"You Kids Never Learn!"
Growing up, usually as of the very first day of any new year, when the weather even hinted of spring (like a day of 30 degrees vs. one of, say, 20 degrees), thousands of kids in the schoolyards, on the streets or in the driveways of Philly, would defy the instructions of moms across the city and play touch football WITHOUT THEIR COATS AND HATS!
My mother had a kind of standard litany that she laid on me when I joined the defiant and became compliant in what she accused as
"Rushing the season, being a wiseguy, going out with my chest open and/or with a wet head!"
The punctuation mark wrap up/guilt trip closing argument of those allegations came in the words
"You can't afford to get sick now!"
Being the defiant, hard head I was then and am to this day, no one has ever to my satisfaction, told me when I could afford to get sick! And to this day, I do, at least metaphorically , rush the season, be a wiseguy, go out with my chest open and/or with a wet head (which is quite a feat since have have no real hair to speak of)!"
As validation of that on-going defiance, after a winter that's included 5 or 6 feet of snow and many, many bitterly cold days, I once again -- this very day -- am rushing the season by
posting some images of SPRING (of past years).
Enjoy the rush.
Care to walk in the woods? This path is just down the street from my house (Philly has preserved a lot of forested parkland).
Same park. Tell ya' what come by in about 8 weeks, I'll show you the park, buy you breakfast and shoot the breeze with ya'.

''And no convictions''..Your lucky Mac.
I can only say one thing about your photos...''I walk a path less traveled''. The ''Red Road'' beckons us Mac.
I believe Yaqui culture calls it "The Path With a Heart."
I like that a lot.
Oh Mac, now I really have Spring Fever . . . from not wearing a hat or gloves you think?? lol
Beautiful pic's Mac, you never disappoint me with your pic's ! thanks again for sharing your gift.
Love the reflections in the water...
Now that it's almost the first day of Spring season (March 21 I think) I too am looking forward to going out and photographing some signs of it. As usual, great photos, Mac.
One can almost catch the faint aroma of a damp rich dark forest soil in these photographs AMac as you usually do fill the lens better than I ever have. Great work sir.
All of these are a true comfort to my soul!!! Thank you for posting them! I think that the last one is my very favorite-- I love to see the clouds in the sky through the trees-- especially when they are spring delicates!!!
Thank you, again!
