A little adventure romp to start your weekend and a break from the usual hostilities here.
a woman with a blade always terrifies me...
Your comment makes me realize that we think alike about that. I feel the same way about doing a movie quiz game, and it's more of a game than a quiz.
I have a little bit of a mixed feeling about this. Millie Bobby Brown has star power . She was great as Sherlock Holmes little sister in Enola Holmes, and she is very charismatic. On the other hand, according to what I've read, half of this Damsel movie takes place in the cave with only her and the dragon, and that sounds a bit much to me. The trailer looks very good though.
I watched it Friday night. I wouldn't say it was great, but it was enjoyable enough. I think they may have given away too much of the plot in the trailer; I'd have liked it better if I hadn't known a good bit of what was coming.
Millie Bobby Brown has a great career ahead of her. I loved her in Enola Holmes and Stranger Things.
I think the best performance was Robin Wright as the queen of Aurea. She makes a good villainess.
And Shoreh Aghdashloo did a good job voicing the dragon.
We did too. It was a bit derivative in many places and it's not like we didn't know where it was going the whole time, but over all I liked it.
I agree. I was confused by Angela Bassett's accent, but it didn't bother me all that much.
Anything/Everything is better with Shoreh Aghdashloo! Making her voice of the dragon was an inspired choice.
And now for a truly fantastic coincidence. Today it happens to be Zhonghe Festival in China, a/k/a Blue Dragon Festival. I will be posting an article about the festival later today. I watched the trailer on IMDb and when I saw that the dragon's cave was lit in a blue colour, and the dragon was most likely blue coloured as well, I was truly amazed by this coincidence.
I don't know that I'd say the dragon was blue - more of a grey. But the cave was lit by blue-colored light, and that is significant.
Buzz, are you able to access Netflix there? Will these movies be available a while after they've been released here?
I doubt that Netflix would be available here - the Chinese government obviously prefers to be in control of what the people can see. And in any event I do not pay money for anything like that, and NEVER over the internet anyway. Years ago there was an NT member who was able to record movies and post them so I could see them, but it is a chore, and he is no longer here. I have been watching a lot of movies recently that I've not seen before, and as you know they included Bridget Jones Diary and Becoming Jane. However China does honour copyright to movies I get to see on the TV channels here because they are at least 3 years old. Two that I really want to see that are not yet available are Dune 2, and when it has been filmed but unfortunately at least a year or so before completed will be The Accountant first sequel. Since I'm not sure at my age how long I'll still be around, I might actually have to go to a movie theatre to see them.
TBH, if my cell phone carrier weren't taking care of my Netflix bill, I'd probably cancel Netflix. It's a pretty high monthly cost for a service that still plays ads, and doesn't mind starting an ad in the middle of a sentence, which is really annoying.
I hope you get to see the movies you mentioned.
I don't know...Women who look really pissed off with swords in their hands. I will be leaving now. (Ssssssshhhhannngggg!!!)
