Notice of a great worth while event. However, for me, Star Wars ended when Han Solo was killed by his son.
Well, thank you, I haven't seen that one yet. /s
Going out to the Fandago page, it shows the showing is 20 hours 22 minutes long. Thats a long time to site in a theater. Wonder just how many tickets they will sell for this.
I wonder if that includes some longer-then-usual breaks between movies for bathroom breaks, snack purchase, etc.
I could see this maybe going over at a theater that serves actual food, like Alamo Drafthouse, but I'd get pretty sick of the snacks on offer at most theaters. If I were able to stay awake for the whole thing, that is.
Is it possible to survive on popcorn?
Not for very long. And I say that as a popcorn addict.
Do you think it will run as a non-stop marathon or will they break it over, say, 4 or 5 days? That's how they do the film festivals, it's not all on one day.
The way the article reads, it's all 9 movies in one day. In sequence but I would think they would have to take some small breaks in between each movie to allow for restroom breaks and additional snacks.
I don't think I would buy a ticket for ANYTHING if I had to sit 24 hours straight in a movie theatre, and I'm a movie lover.
a publicity/marketing stunt
If it works, maybe they'll do it with other series, like Jason Bourne, James Bond (individual actors, like Sean Connery only) or Mission Impossible. I'm sure this is to get people back in the theatres - streaming must be killing them.
I think the last movie I saw in a theater was The Secrets of Dumbledore, which was released 2 years ago. It's just so much more pleasant watching at home, where I can pause the movie if I need a bathroom break or a refill on my snack or drink. My recliner, my plush blanket, my dog on my lap. And all for a lot less money.
Yes, back in the day when TV screens were small, of course one would have preferred to see a movie in a theatre, but these days, with the size of flat screens where you are sitting perhaps only 10 or 12 feet away from, and big stereo sound systems, of COURSE it's easier, cheaper and more convenient to watch at home. We have a 4.5 foot screen where I am and it's just fine.
Of course. It's the 25th Anniversary and they are doing it on May the 4th. ie, May the 4th be with you!...
