ANTHONY HOPKINS MOVIE GAME

800

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE.   POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Don't forget that I am on the other side of the world (of most of you) and I could be asleep when you send your answers, so be patient - I will get to your PN as soon as I can.

PLEASE, PLEASE,  READ WHAT IS BELOW FIRST AND FOLLOW THE RULES IN ORDER TO GET FULL MARKS FOR YOUR ANSWERS.  THIS GAME IS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS GAME, NOT A QUIZ.

For the answer to be correct, it is REQUIRED that it MUST  be a movie on the linked  IMDb  movie list  Anthony Hopkins Filmography (a lst of 89 movies) located just below this paragraph. The visual clues represent a word(s}, scenario or image that may be relevant to the movie title or word(s) relevant to the movie plot or title that can be found in the mini-synopsis of the movie on the linked IMDb list or in some cases what the image is could in fact be the movie title.  That means that for all the questions you will not have had to see the movies or even know the stories to identify the movies from the clues, which is why this is a game more like a treasure hunt than a quiz.  I have seen at least 19 of his movies, but only 6 of the movies on this game, and I believe I’ve used some of them in previous quizzes or games, wherein I might have used the same or similar clues for some as I had before.  I don't think any of the clues are actual screen shots from the movies.  I try to use clues that do not make it easy to do a web search, and since this is a test of your ability to find the answers, web searching using google or web programs that identify movies from the clues is cheating.  The real fun of the game is using the visual clues and mini-synopses required to identify the movies – the challenge is what makes it a worthwhile task.

Anthony Hopkins Filmography (IMDb)

LINK ->  Anthony Hopkins Filmography

There may be lists with the same or similar names but with different movies or sources so  IT IS NECESSARY to use ONLY the one that is linked above.

Note that I (almost) never use the same movie more than once in the same game.  I said "almost" because I mistakenly actually DID use the same movie twice in the Pirate Movie Game, but caught it and replaced it when I got the first submission.

THE RULES

I am being fairly lenient in my scoring, and not overly concerned about spelling mistakes, obvious typos, punctuation, capitalizing or leaving out or adding an extraneous "A" or "The", but especially if you guess the answer you should check the movie name on the linked lists or web to make sure it is the full and correct name.   For example, and this will be important for all my games, you will lose a half mark if you make the title one word if it is two, or two words when it is only one because that means to me that you are not sure of the title and you never checked your answer with the list to make sure it is correct.  Just identifying the image does not necessarily mean that you know the name of the movie.  That is only one of the reasons why it is important for you to check your answers with the lists to make sure they are correct.   I can't believe how many times players do not bother and then lose score.  As well, if you can convince me that my clues are equally as relevant for or better indicative of a movie other than the one I've chosen, provided it is one of the movies on the IMDb list linked above, I will accept that alternative as a good answer. Previously I did accept alternative movies for the questions.

Please also send only one answer for each question - I cannot score it if you provide more than one movie name per question.

A few who played the games when they were quizzes previously had quit because of the rules. But I wish to ask if there is a game that does NOT have rules that must be followed?  Even a hint could mislead other players, and the biggest problem is that if I were to allow it I might have to spend unnecessary hours of research to make sure it didn't lead to a movie in the game.

A few times now a situation came up previously where the movie list link I used came up with a different name than the one the participant got when they opened that same movie name although it was the same link, so if that happens, and usually it is a foreign movie, please tell me when I score your answers

Please number your answers the same as the questions.

There's just TOO MUCH CONTROVERSIAL POLITICAL NEWS and a short break from it is what the doctor is ordering for your health.  So please take a little while to play a really easy game that will not only be an escape from the massive divisive sometimes unbelievable news of the day and play an easy game to have some fun.

Hopefully others feel as I do that Anthony Hopkins is a good choice for the game.  IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO SEE ANY OF THE MOVIES TO GET A PERFECT SCORE.  Most of the questions are pretty easy - some virtually shout out the movie title to you and I don't think there is a killer question in the list like there was for the last game, so come on everyone, have some fun, but remember always...

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR ANSWERS, ANY MOVIE OR ACTOR NAMES, IMAGES, MOVIE QUOTES OR EVEN A HINT IN A COMMENT HERE, OR YOU WILL RUIN THE GAME FOR EVERYONE ELSE.   POST YOUR ANSWERS IN A PRIVATE NOTE TO ME, BUZZ OF THE ORIENT, AND I WILL REPLY WITH YOUR SCORE AND THE CORRECT ANSWERS.

Okay, I'm giving you two weekends to do this one, it will be closed and the Winners' Circle announced on Monday March 24th at 10 p.m. New York time.

You don't have to be a film buff.  This is a game, not a quiz.  It's a "seek and ye shall find" kind of a treasure hunt game.  The answers are there, if not in your knowledge of the films, then the clues themselves are the answer and if not, then the answer is in the mini-synopses for each movie on the linked IMDb list so its just your common sense to link the words that are there with what the clue is, and if nothing works for you, the process of elimination might.

Give it a try.  I explain what the correct answers are and where you could have found them if you're wrong, and you will learn how to win.  You do not need to see even one of the movies to get a perfect score.  If you're not in the Winners' Circle of 1st. 2nd, 3rd and Honourable Mention, nobody will know your score.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO INTENDED PARTICIPANTS

QUESTION NUMBER 11 AND ITS CLUE HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR A DIFFERENT MOVIE

THE PREVIOUS CLUE AND ANSWER ARE NO LONGER VALID. It has come to my attention that in America the linked ANTHONY HOPKINS FILMOGRAPHY list shows a different name for the movie than it does when I open the list, and that made the clue I had originally posted irrelevant.

Those who have already submitted answers and missed getting number 11 right are given the opportunity to guess the new answer from the new clue for the chance of improving their score.

"Relaxation time."

Wish more members would realize and take advantage of that, especially since it does not require them to have seen even one movie in their life to still achieve a perfect score - it's a fun challenge to squeeze into their busy week.

Whoa if it wasn't for the geography quiz, I would've almost missed this one.  I looked at this one after the five to ten minutes I spent on the geography quiz (which is the main reason I didn't get them all, since it you miss one it meant automatically you missed two, this also answers the question you posed to me this morning), only to just now spend another 20 minutes to do this one.

Your answers have been received and scored.  You might want to spend a little more than 20 minutes on the next movie game, it won't be as easy, and you could have spent a lot more time on this one since it isn't closing until a whole week from now.

This game is now closed.  I'm happy that my goal of double digit participation has been reached, guaranteeing the continuation of the movie games.  All but one player reached the Winners' Circle.  Perfect scores of 20 for First Place were shared, in order of submitting, by Perrie, Split Personality, Dig, Veronica and Kathleen.  Second Place with scores of 19 was shared by Snuffy and charger 383, while Third Place was won by bccrane who got 18 right.  Honourable Mention is awarded to Vic Eldred for a score of 17 1/2.  Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who participated.

For those who don't play, and miss the fun of doing so, here are the answers.  Compare them with the clues and see what you could have done had you tried.

1   A Change of Seasons - a carpenter
2   The Road to Wellville - Kellogg's Corn Flakes
3   The World's Fastest Indian - Indian mototcycle
4   The Lion in Winter - a lion in a snowstorm
5   The Efficiency Expert - moccasins  (alternate title, Spotswood).
6   When Eight Bells Toll - clock at 8 with bell alarm
7   Meet Joe Black - Death
8   Noah - a flood scene
9   Magic - ventriloquist with dummy
10  Legends of the Fall - father with 3 sons
11  Proof - a mentally unbalanced mathematician
12  A Doll's House - a doll's house
13  360 - a kaleidoscope
14  The Remains of the Day - a silent butler
15  Saving Picasso - a Picasso painting
16  The Good Father - lesbians
17  Juggernaut - the Britannic liner
18  Freejack - a race car driver
19  August - Uncle Vanya novel
20  Bram Stoker's Dracula - a vampire bat  (alternate title Dracula)

The biggest problem for the players was number 14, most likely because they were not familiar with what is known as a 'silent butler'.
