Trailer: Godzilla Minus One
A new trailer for writer/director/VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus One has just been released at a press conference in Japan. It builds on the initial teaser, giving us more of a glimpse of the film’s post-war setting, as Japan reckons with the devastation left in the wake of surrender—but equally giving us a much larger, more agonizing lens on the true horrors about to be unleashed as Godzilla makes landfall in the nation for the first time.

I'm a fan of almost all the Kaiju monster movies.
this takes me back almost 60 years when my friend glen and I would watch monster, horror, and war movies on TV friday nights in the basement, drink pop, and eat junk food.
Growing up I would get home from school just in time for the local channel to air old movies. It could be Godzilla, the 3 Stooges Meet Wild Bill Hickok or The Lone Ranger.
I especially like to watch old japanese monster movies and sci-fi, since it has the best cheesy special effects.
I have one of those cheep 50 Sci-Fi movie dvd sets with a lot of these old cheesy kaiju movies. The monsters are just guys in a rubber suit stomping on miniatures. Who would have thought a space turtle farting out flames would be so stupidly fun?
I loved to watch Ultraman as a kid, that was back when I was in elementary school.
Have you seen Pacific Rim? That's a good movie.
Yes. I have it in my BluRay collection. I like the second one as well, but not quite as much.
I saw that one. I 'm not much on monster movies, but that one was good
I never really watched the second one. I didn't care for what I did see.
Apple + is also releasing a new streaming series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters staring Kurt & Wyatt Russell. No trailer yet, but follow the IMDB link for images and an overview.
I watched the Godzilla movie from a few years ago, Godzilla vs King Kong. It was entertaining in a ridiculous way until the end when they began slamming each other into high rise buildings that presumably had a lot of people in them. They should have had them fight in a place that didnt suggest thousands of deaths.
I think you may be missing the point...
anything is possible
Yes, that's the US "MonsterVerse" movies. They start with Godzilla (2014), Kong Skull Island (2017), Godzilla, King of Monsters (2019) and then the one you watched Godzilla vs Kong. This ties in with the Apple + new streaming show I was talking about @2.0 above. That will tie into an upcoming movie Godzilla x Kong where the two monsters team up to take down something worse. These are just big dumb action movies.
This Godzilla Minus One is Japanese that goes all the way back to the origin and treats the monster more like an unstoppable force of nature. Much like the original.
Does it seem fair to anyone that the US dropped the nuke on Japan but they are the ones that have to deal with the mutant T Rex?
Well Godzilla does turn into an antihero by 1965 when Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster shows up.
Absolutely no surprise to see this being released now that Japan is trying its best to mutate a new monster in the Pacific.
The teaser for the new Apple + streaming show Monarch Legacy of Monsters dropped today.
The first episode drops on 11/17/23.
