than never, as they say.
You're still on the "Columnists" List. Maybe my comment will put the quiz back onto the "Trending Articles" list? Here's hoping!
I think it did - thanks.
Quiz answers submitted. Thanks again, Buzz!
I will check them in a little while. Right now I'm too upset, but will soon recover.
I should explain my comment - I was quite upset about the news of Queen Elizabeth's death - as a Canadian, she was my queen. Anyway, I've now scored your answers.
I can empathize with your being upset. Queen Elizabeth was beloved by millions around the world who aren't part of the British Commonwealth, and we mourn her passing. To me, she successfully joined the "old" and the "new" but was never political. She was regal, elegant, yet modest. I, for one, shall miss her.
Working on it

Received and scored. Thank you.
Always a teacher. Haha
It's hard to shake it.
The quiz will be closed and winners announced in two days from now, i.e. in about 48 hours.
With almost two days to go, there is still time to try this quiz. The scores so far have indicated that it is not that hard a quiz to get a good score. It's disappointing that only 4 have submitted answers so far. I know there is lots of juicy or else very sad news to keep everyone's attention, but maybe a break from that to do something that pretty well every participant has told me is fun to do should have at least some priority.
Never been much of a Brando or Bergman fan. I only got one movie clue.
Had you gone through the lists of their movies as I had suggested, you may have seen that the clues for many of the questions clearly indicate the titles of the movies, even if you never saw the movie or knew the story.
NOTICE: This quiz will be closed in about 24 hours, i.e. Sunday evening at about 9:30 p.m. NYC time. Think of those signs the weirdos hold up when it looks like the end of the world: "THERE'S STILL TIME, BROTHER".
THE QUIZ WILL BE CLOSED SUNDAY EVENING (NYC TIME) i.e. in approximately 12 hours from now.
THE QUIZ IS NOW CLOSED. The winners, in first place with scores of 19 are Charger 383 and Kathleen. In second place with scores of 18 are Vic Eldred and Jasper, while third place with a score of 10 is Raven Wing. Proving that you don't need to have a high score to qualify for the winners circle is Ed-NavDoc with a score of 1, that's right, ONE. He answered number 5, The Godfather, and did not even guess any of the other 19. I would not have mentioned it but in a comment on the article he said it himself that he could only answer one of the questions. There were no other participants, even though I send a notification of the quiz to 21 who have participated. So to bring a few of you back with a quiz that you cannot possibly say is too hard for you, or you haven't seen the movies, etc. I am going to post a quiz to see who can accomplish getting LESS than a perfect score of 20. Watch for it.
Thanks to those who DID participate, although I realize so much else has been happening these days to capture your attention, such as the death of the Queen, the documents at Mar-a-Lago, etc. Here are the answers for those who have the valuable time it takes to look them over and slap their foreheads with the thought that they COULD have answered that quiz, but then who wants to have fun these days anyway.

8. Murder on the Orient Express - a murdered man & a traiin

12. On the Waterfront - a boxing scene & a waterfront scene

19. The Yellow Rolls Royce - a yellow Rolls Royce & number 3 (there were 3 different parts to the story)
20. Viva Zapata - a Mexican sombrero & a horse in the mountain (because the suspicion was that Zapata's spirit still lived in that horse)
The only question that nobody could answer was number 15, the movie Spellbound. Most guessed it was Gaslight because there was an attempt to drive Bergman insane and the flame clue made one think of a gas light. However the fact is that the insane person clue was much more indicative of the fact that Bergman was a psychiatrist in an insane asylum, and the burn mark on the hand in the second clue was instrumental for being able to identify someone important to the plot. I heard from someone that had not done the quiz, who had watched Spellbound, who told me that the burn on the hand was a decisive clue that indicated the movie Spellbound, and had nothing to do with Gaslight. That is why I did not, as I have done before, changed the clues to a different movie when nobody got it right.
