Who Are Your Favorite Actors And Actresses, and Why?
My favorite actor has always been Paul Newman. I just liked his characters, which were usually rebels or loners or guys who went their own way, most famously I suppose was Cool Hand Luke, but there was also Hud, the detective character Harper, and the character my screen name comes from , John Russell the half breed anti-hero from the great western HOMBRE.

As the years went by I started to learn more about Newman's private life, read a biography about him, and learned that he was one of the most "regular guys" of any Hollywood superstar. He would regularly visit neighborhood bars in whatever location he was filming and buy everyone in the joint a drink and sit and chew the fat with them for a while. Later in life Paul Newman became a great philanthropist. His food brand , Newman's Own has donated over 500 million dollars to charity. Paul Newman also donated considerable amounts to theater groups and college theater departments.

My favorite actress is Meryl Streep. From the first times I saw her, in The Deerhunter and in the tv miniseries Holocaust, it was clear to me that this actress was something special. She always portrays intelligence and thoughtfulness, and has a great range. She has played both the Prime Minister of Britain and the cooking icon Julia Child. Catholic nuns, and lonely housewives. Her ability to inhabit characters and master accents is legendary.
