Restoring 100-Plus Year Old Photographs
Some are in better condition than others; some have information regarding subject -- some not. Some of the subject information is in German (I have no knowledge of the German language). Some have date information, some I have to estimate (although I know that the dates range from 1885-1925 based on how I acquired the photos.
What's the process and why do I restore these images?
Create digital files from original glass slides
Digitally optimize (without over-editing) contrast, brightness, sharpness
Digitally remove stains, repair blemishes, scratches, and add missing image content if/when possible
Embed key word information in order to make it easy for potential publishers to locate and lease a given image (this can take some researching on my part)
Submit the restored digital files to various marketing outlets/agents.
NOTE: Since these images are all older than 70 years, because I own the original glass slides, I technically own the licensing rights as well (even though I did not create the originals). And, because I market the images as "Vintage Photographs," I do not restore them "too much" as they would lose the charm they possess as such.

Oldies and Goodies!
I market these in two ways; one via agents that represent my images to publishers on a worldwide basis. Based on the usage, the agents set the price and receive a percentage.
I also market these and several thousand of my images as prints (on canvas, metal, various paper stock, as greeting cards and even cell phone covers/cases). The prints can be ordered framed, matted or without same.
If you have a preference of subjects, let me know. If I can accommodate, I'll e-mail you a file so you can print it. I'd direct you to my website but I don't want you to pay for any of my images; I don't accept money from friends. Since I don't do the printing of the images marketed via the website, I can't control the ordering and billing -- but, I can print and matte smaller prints (5" x 7") and send you one as a good will gesture of friendship.
Let me know.
Great photo's AMac, funny you have used glass negatives for this article, the single photo I have of my deceased Mother holding me as a baby I had made some 20 years ago and the glass negative has since been broken beyond repair.
Can you photograph the negative in its present state I'd like to see what's what.
It's great that you can make a hobby that you love into a money-making business. That is a truly happy and successful way to live one's life. Money alone is not success.
A profound truth, however, I've been buying one lottery ticket a week for about a month and will continue to do so, that in the hope of (1) giving my grandchildren a load of money, (2) getting you to Philly and then to the Pocono Mountains where you, I, Kavika, Larry Crehore and who knows who else, can hang out, go fishing and have a once-in-a-lifetime get-together.
Ah, if only dreams could come true...
(Sometimes they do - so we never give up hope.)
Hope springs eternal, I'm for it Mac.
Me too Mac, I'm ready for a ''fishing trip'' for the guys.
BTW, I'm over 70 so does that make me ''vintage''?
Vintage is as Vintage does.
It's as much a "quality" thing as it is age, so, either way, you qualify.
Pretty smooth Mac...
Forgot to include Mike L (currently Dr. Rock) to the fishing trip.
Yo! Mike! I think the Mega Millions drawing is at 11:00 PM Philly time tonight.
I'll have my accountant notify you and the others as to the travel and other arrangements. Now I'm no pessimist, but I must note that since buying these lottery tickets, I have yet to get even one number on any one ticket.
So, this time, I picked all numbers I thought wouldn't come up.
Wish us luck.
Ohhhh shit, Dr Rock is going...LOL, this is really going to be fun.
I'm standing by the telephone Mac.
Just checked my ticket.
Well, there's always next week.
Once again, not a single correct number.
I'M DUE!
