MOVIE QUIZ - HITCHCOCK & SCORSESE FILMS
MOVIE QUIZ - HITCHCOCK & SCORSESE FILMS
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE, READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.
It's time for a return to the usual format, but this time a change of pace. Instead of combining the movies of two actors, this is a quiz that combines two movie directors. So besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED that the movie MUST be a movie on one of the 2 IMDb lists that are linked following this paragraph, i.e. in which Alfred Hitchcock or Martin Scorsese directed. I have seen only 6 of the movies on this quiz that I can remember, so. as always some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, but some may require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or will require you to do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to have seen the movie or know the story or what the film is about. A few have been included in previous quizzes, but these are almost all new image clues, and as usual I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
The Alfred Hitchcock IMDb List is The Films of Alfred Hitchcock: Ranked - Link -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls071809232/?sort=user_rating,asc&st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1
The Martin Scorsese IMDb List is Martin Scorsese film list - LInk -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls062308374/
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but even if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title. Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies in which Alfred Hitchcock or Martin Scorsese directed, AND is on one of the two lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In some previous quizzes I did accept alternatives. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.
A situation came up on a previous quiz where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant opened although it was the same link, so if that happens, please tell me.
SPECIAL HINT FOR THOSE WHO BOTHER TO READ WHAT'S ABOVE
Although some of the movies can be identified by just one of the clues, some of the clues can apply to the wrong movie, so it is IMPORTANT to take BOTH clues into consideration.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Back to standard movie quiz form, the only difference is that it is a combination of the movies of two directors instead of two actors - Alfred Hitchcock and Martin Scorsese. Both directed popular movies and the quiz is not a "killer" so please give it a try, but remember always....
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
The quiz will be open for a week, and will be closed and the winners announced at around 10 p.m. New York time on Friday September 29th, which happens to also be Mid-Autumn Festival here, and I love the moon cookies that are traditional fare at that time.
This will take some thinking
More than the last one, for sure.
I'll be working on this one!
In between your R.A. duties?
It just hit me. Since 1966, Martin Scorsese has almost directed a movie per year.
Almost?
I have submitted my answers. One of your clues was incomprehensible.
I have my fingers crossed.
Received and scored. Thank you. Funny thing - you got that one right, therefore it wasn't so incomprehensible, so you can uncross your fingers.
Woo hoo, new quiz. Thanks Buzz.
This one will require some thought as I've not seen a lot of Hitchcock movies.
And I've seen only 6 of the movies on the quiz so it may be easier than you think. However, if a quiz isn't at least a little challenging, it can be boring.
Submitted with fingers crossed.
This was a tough one, for me at least.
Received and scored, with thanks. You worry too much.
Thanks very much for another quiz!
Thank you - glad you enjoy them.
Looks like we need a bump!
We ALWAYS need a bump.
Sunday morning bump - still working on this between visits with a friend
Thanks. No rush - lots of time.
submitted
Received and scored. Thank you.
Still working
You're good with that.
Done working and sent them in
Received with thanks and scored.
Monday morning bump
And it's a good one.
I've been MIA/AWOL for 2 days ... still working on this one! Bumpity bump!
If you think this one's a little harder, the next one will be more challenging, but of course do this one first.
The more difficult the challenge, the harder my brain has to work!
It's good exercise.
Submitted
Received and scored. Thank you.
So far, 5 have participated, and there's still lots of time to send me the answers.
Tuesday morning bump to stay on the front page
A few more days of bumps will be required.
Wednesday morning bump - get back on the front page...
A second Wednesday bump to get back on the front page... geeze
Frustrating, isn't it. I already have the next quiz mostly prepared.
Thank you, we're ba-a-a-a-ak.
HELP!!!! We're wiped off the Front (Home) Page. Votes up and bumps needed immediately. Mine don't register, and unlike some others I NEVER vote up my own seeds/articles or comments.
Buzz's movie school is still in session, so take the quiz
This is pretty sad, my friend. A little more than a day to go and only 6 have participated. Maybe they're just getting tired of the quizzes. I already have the next one prepared and ready to go.
It's Thursday. I'm still "in" and working on the clues. I'll be submitting tomorrow morning.
Looking forward to receiving them.
And thanks, charger. It took just your short comment to place this quiz back to the top where it belongs.
I believe I just finished with the best possible answers I could muster and will PN them over when I get a chance.
Waiting patiently.
A Thursday afternoon bump to stay on the Front Page
I'm always grateful.
Just submitted, almost thought I would have to make a last minute submission. With as little time I had there is no excuse on not doing this quiz, so get'er done.
Received and scored. I appreciate your loyal perseverance.
Done!
Answers received and scored. Thank you.
NOTICE TO RELUCTANT PARTICIPANTS
You have only tomorrow to get your answers in, as this quiz will be closed at around 10 p.m. New York time tomorrow (Friday). Eight members have played so far, and they are all regular participants. Did the ones who were newbies last time lose their nerve when faced with a little more of a challenge? As I boringly say now and then, as the Delicatessen waitress said when you're faced with something you've never eaten before, like chopped liver appetiser or a hot beef tongue sandwich, or (and for sure this'll getchya) kishka: "Try it, you'll like it.." (I love them all.)
Friday Morning Bump -- Last day for the best little quiz in Texas (and elsewhere)!
Yep, time's almost up.
Last chance to send me your answers. This quiz will close in 12 hours from now.
Friday afternoon bump!
A bump in need is a bump indeed.
Submitted ... with a couple of guesses.
Received and scored, thanks.
Time's up and this quiz is now closed. Nine members participated and all are named here for achieving a spot on the winners' circle. Tied for first place with perfect 20 scores are Dig, Split Personality, Kathleen, and Perrie. Second place goes to Vic Eldred, Snuffy and charger 383, all with scores of 19, while Jasper2529 gets third place with a score of 18. Honourable Mention is awarded to bccrane who scored 17. My congratulations and thanks to all who played, but I'm sorry that some who finally tried my quiz the last time didn't try a more regular one. I know they take a little bit of time to do, and are a bit of a challenge, but then as everyone who plays says, they are a fun thing to do.

And Thanks Buzz, a fun quiz.
You're welcome, and they all are.
Yes, they are a lot of fun, at least to me.
Congratulations to all who participated!
The lucky ones here are the ones who want to have fun, and not in a way that hurts others.
