PUBLIC DOMAIN MOVIE QUIZ
PUBLIC DOMAIN MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be one of the first 100 movies on the PUBLIC DOMAIN MOVIES - RANKED WORST TO BEST - IMDb , list linked below. There are 147 movies on the list but the movies on this quiz are only from the first page of 100 movies. You can ignore the second page of movies nos. 101 to 147. Open and use the list to help you with your decisions and title accuracy. The release year of the movie is not necessary.

I have seen only six of the first 100 movies on the IMDb list myself, two of which are in the quiz, so most of the answers could be determined just from the images without having seen the movies but some will have clues that represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to know the story or have seen the movie for the clues or at least read the blurb about the movie on the IMDb list to be meaningful. The two on the quiz that I've seen have been included in previous quizzes, but these are all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating, but I suggest that you review the first 100 movies on the IMDb list I linked to help you answer the questions.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked IMDb movie list to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. In the previous quiz I accepted as ok the word "and" even though the title used a "&". So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the first 100 movies on the list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In the previous quiz I did accept an alternative. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide alternatives.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

It’s been more than a month, so here we go again. There are more different kinds of lists of movies than I realized, so this time the answers are to be from the first page only of a list of Public Domain movies, which in most cases means that the movies have outlived their copyrights so they are free to show and watch. Therefore, most of them are older movies, but not too old. Since I've only seen two of the movies on the quiz myself, most of the answers can be determined just by naming what the clues are or by checking the blurb about the movie on the linked IMDb list, and you should still check your answer with the list to make sure your answers are correct. Read the whole introduction so you don’t make mistakes. Give this one a go, and as always....
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE NAMES, OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
This quiz will be closed and the winners announced this coming Monday evening 9;30 pm New York City time.
Woo Hoo!!! Happy December 1st and a new movie quiz... spending way too much time as chauffeur today for my daughter and her sick daughter but will get to this in the coming days...
Looking forward to it. Best wishes for your granddaughter's recovery.
Submitted, fun quiz. Thanks. And thanks, the granddaughter will be fine. Just a touch of the flu but she's 15 months and handling it well.
Received and scored. Thanks.
I've been experiencing Movie Quiz withdrawal symptoms, so thanks for posting a new one!
Happy to have cured your malady.
You have. Three more to go!
Have fun.
studying the clues
I don't know many of the movies on the list, and I guess most people don't as well, so it will probably be a bit tougher to score high.
Amazing how many (deleted) movies were on the list, some with the same plot!
Quite a few "classics" as well.
Bump
Bumpity back to the front page so more people can see and play
Waiting patiently.
Have only received one submission so far, hope the weekend gives the usual suspects time to complete and compete.

Received and scored. Thank you.

Received and scored. Thank you.
At this point three members have submitted their answers and all have done well. I can say now that none of the questions are unanswerable.
Ooops, this got wiped off the Home (Front) Page - need some help here.
Bumping back to the front page for more people to see and play
Hope it helps cause only 3 have participated so far.
Just submitted my answers. Hope this comment bumps us back onto the Front Page!
Yep - back on Front Page!
It did, thank you.
So it is.
NOTICE TO POTENTIAL QUIZ PARTICIPANTS: Seven members have participated, and almost all got high scores indicating that this is an easy and fun quiz to do. At this point in time there is a day (i.e. about 24 hours) remaining to submit answers. The quiz will be closed and the winners announced at around 9:30 p.m. tomorrow (Monday) evening New York City time.
bumping back to the front page as the quiz ends tonight. Get your answers in people...
Eight have submitted answers so far, but that's less than half of those who have previously participated. Too few take the time to have a little fun.
That's a shame. These quiz's are a nice break from the normal bullshit that happens on this board. And this quiz was so easy.. not at all like you giving a movie title and then asking us to identify the macguffin.
Hey, Snuffy, I did that macguffin quiz already. Anyway, only an hour and a quarter left to submit before closing time. "Closing Time" is a great song by Leonard Cohen.
Here's the song (LINK) ->
The original video of that song when he was much younger is better, and you could probably see it on YouTube.
I like this one..
Closing Time- Semisonic
Got it here, but it's a totally different song - I prefer Leonard Cohen's version, but then Leonard Cohen was always one of my favourites since I first saw him live in the mid-60s.
Okay, the quiz is now closed.
Everyone's in the winning circle this time, so the quiz was easier than I expected it was. Tied for first place with a perfect score of 20 out of 20 are (in order of answer submission) Snuffy, Split Personality, charger 383, Veronica, and Dig. Coming in second was Perrie with 19, while in third place was Jasper 2529 with 18, and earning Honourable Mention was Kathleen who scored 15 1/2. Don't think I've ever seen a 5-person tie for perfect score before.
For those of you who play chess, I was amazed to find a picture of both kings being in check at the same time (i.e. double check) as a clue for the movie "Check and Double Check" because that's an impossible situation in the game.
My thanks to all who participated. Still not sure about what to do next. Was thinking about Romance Movies - there are lots of well-known ones, but we'll see how it goes.
For those who were too distracted by political bullshit, here are the answers:
1. Abraham Lincoln - biblical Abraham & a Lincoln automobile
2. Beat the Devil - a beet vegetable & the devil
3. The Painted Hills - colourful hills & a Collie dog
4. Attack of the Giant Leeches - a swamp & big leeches
5. A Bucket of Blood - a bucket & a cat sculpture
6. Check and Double Check - a check mark & a chessboard showing both kings in check, i.e. a double check (an impossible situation)
7. The Snows of Kilimanjaro - snowflakes & a mountain
8. The Screaming Skull - a skull and a garden
9. The Jackie Robinson Story - “FIRST” & a baseball player
10. A Farewell to Arms - image of waving "goodbye" & armaments
11. The Wasp Woman - a wasp & cosmetics
12. The Chase - person being chased & a chauffeur (Dementia 13 also acceptable)
13. Quicksand - an automobile mechanic & a 20 dollar bill
14. My Dear Secretary - a deer & a secretary
15. Captain Kidd - a sea captain's hat & a kid (baby goat)
16. Rock Rock Rock! - a strapless evening gown & a prom scene
17. Bird of Paradise - an actual bird of paradise & a volcano on a tropical island
18. Royal Wedding - a crown & a wedding scene
19. The Devil Bat - a devil & a baseball bat
20. Africa Screams - map of Africa & a woman screaming
Lol...That was great!
Congrats to everybody who played... Thanks Buzz
Congrats to you with that perfect score!
Where were you?
You're very welcome.
As easy as it turned out to be, I could only come up with # 7
Congratulations to everyone who participated, and a big thank you to Buzz for preparing these quizzes for us!
Thanks for your specially appreciated support.
