ROAD MOVIES qUIZ
ROAD MOVIES QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be one of the movies on The 100 Best Road Movies Ever!!! IMDb list linked below. Open and use the list to help you with finding the correct match to the clues and making sure of title accuracy. The release year of the movie is not necessary.

I have seen most of the 20 movies the clues identify myself but to make this quiz a little easier than the last one most of them will be idenifiable by the clue images, but some will still require you to either have watched the movies or been familiar with them because the clues will represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to know the story. Quite a few of the 20 quiz movies should be well known movies, and some have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked movie list to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the 100 movies on the IMDb list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In the previous few quizes I did accept alternatives. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.

Trying a slightly easier quiz this time - hope for more participants. Let's see how this one works out. This one will be closed Sunday evening at 9:30 p.m. New York City Time. So have a go at it and remember as always....

I think I might need the entire week for this one!
"There is a time for every matter under heaven" (Ecclesiastes)
working on this
“A winner never stops trying.” (Tom Landry)
Here we go!
Of all of us, you should be the expert on Road Movies.
Indeedy!
Working on it. 11 so far.
Keep up the good work.
Looks like this needs a little bummmmmmp!
Thank you.

Received and scored. Thank you.
Answers up... There were some good ones on there.. (and some easy ones) [no movie names here please, even if you think they are not correct answers charger]
They aren't even on the list.... and since the rules clearly say the correct answers are on the IMDB list used why ding that?
And if we have gotten to the point where we can't discuss such then it will be my last participation...
Sorry Buzz, but the reins are too tight to be enjoyable anymore...
Your answers are received and scored, thank you.
Posting ANY movie name is a misleading hint notwithstanding that it is not on the list, and I have had to delete them previously myself. charger was right to do so while I was busy elsewhere. Sorry
With 16 out of 20 of the articles/seeds on the Front (Home) Page being about political matters an artcle like this one doesnt't have a chance to still be seen notwithstanding 9 likes and 17 comments. Too bad, and most likely a good reason why it has only drawn 2 participants over the three days since it's been posted. I guess the next quiz I do should be movies about POLITICS - hey, that should draw more responses, if not a lot new players, than even war movies did.
We just gotta keep bumping it (bimping it? still loving that) back to the front page. Seems a shame that most people would rather argue their partisan talking points over and over instead of taking a moment to just have some fun.
On a side note, I'm still working on this one... Have 16 figured out but the last four are not not coming to me yet. I prefer to be run over with clues rather than what seems to be going on here, where I'm just road kill.... LOL
Thanks for your consistent help, Snuffy.
I'm stuck with 3 more to go. My brain refuses to get in gear this week.
Bump!
I have 5 more. Those are the ones that take forever.
I have two empty yet and 1 additional questionable. BUMP
I know what you ,mean. I have 4 empty and a couple that are WAG's. I'm feeling more like road kill on this one than hitting the checkered flag...
It could be easier if it had automatic transmission.
You still have a couple of days.
Your answers are now received and scored.
Very appropriate comment for this quiz.
Funny!
Sent in earlier than usual. We had an ice storm, and I did not leave the house today
Received and scored, thank you.
Bumping back to the front page
Thank you.
Bimp
Thank you. Maybe in this case of Road Movies we should use the verb "collide" instead.
NOTICE TO INTENDED PARTICIPANTS: So far there have been only 6 participants. All the questions have been answered by someone or other so all are possible. As well, I have already accepted 2 alternative answers. There is only one day left to submit your answers. I will be closing the quiz in about 24 hours from now, i.e. at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, New York City time.
Submitted.
Received and scored, thank you. It's now a little more than an hour to closing time.
Time's up - the quiz is now closed. Eight members participated and nobody got a score less than 15, which when I went to school was 75%, and 75% to 100% was considered honours. No questions were left unanswered indicating that all the questions were possible to be answered correctly. First Prize goes to Nowhere Man who answered a perfect 20 out of 20. Tied for second place with 19 each are Split Personality and Charger 383, while coming in third was Jasper2529 who scored 18, and Honourable Mention goes to Kathleen who got 17 right. I'm not sure what to do next, but it shouldn't take long. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated. Here are the answers for those who are afraid to have a little fun.
1. Thelma & Louise - 2 women in a convertible car - car going off a cliff
2. Little Miss Sunshine - a yellow VW bus & a little girl on stage

5. Bound for Glory - man hopping a freight train & Woody Guthrie's guitar

20. The Darjeeling Limited - the actual Darjeeling train & 3 men representing brothers
Congratulations to all ... and thanks again for giving us another quiz, Buzz!
Thanks Jasper. The poll I posted drew only 5 votes, so unfortunately very few participants really care that much about them. But I won't be discouraged, I've already come up with the theme of the next quiz - Weird, Bizarre and Unusual Films.
As I said on the poll comments, take note that this article is still open for comments two days after I closed the quiz. There has been and still is lots of opportunity for discussion between interested participants and anyone else about any movies and actors and feelings about this quiz or any of them without fear of deletions for talking about them because the quiz is closed. And there is discussion about the poll issue on the comment wall under the poll itself if any participant is interested, although I'm disapponted that so few have taken advantage of it. It seems that any such interest has been "trumped".
