CAR & TRAIN MOVIE QUIZ

800

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.      POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.  IT IS ALWAYS A LITTLE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAST QUIZ.

One of our most loyal participants has a great interest both in trains and special cars, and I thought I would devote this quiz to him.  As usual, besides the two image clues, the third clue is and it is REQUIRED  that the movie MUST   be a movie on one of the two IMDb  lists that are linked following this paragraph.  I usually like to use a list that has between 80 and 100 movies on it, and in this case the list for cars has 50 movies listed and the one for trains has 53 movies, and I have chosen 10 movies from each list for this quiz, and they are in mixed order on the quiz.  I have seen 6 or 7 of the movies on this quiz that I can remember, so, as always, some of the movies can be identified from just the images that often just spell out the title, but some may require you to either have watched the movies or be familiar with them or will require you to do a little research into them because the clues might represent an item, fact, scenario or aspect that will require you to have seen the movie or know the story or what the film is about.  I don't think any of them are actual screen shots from the movies.  I have used some of the movies in previous quizzes but the clues are mostly different.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.

Best Car Movies of All Time (IMDb) LINK ->   https://www.imdb.com/list/ls000071573/

Best Train Movies I've Watched (IMDb) LINK -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls003693795/?sort=date_added,desc&st_dt=&mode=detail&page=1

Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz, and usually the order of the clues is important    However, for the first time ever I used the same clue twice, as you will see.

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The" or obvious typos, but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked list or web to make sure it is the full and correct name.   For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title.  Just identifying the images does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie . That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the list to make sure they are correct.    As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is on one of the IMDb lists linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer.  In a couple of the recently previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for two of the questions.  Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie per question.

A situation came up on a previous quiz where the movie on the linked list I posted came up with a different name than the one the participant opened although it was the same link, so if that happens, please tell me.   Be careful to use ONLY  the lists linked above, because there are other similar lists that will not have the same movies.

SPECIAL HINT FOR THOSE WHO BOTHER TO READ WHAT'S ABOVE

Although some of the movies can be identified by just one of the clues, some of the clues can apply to the wrong movie, so it is IMPORTANT  to take BOTH clues into consideration.

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Previously I have combined two actors but this is the first time I have combined two topics, so I hope it works.  This quiz should not be very hard because everything you need to know will be the clues and the linked IMDb lists, i.e. you need not to have seen the movies to find the answers.  Although this is the time of year to post a Hallowe'en quiz, I've done that before and I prefer to keep changing the topic.  So give this one a try, but remember always...

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE.    POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

This quiz will be closed and the winners announced in one week, on Friday November 3rd at about 10 p.m. New York (EST) time (or will it be Daylight Saving Time then? - someone will have to tell me because they don't do that here).

explanation of Locomotive in run 8 and 440 six pack wide open

A diesel locomotive throttle has 8 power positions, in run 8 a modern locomotive is putting out about 4,400 horsepower.

When I picked my internet name my Charger had a 383 cubic inch motor which was Dodge's medium high performance motor. It wore out and I had another motor from earlier adventures. A 440 with what MOPAR (the Dodge and Plymouth high performance name) called a six pack, 3 each 2-barrel carburetors. Looks impressive, powerful and less complex and much cheaper to make than the famous 426 HEMI

In train and car terms it means I am thinking real hard

No surprise that we're off the page - and only 5 have played so far.  I'm going to do a poll for the members on my quiz notification list. asking about the degree of challenge the quizzes should present.

At this point 9 members have participated.  There are still I THINK 24 hours left to submit answers, but probably an hour more or less due to a change to Daylight Savings Time.  DST is not used here.  The quiz will be closed around that time, so don't leave it until the last hour or you might find the quiz closed

Daylight Savings Time

DST in the US begins on Sunday, 05Nov2023 at 2AM so we're OK for this quiz if members submit their answers by 10PM tonight, Friday 03Nov2023, which is the deadline.

This quiz is now closed.  Nine members participated and they are all Win, Place or Show.  Split Personality submitted his answers right away, and scored a pefect 20, and a perfect 20 score was also shared by Veronica, Dig, and Perrie.  Tied for second place with scores of 19 are Kathleen, Jasper2529, bccrane and charger 383.  Just JIm NC TttH tried the quiz and did pretty well with a score of 18.  Next quiz which will be posted shortly will be on movies with unexpected endings.

Now, for those who look but don't enter, here are the answers.  Try comparing the image clues with the answers and you'll see how I set up the quiz, and maybe you might get the idea to try one.  That is, ol course, if the challenge that everyone who does it thinks it's fun, doesn't scare you.
