PROBABLY UNKNOWN MOVIES QUIZ
PROBABLY UNKNOWN MOVIES QUIZ
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.
PLEASE, PLEASE , READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS. THIS QUIZ IS AGAIN DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS QUIZZES.
This quiz will also have only one visual clue per question, and the other clue per question is, and for the answer to be correct, it is required that it must be a movie on the linked IMDb list located just below this paragraph. The visual clues represent words, scenarios or images that may be relevant to the movie title or can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movie on the linked IMDb list. That means you will not have had to see the movie to identify the movie from the clue, which differs from the previous quiz but not those before it. Because, contrary to the previous quiz, these movies are unlikely to have been seen by you, this quiz combines the method from both the past two quizzes. I have seen only two of the movies on this quiz and a few have already been used in previous quizzes, and I may have used the same or similar clues for some of them as I had before. I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies. I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your knowledge of movies, web searching using web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.
LINKED LIST: 100 Great Movies You Probably Haven't Seen (IMDb) -> https://www.imdb.com/list/ls077628690/
Be careful to use ONLY this particular linked list because there are similar lists that may not have the same movies listed.
Note that I never use the same movie more than once in the same quiz.
THE RULES
I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name. For example, and this will be important for all my quizzes, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct. Just identifying the image does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie. That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct. As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. In previous quizzes I did accept alternatives for the questions. Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.
A few times now a situation came up on previous quizzes where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers.
Do not forget that BOTH the visual clue and the information from the linked list must be taken into consideration. Not doing so is the greatest reason for loss of score.
Please number your answers the same as the questions.

Back to making the quiz a little easier, because there is a good chance that you never saw these movies, or maybe saw only a couple of them at most. So this quiz is a hybrid, i.e. although it will have only one visual clue that will have relevance to the title, you may also find a relevant word or words in the mini-synopsis for the movie on the linked IMDb list, so it will not be necessary for you to have seen the movie or know the story. So have some fun with this one, but remember always...
PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE QUIZ FOR EVERYONE ELSE. POST THEM IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.
Because of Superbowl Weekend I am extending the closing of this quiz a couple of days, and it will be closed on Friday February 16th at about 10 p.m. New York City time. In the meantime, Happy Valentine's Day.
Thinking about the clues
Some won't take much thought, but others will.
This seems to be easier just from first glance.
We shall see.
Putting in a comment so that it stays visible for me... will start work on this when I get back from the weekend. Looks interesting.
Have a good and safe trip.
Our exit date got delayed by a day, so submitted.
Your answers are received and scored. Thank you.
I will have to get this done on Saturday since I am hosting a Super Bowl party on Sunday.
Looking forward to your answers.
Submitted.
That was quick!
Dig is first in quite often.
Received and scored, with thanks.
Looks like the Probably Unknown Movies quiz is going to probably be unknown on NewsTalkers since it's already been knocked off the Front (Home) Page, and I probably had a hand in doing it since I had the chutzpah to actually post another movie article.
Evening Buzz...gidday from Norfolk Island..even a bigger time difference now seeing I am out in the Pacific Ocean..
shona, you're an angel. You just bumped the quiz to the top of the page.
As always my pleasure even from Norfolk..
Thanks, Buzz -- glad to have another quiz to work on!
Glad you're glad.
Comb your hair and take a wiz
it's time for the movie quiz.
Brush your teeth and wash your face
If you're seeking fun this is the place.
A Sunday bump
And a Monday morning (for me) thank you.
Answered and submitted
Received with thanks, and scored.

Received and scored. Thank you.
SEnt them in after the big game
Got them and scored them, thanks.
The Super Bowl is over, but the Movie Bowl is still openl
Yep, this bowl is open for a few more days. 5 have played so far, hoping for more.
It's Tuesday morning, do you know where your answers are?
I know where the quiz itself ISN'T - on the Home (Front) Page. I guess I can understand the lack of support - perhaps interest in the quiz is fading among those who previously supported it, or maybe because a greater variety of topics is hitting the page these days, which is something I've encouraged and I'm glad to see. Well, I guess I'll have to rely on the notifications I send to regular contributors, or else George Harrison was right and All Things Must Pass.
It's Wednesday morning. Sure hope more people play a little game here rather than these end.. I have fun with them and I did learn sharing when I was young.
Thanks to you and a few others Movie Quiz Doomsday has not yet arrived.
Wednesday afternoon and we're off the front page (again). Maybe this bump will help? Hope so!
(Still working on the clues)
Keep working and get them in
Normally I would have closed the quiz in about 4 hours, but because of the Superbowl weekend the closing is extended and you still have two more days to get your answers in.
Just checked, and notwithstanding all the news, mostly bad, and product promotions that I consider to be spam but am overruled, we still sneak our way in.
Haven't been able to nail a couple down yet, been up and down the list a few times and they still might have me just making a guess. And what's worse is some of the ones I have I am still questioning. I will submit what I get tomorrow.
Don't be concerned. Even if you can't answer all of the questions, you are in good company. I have started making the quizzes a little more challenging.
And it was a good quiz.. It's Thursday morning so I'll give you a hint. The answer to #21 is not not false.
LOL.
As promised, submitted. The guesses, I hope, were of the educated type.
Received and scored, and here, wear this:
Submitted and bump!
Received and scored - thanks for that and the bump.
OK my answers are in
Received and scored - thank you.
It's Friday.. for those who are still working it's Weekend Eve!!!!. For those of us who are retired, it's another day on the correct side of grass so well done.
If you haven't gotten your answers in yet, there's still time. I believe the quiz closes tonight.
Only 7 have played, and there are only a couple hours left before closing.
This quiz is now closed. I'm wondering if I should run the same poll again among the usual participants concerning the degree of challenge the quiz should have. I just don't want anyone to get bored with something that is so easy it's just a waste of time - it has to have SOME challenge. Anyway, 8 played and everyone is included in the Winner's Circle (gold, silver, bronze, honourable mention). With scores of 19 are Snuffy and Veronica while Dig, Vic Eldred and charger 383 all got scores of 18. Perrie came in third with 17 and Honourable Mention goes to Jasper2529 and bccrane with 16. Look at it this way, when I went to school, 75% was considered "Honours". Everyone did better than 75%.
Now here are the answers for the chickens:
And now, a new quiz is posted - COMEDY MOVIES
LINK->
Thanks Buzz, this was a fun quiz. Had to think about this one, I enjoyed it.
Congrats everyone who competed, well done all (as the high scores indicate we all did well).
You're welcome.
If we can do this good, rest of you all should try the new quiz
You've got to be kidding. You're asking THEM to try one of my quizzes???
It would turn them into Eagles..
Congratulations to all! Onward to comedies!
And they're patiently waiting.
I'm thinking we should go back to 2 clues.
Give me a reason, and not just because it makes it easier.
The reason was one you gave. It helps to distinguish between two movies that fit one of the clues.
In the previous quiz it took a little more thought to distinguish 3 brothers who WANTED to be thieves from 3 persons who actually WERE thieves. Most players were able to do that. However, I am now being more careful to review all the titles and mini-synopses on the list I link to make sure I don't use a visual clue that actually is the same for more than one movie. Now that the scores appear to be more realistic and not all perfect scores I do not intend to go back to two visual clues unless for a specific topic I have to. Avid participants have indicated their satisfaction that the quizzes are a little more challenging.
Who am I to go against the avid participants. I'll just have to adjust.
You're an avid participant. I should have said SOME of the avid participants....
I should have said in "this" quiz, not in a "previous" quiz. I was speaking of question number 15.
Thanks Buzz.
That may be the nicest thing I've been called.
LOL. I know, but let's shed the politics here - here you're a regular player and a friend.
I like the 2 clues
And you are also an avid participant!
I'm not alone.
Maybe I should do a new poll for the participants.
I think I'll dig into it tomorrow. I'm a little unfocused right now.
Still lots of time.
