Making the photos big on the page is okay as long as you don't have to start scrolling the verticle ones in order to see the whole photo.   You can adjust those to fit the page.

I always set the width in percentage of the column. These are from 70% to 90%.

If you grab a corner of your browser window, and increase / decrease the size of the window, you'll see that the images changes size dynamically.

If you think these are too big, I can make the base size smaller. No problem.

I adjusted the size of the two vase photos to fit the page - that is what I meant. The other photos are no problem because the complete photos can be seen without scrolling. 

You've done a great job of capturing detail and artifacts, and there is an awful lot of detail and a lot of artifacts in China.
