BEN AFFLECK & CHARLIZE THERON MOVIE QUIZ
BEN AFFLECK & CHARLIZE THERON MOVIE QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
This time, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be a movie on one of the 2 lists that are linked following this paragraph, i.e. in which Ben Affleck or Charlize Theron acted. I have seen 16 of the movies on the quiz, so although some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, more may require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to know the story or what the film is about, and in fact a few can be pretty tricky. A few have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. So just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies in which Ben Affleck or Charlize Theron acted AND is on one of the two lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In some previous quizzes I did accept alternatives. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Only for NT members who like to have a little challenge and a little fun, here is a new movie quiz - the movies of Ben Affleck & Charlize Theron. I thought about using Jennifer Lopez but I've seen only one of her movies so I decided otherwise. At least Ben Affleck has been fairly popular and many of his movies are well known, so this quiz should be a good one to do. Please give this one a try, but remember always....
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
The quiz will be closed in about one week, i.e. Wednesday June 7th at about 10 p.m. New York City Time.
Starting to think about the clues
Good. Some will take a lot of thinking, some won't need much at all.
Stuck on a few but still thinking
Don't be concerned that this quiz is taking a little longer to answer. It's been up for 4 days and only one member has submitted answers so far.
Looks like a fun quiz..
I'm happy that you enjoy them.
Thanks for another fun quiz, Buzz! I've numbered my weekly quiz paper and will start on this new quiz today.
Looking forward to your answers.
Well got the easy ones out of the way, still have a handful to figure out. But I think it's time for a morning bump
Bump!
Thanks to our R.A.
Any time of day is always welcome.
Got a few so far, and will try to get them done by Wednesday. I'm getting kind of swamped with work and my brother needs help setting up an irrigation system for the farm, the long range forecast doesn't show any rain here until the 20th of June and we have already had the driest May on record.
Oh yeah, and bump.
Do the important things first, then relax a bit with the quiz.
Saturday morning bump to keep it on the front page...
Thanks for that.
Holy smoke!!! This is the FIRST time one of my quizzes was up for three days and nobody submitted answers yet. I guess there's a little more challenge to this one. Please don't think that I'm pushing, because there's still lots of time.
I only have half of them figured out so far.
Still a few days to get the other half.
Yeah, little more of a challenge on this one but that's good. I've got six to go...
As long as it's still fun. Someone just told me that it's a welcome distraction from the ongoing B.S. on NT and the world.
Oh yes, it's still a lot of fun. I'm enjoying it even if I haven't gotten every answer yet. Give me time, I'll drink from cheap scotch and maybe come up with another answer or two... LOL
"cheap scotch"? Okay, whatever it takes. LOL
Help!!! Already pushed off the Front (Home) Page. Maybe this will bring it back for an hour or two. Needs more votes up.
Sunday morning bump!!!!
Thanks for that.
Another bump to get it back on the front page
Good bump.
I've had a slow start on this quiz, but I'll pick up the pace with a Sunday morning bump!
Sunday's a good day for working on the quiz.
Bimp!
Thank you.
Just posted my answers.
Just received and scored, thanks.
Submitted
Received and scored, thank you.
submitted with low expectations, lol.
Welcome to the line.. my low expectations where in before yours...
Or to paraphrase an old commercial...
"My scores lower than your score
My scores lower than yours
My scores lower cuz I drink bad scotch
My scores lower than yours"
You got that right. LOL
LOL. You didn't get the lowest score.
Woo Hoo!!!!!! I'm number last!!!!!!!!!
ahhh, nothing like the cellar..
Oh, and a bump back to the front page
Especially if it's a wine cellar. Thanks for the bump.
Guesses and answers sent in. I will go with what I have because tomorrow will be a busy day. It was fun and made me think
Received and scored, thanks.
Lets get your answers in
Only 5 members have submitted answers, and now there are less than 25 hours left to submit answers. Only one question has not been answered by anyone, but IMO the clues are simply not that difficult. If anyone had seen the movie they would not have trouble with it and I will not change it for a different movie.
Who do you have to s***w to stay on the Front (Home) Page?
BUZZ NOTE: There are now only 24 1/2 hours to the closing of this quiz. It will close and the winners announced at around 10 p.m. Wednesday New York City time.
Am cutting it close, five still to go. I may just have to submit what I've got.
And bump.
As you know, one of the reasons I extended the time from 5 days to a week was to give you a good chance to do the quiz. I know this one is tougher than the ones I've already posted, but I didn't think that a quiz that was too easy would be enjoyable without at least some challenge. The scores are not as high as on previous quizzes so you could still qualify for the winners' list even without answering all of the questions. I suggest also that even if you can't answer a question, don't leave it blank - look at the lists and guess. I don't subtract score for wrong answers.
Thanks for the bump - hope it brought the quiz back to the Front (Home) Page.
go with what you have. still be fun to see if they are right.
Fun for all.
Waiting for you answers and guesses
Did you mean that as a reply to bccrane?
just a general request to all.
About 12 hours left.
Submitted with some obvious guesses.
Received and scored, thanks.
This quiz is now closed. I said it would be more challenging, and I guess it was. However, I must first declare that I was wrong to use an image of Snoop Dog wearing sunglasses as the first clue for number 14. I had no idea who he was, I just used an internet search for big sunglasses to come up with that clue, and I thought it would be a good one because he was wearing big sunglasses and was black as well as Will Smith who played Hancock. However, that led not only to confusion but regret since Snoop Dog's reputation, especially concerning antisemitism, is not acceptable. Nobody got that question right, the only one that was not answered by someone or other. Had I been told of this problem early, I could have changed the clue and given all who participated a second chance, but I was not made aware of it until yesterday, and that was too late. So in the circumstance I am allowing a point for number 14 to all who participated, increasing their score accordingly.
Only 6 members participated but all are in the Winner's Circle. The scores include the extra point although nobody got a perfect score. In First Place Veronica and Kathleen are tied with 19, while taking second place is Split Personality who scored 17, and Third Place is again a tie with Snuffy and charger 383 sharing a score of 16 each. Honourable Mention goes to bccrane who got a score of 15. Hey, when I went to school 75% was honours grade.
I'm not yet sure what the next quiz will be although I've been thinking about the movies of Henry Fonda, but I'll be more careful about the clues from now on.

Buzz
Congrats Veronica and Kathleen, well done both of you. And good job to all of us.
And thanks Buzz. Yeah, it was a tougher quiz but I really liked it. Thanks.
Yes, I know it was tougher, and I would like to know how all participants feel about that.
I liked it a lot. Just so you know how I felt about it.... hehe
Blasphemy!
It's a Ford !!! 5 window or classic coupe.
Whatever. LOL The clue image was on the Microsoft Bing images page for a 1934 Chevy 5 window coupe so it didn't belong there and I didn't pay attention to the caption. But they do look somewhat alike, so I don't think anyone who missed answer number 10 would have been misled.
Actual 1934 Ford 5 window couple, which I used as a clue.
Actual screen shot of the vehicle in the movie:

The only important clue was the Tata 8x8 military vehicle used as the monster truck.
It is among the vehicles listed that Theron has actually driven in a movie or on a set.
Yeah, I searched the web for images of the make of monster truck that was in the movie, even though it had a different grill, but your comment that Theron had driven one was a really interesting fact.
I'll try and participate in the next one Buzz.
The more the merrier.
What kind of confused me was the last one, That Thing You Do, I couldn't find any reference to Theron, was she even in it?
And another thing, I would've thought that "Hancock" should've been in your quiz, LOL.
Charlize Theron was "Tina" in That Thing You Do! Hancock WAS number 14 in the quiz.
Yeah, #14. That one really got me confused because the only link between Snoop Dogg and either of the two actors in the quiz was the Adams Family and Adams Family 2 where Snoop was the voice of Cousin It. Like everybody else, I focused on his face and completely missed the big sun glasses.. Maybe because almost every picture of him you see him wearing sun glasses to hide those red eyes... LOL
It was a tougher quiz but I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next one.
As I said, I had no idea who he was, and didn't really understand your comment about Snoop Dogg when you submitted your answers. Maybe I should have asked you what you meant back then and I could have changed the clue.
No problems on my side. I enjoyed it. Not your fault I misread the clue... But please no more pics of Snoop Dogg unless the word "marijuana" is in the name of the movie.. as ol' Snoop does like his ganja....
I promise no more Snoop Dogg images or references. Only recently was I advised of his rampant antisemitism, and I do not appreciate anti-Semites.
Yeah, definitely not poster-child material.
I couldn't talk about it until the quiz was closed, but when I went through the list which was meant to be all of Ben Affleck's movies I noticed that The Sum of All Fears, a 2002 movie, was not listed. Affleck played the major role of Jack Ryan in that movie, and it was a pretty good movie, and in fact I had just watched it (again) the day before. So I tried to contact Rotten Tomatoes to advise them but they have a form to fill out requiring an email address and phone number which I filled in but they were both unacceptable to their form, and the only way I could contact them was through their press service to tell them of that omission. Of course I've heard nothing back, and I don't expect that since the article states viewers' votes that they will add that movie because it's too late. After all, the omission is an embarrassment to them.
Their dealing with it is a lot different from a number of years ago when I wrote to the owner of a Classic Movie web site that they had made an error. In a description of The Life of Emile Zola the article about the movie they said the eulogy at Zola's funeral was given by Paul Cezanne, Zola's long time friend, but I knew that Anatole France had given the eulogy and checked the real Zola's biography which confirmed it. Actually, in the movie Paul Cezanne and Anatole France looked similar. I emailed the Classic Movie site's owner about the error and got back a personal thank you email from him.
I'm toying with the idea of making the next quiz about top rated animated movies. Any comments about that?
That could be cool but there are a lot of animated movies made overseas that a lot of people don't watch. I for one don't care all that much for a lot of Japanese anime because I don't care for the bright flashing that occurs in so many of their movies. And here in the US a lot of overseas anime is not really promoted to the general public so there is a lot that we just don't even know exists. Could be a very low scoring quiz.
There are lists of 100 that consist of a lot of movies that have many that have been popular. I wouldn't try to pick ones that are too esoteric. Problem is that no list I can use is up to date.
I was AWOL on this one, but I plan on participating next time. Congrats to all!
If the next theme is animated movies, I'm afraid it will be out of my league. I think the last animated movie I saw was Toy Story when my kids were little!
Surely there are animated movies you remember from when you were a little kid. I have only rarely watched animated movies for almost as long as I can remember, but recently I watch one in which not a word was spoken, and I thought it was fantastic. Unfortunately it's too recent to have been on any of the lists I could use.
I certainly do remember animated movies from when I was a kid! I especially remember the ones from my children's childhoods, because we watched them more times than I can remember with our kids!
I look forward to the next quiz and will give it my best try!
Still not sure what I will do - Henry Fonda, Animated, or something else.
I think I'm going to choose "something else". I'm starting to work on a quiz about the movies of Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock. Although I've not seen many of the movies acted in by Sandra Bullock, I have seen all the movies on the quiz being prepared acted in by Brad Pitt.
