MOVIE QUIZ - BRENDAN FRASER & MICHELLE YEOH

th?id=OIF-C.UpRZdB3du8IIiM%2bjaZRh1Q&pid=ImgDet&rs=1

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.  POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR  ANSWERS.  IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.

This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be a movie on one of the 2 lists that are linked following this paragraph, i.e. in which Brendan Fraser or Michelle Yeoh acted.  I have seen only a few of each of their movies, so many of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title. However, others will still require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to know the story or what the film is about, and in fact a few can be pretty tricky.  A few have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

Brendan Fraser List LInk -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls084759994/

Michelle Yeoh List LInk -> https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/michelle-yeoh/

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name.  For example, and this will be important for this quiz, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title.  So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie.  As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies in which Brendan Fraser or Michelle Yeoh acted AND is on one of the two lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer.  In some previous quizzes I did accept alternatives.  Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

As I've been attempting to be topical with my quizzes, this one is as topical as I can get today.  Since I've seen only a few of each of their movies some of the questions can be answered just from saying what the clues are.  However some are going to take a little more thought and maybe even a bit of research.  So go to it, movie aficionados, and have a little fun.  But remember.....

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.  POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Again you will have 5 full days including the whole weekend to submit your answers. This quiz will be closed Sunday evening March 19th at about 10:00 p.m. New York time (which will be Daylight Saving Time).

Hopefully it is - what good would a quiz be if it were not?

This quiz could be more of a challenge because the actors and the movies themselves are not as well known or popular as the ones I've used previously.  Hopefully the participants are not afraid of a challenge.

Looking forward to it Dig.  It's quite disappointing to see that only 3 have given it a shot.  Seems that most of whom I called "movie aficionados" don't like challenges.  I wonder if I should revert to True-False, fill in the blanks and multiple choice to make the quiz an easy ride.

Personally, I like your current format. My problem is time at the moment. I've been busy as all get out with drywall touchups and room painting lately; as well as faucet, light switch, and electrical outlet replacement. I caught the winter home improvement bug this year. It's like spring cleaning on steroids, lol.

Oh, and this week I decided to make a new bluebird house and had to get it built and installed on a post outside as soon as possible. It's already nesting time for them.

That was the tricky part, even though the machine, once set up, generates the required profile automatically, it still needs the operator to shut down the feed or the part is scrapped.  Also I needed something to write to bump this up other than saying bump.

This quiz is now closed.  Only six participated, and all appear on the Winner's Circle.  Dig takes top honours with a perfect score of 20, and Veronica comes in second with a score of 19.  Three members tied for third place with scores of 18 - Split Personality, Snuffy and bccrane, and Honourable Mention goes to charger 383 with a score of 17 1/2.  I thought this would have been a more difficult quiz because the actors are not the best known, and neither are their movies, but it was a good challenge that most on my participation list were either afraid to try or were just too busy with no time for a little fun.  Don't know what the next quiz will be as yet, so it will be a little while for the next one.  Congratulations and thanks to those who participated.

Here are the answers for those who prefer to not have the fun of playing:.

  1.  With Honors - a thesis & a homeless man
  2.  The Twilight of the Golds - "Twilight Time" album & gold
  3.  Sunshine - a dying sun & Icarus (name of the space ship)
  4.  Gods and Monsters - Roman gods & Frankenstein's monster
  5.  Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - a legendary sword & woman diving (in the movie, off a bridge into mist)
  6.  Dudley Do-Right - Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer & riding a horse backward as in the movie poster
  7.  The Poison Rose - a bottle of poison & a rose
  8.  HairBrained (a/k/a Hair Brained) - hair & a brain
  9.  Crazy Rich Asians - a man looking crazy with lots of money & Singapore
  10. Journey to the End of the Night - Sao Paolo, Brazil & red light district
  11. Gunpowder Milkshake - gunpowder from a bullet & a milkshake
  12. School Ties - men's ties & Star of David
  13. Stand Off (a/k/a Whole Lotta Sole)- fish market & curio store

The second clue for number 19 was Shaolin Temple, which according to the story, is where the two protagonists met as students in the movie The Tai Chi Master.

Hey, who is that fat bowlegged guy holding his Greek fisherman's cap standing in front of the Shaolin Temple?

800

Doesn't he look familiar to you?
