HARRISON FORD & SCARLETT JOHANSSON MOVIE QUIZ
HARRISON FORD & SCARLETT JOHANSSON MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be a movie on one of the 2 lists that are linked following this paragraph, i.e. in which Harrison Ford or Scarlett Johansson acted. I have seen 11 of the movies on the quiz, so although some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, others will still require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to know the story or what the film is about, and in fact a few can be pretty tricky. A few have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

Scarlett Johansson List LInk -> https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/guide/all-scarlett-johansson-movies-ranked/
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies in which Harrison Ford or Scarlett Johansson acted AND is on one of the two lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In some previous quizzes I did accept alternatives. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

I'm ba-a-a-a-k with a new movie quiz, this time the movies of Harrison Ford and Scarlett Johansson. Having just posted an article about Harrison Ford being honoured at the Cannes Film Festival I thought it would be a good time to use his movies, but there are not enough for a quiz so I'm adding the movies in which Scarlett Johansson acted. As well, I am extending the duration of the quiz from 5 days to a whole week to give more time for submitting answers. This quiz will be closed on Sunday evening May 28th at around 10 p.m. New York City time. Please give this one a try, but as always, please remember...
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Starting to think about the clues
Still thinking
Okay, but leave a little time for work.
No rush - you've got a whole week.
Thanks Buzz, will start looking at clues soon
Lots of time.
Ah, Scarlett ... the lady could also sing:
PLEASE read the multicoloured warning that I post at the beginning of the quiz and on the first comment and comply with its request. You may not have realized it, but you posted the name of a movie.
Well this doesn't bode well for me, even with that, I still have no clue.... well, not yet.
Hope for the best.
Great choices for a movie quiz, Buzz! Thanks!
I think it will be an easy quiz.
Not as easy as I thought it might be, but I'm almost finished!
Lots of time - only two have participated so far.
Still have a couple to work out but this is a good time for a bump
It's always a good time for a bump.
Still working on it, one of them has me stalled
You're stalled? Okay, then wait a little while for the pipes to clear, and then try the starter again.
Still stuck, I may not be able to figure that one out
Three have participated so far, and among them no question has not been answered correctly. In other words the clues have proven to be effective. Every question is answerable.
I'm a little lost, the answer to #21 is ???? hehe
That is the other one I can't figure out
That's my bonus question, but is answerable only by those who can see the invisible clues.
You're not alone, I can't figure that one out either.
Submitted along with a bump
An excellent combination.
The quiz was posted 3 days ago and so far only two have participated - and maybe this comment will bring it back to the Front (Home) Page for a little while.
It's not on my front page right now, so maybe this bump will help!
I'll be sending you my answers either today or tomorrow!
Looking forward to receiving them.
A bump a day keeps the front page awake......
You did it!
Yep, he did, and so did charger 383, and so did you and so did I.
It's awake now. But it needs to stay awake.
Buzz, you kinda scared me with the PN, I thought I missed the deadline. I still have till the 28th and three are still stumping me and one I have I'm not that sure about.
Didn't you tell me the only day you had to work on a quiz was on Monday because otherwise you're too busy?
No, the problem was that the only day I had to work on it, that time, was on a Saturday and I wouldn't be back at a computer until the next Monday after the deadline and that Saturday got all messed up because customers kept showing up and halting my work babysitting a machine which was the time I needed to complete the quiz.
This time I've been able to fit in a little time here and there to figure some of these out while between jobs and, like now, checking emails.
Sorry, then I misunderstood and thought that you only had time on Mondays, which is one of the reasons I've extended the time for the quizzes so that Mondays would be available for you. I certainly didn't mean to scare you.
Bumping back to the front page
Every bump is a boon.
Went with what I got and Sent them in.
Received and scored, thanks.
let's get the answers in
The article has only 4 votes up, which is why it keeps falling off the page.
Need answers and up votes
Seven have participated so far - was hoping for more.
Sent in, let me know if you didn't receive it and I will try again. Something didn't seem right when I submitted it.
I got your answers and replied with your score. Thank you.
Just a Friday bump.
A bump a day keeps the quiz in play.
And a Saturday morning bump
This one is for Saturday afternoon.
And the same goes for the afternoon.
What would Saturday morning be without a nice bump or two?
Or three!
But who's counting?
NOTICE: This quiz will close in about 12 hours from now, i.e. Sunday evening about 10 p.m. New York City time. There have been 7 participants, and because of the Memorial Day weekend I doubt that there will be any more.
You can expect one more this afternoon! Looks like I'm the caboose on this movie quiz train.
So far you are.
Submitted with a bump!
Received and scored with a thanks.
Nine have participated on this quiz, which is pretty good, although I hope each time for a double digit participation. Anyway, if any of those who look but don't have the nerve to jump in want to give this a try, there are still 90 minutes left until I close this quiz and announce the winners.
This quiz is now closed. Nine members participated and all are indicated to be in the winner’s circle. Split Personality and Snuffy each achieved perfect scores of 20 while 5 members were tied for second place with 19 each - Veronica, Kathleen, bccrane, Dig and Jasper2529. Charger 383 stood third with 18 and Honourable Mention goes to Perrie who scored 17. Thanks to all for participating and congratulations to all for doing so well. I’m not sure what theme to use next, actors and/or actresses or a new genre. However, I will continue to keep the quizzes open for a whole week.
For the benefit of those who are less interested in a fun challenge than they are in posting political commentary, here are the answers.
Thanks Buzz, another fun quiz is in the books. Looking forward to the next one.
Congrats to everybody who played. Well done all.
You're welcome. I enjoy creating them.
Congratulations to all. Looking forward to your next quiz, Buzz!
Thinking of a male-female combo again. Already have the male, trying to decide about the female.
Oh my, I started looking already to get a jump start on your next quiz and found this quickly...
Betty White > 19
Meryl Streep > 70
Betty Davis > 50
Audrey Hepburn > 27
Marilyn Monroe > 27
Barbara Stanwyck > 30
Barbra Streisand > 16
Jenna Ortega > 20
Jennifer Grey > 19
Jennifer Lawrence > 37
Jennifer Lopez > 41
Those numbers are the number of movies that the actress was in. This could get interesting... hehe
I have already done quizzes with each of Meryl Streep and Audrey Hepburn, and I now have my pair, not one on your list. There are a number of things I try to put together in order to create a quiz. First of all, I need a pool of at least around 80 movies so I can either use one actor or actress who has that many, or I can combine and normally I try to keep each with half of the questions but I could do a different combo such as 30 + 50. However. if I've not seen enough of their movies then most of the questions will just identify words for the titles and too many of those make the quiz too easy. As well, for a genre quiz I look for at least 80 and usually there are lists of 100 to pick from. I try to keep the actor / actress ones connected in some way, e.g. contemporaries, or married such as I did with Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. I think the lists are important and I have to restrict the participant's choices to those lists or else it would be really hard for me to do the checking, and the lists are also important for the participant because they often provide info that would be a clue to the answer, besides providing the correct title. The problem is that there isn't always a decent list for the subject so for a subject I really would like to use I can't put it together. I once did a quiz with Stephen Spielberg directed movies.
I'm looking forward to it already.. to paraphrase a song from a fun movie...
Keep it hard..
Keep it tough...
Keep it rough...
Your use of either Rotten Tomatoes or IMDb lists are the best sources and have been very helpful to me.
Yes, they are the best lists and I prefer to use them. When they indicate that they rank all the movies they usually (but not always) list every movie made by the particular actor or actress, and both of them do provide at least a minimal blurb about the movie. I have rarely found other sources' lists very helpful for quiz purposes.
I'm not sure I'll go THAT far because there will be VERY few participants if I do.
These quizzes are good exercises for the brain and fun
They sure are, charger. I enjoy them as much as Sudoku and NY Times crosswords!
Although I used to enjoy Scrabble a lot, I no longer have anyone to play with. My wife's English is too limited, but in a year or so her daughter will return from Germany and she is fluent enough in English to compete with me. These days all I can do is computer solitaire.
When I was a kid, my parents and I used to play a lot of Scrabble, but my preferred game has always been backgammon. When I was younger, I belonged to clubs that held tournaments, but those days are long gone. As you with solitaire, I play online backgammon now. It's not as much fun, but it's OK.
Back in Canada I enjoyed playing Backgammon.
I wonder if that could be a reason so few play - most prefer political partisanship to be their entertainment.
I think there are several reasons, and both you and charger are correct, IMO. Another reason could be that there are no longer many active members. Currently (10AM EDT) there are only 13 online. From what I've noticed, a busy day might be around 20 people. On most weekends, there are 10 or less. I'm usually not here in the evenings or at night, so I don't know about those times.
So, if you have 7 participants, that's really not too bad!
Yes, and some of those who remain active are IMO the cause of our only rarely gaining new active members.
Actually there were 9 participants on this quiz. I send notifications to 18, and am considering deleting those who neither participate nor help out by voting the quiz up, or at least vote on comments made.
