Movie Image Quiz

This quiz was originally posted only on the Everyone Loves Movies group, but although there are about 50 members of that group, only 3 members tried the quiz (and passed it), so I've decided to see if any other members have an interest in something other than politics and religion.  As I have asked in previous quizzes, PLEASE DO NOT POST ANSWERS AS COMMENTS UNTIL WEDNESDAY . If you can send me a Private Note then you can send me your answers right now and I will respond with your score and the answers right away. In any event I will publish the answers on Friday.

The images are not screen shots from the films, but of items or anything else that are symbolic of the title or indicative of something important in the movie.  I will try in this quiz not to use clues that are esoteric details in the movies, although I will for the sake of making it a little challenging use a few questions that are little more difficult. You will never again see me post a quiz that is so super easy as the one where the answers were almost included in the questions - a 5 year old who never saw the movies might have been able to answer most of them.  Some of the images could apply to more than one movie, and if so answer with as many movies as you can think of that could be applicable, and if you include the one I contemplated when posting the clue, your answer will still be correct.

There is no text, the image is the question and the title of the movie is the answer for all of them. Using the image as your clue, name the movie

Some are so easy, others not so much.

Yes, but a quiz that is all easy or all hard is probably a waste of time.  So far the scores on this have been 11/20, 13/20 and 15/20 and it's been called a fun quiz - so if you like watching movies, try it.

Don't laugh, but that is the only kind of movie quiz I can pass. True story.

Though, some of these ring a distant, muffled bell.

Okay I won't laugh, but can I at least smile? Some people are more into movies than others - naturally not everyone is.

Would you know the name of the movie if this were the clue?  "Rick's Cafe Americain"

Oh yes.

That is included on the print which is mounted on the wall to the left of me as a plane flies overhead.

Well, at least a few people had enough interest to try the quiz.  Here are the answers to it:

Answers to the Movie Image Quiz

  1.   Cast Away.  The Wilson ball was Tom Hanks' companion on the deserted island.  He named it Wilson.
  2.   Hunt for Red October  -  I hunted for a red calendar.
  3.   Wizard of Oz  -  I was lucky to find this image.I would not use an identifiable screen shot but at least this picture had a teetering house in it.
  4.   Ocean's 11  -   The image is of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas - the one George Clooney and his crew robbedof millions of dollars.
  5.   You've Got Mail  - Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan do it again.
  6.   The DaVinci Code  -  That is a cryptex, and the magic word was "apple" to open.  It hada clue to find the Holy Grail inside.
  7.   Schindler's List  -  the opening scene of the movie is of someone lighting the Sabbath candles, and then the flame goes out and a trail of smoke rises, but then the camera pans down to show that the smoke is rising from a train carrying Jews to Auschwitz.
  8.   Back to the Future  -  I used this clue in a previous image quiz I did.  Michael J. Fox, playing Marty McFly, zoomed around on a skateboard.
  9.   The Last Emperor  -  I took that photo of a little kid on the Emperor's throne in one of China's dynasty capitals, Kaifeng.  The actual last Emperor of China was a young child.
  10.  The Third Man  -  I tried to circle him but my hand was really unsteady.
  11.  Rear Window  -  Note that it is a very plain window, not the kind you would see on the front of a house.
  12.  Lawrence of Arabia  -  Nobody should get that one wrong.
  13.  Grapes of Wrath  -  I originally posted a photo of withered grapes and thanks to Trout Giggles realized it could be misinterpreted. I hope this picture will make the answer more obvious..
  14.  High Noon  -  Okay, it's a clock showing the time to be 12 and a little sun to indicate it's daytime - i.e. High Noon.
  15.  Citizen Kane  -  I don't think it needed the name "Rosebud" on it to identify one of the most famous movies from Hollywood.
  16.  The King's Speech  - That is the actual King George VI in a pose that was imitated by Colin Firth in the movie, right after giving the famous speech.
  17.  One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest  -  Another image I can't believe I found.
  18.  The Green Mile  -  Well, okay, it's a mile SIGN - the best I could find.
  19.  Boogie Nights  -  I don't think many of you saw that movie, but it included a lot of well-known stars, like Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle, Mark Wahlberg, William H. Macy and  Heather Graham was "Rollergirl" who was always on roller skates throughout the movie.
  20.  The African Queen  -  Another lucky image find  -  should need no explanation.
