Lettin' It Fly

Some days, photography won't do it for me; on those days, I just paint what comes through.

These might be referred to as "polyreferential" digital paintings; they potentially have as many different "meanings" as they may have viewers.

I'd be interested (and likely fascinated) by any reactions -- positive, negative or indifferent.

The first one reminders of an Ojibwe Fancy Dancer.

The second one reminds me of walking on a glass floor.

Third reminds of of mathematics.

Fourth are doors opening to the heavens.

LOL, don't ask me to explain why I see what I see.

I am nothing if not symmetrical.

Thank you my friends for interesting interpretations.

The third one looks to be a passage way of some kind. It almost has an Egyptian feel to it, I think, and the colors help that feeling along. That image would be very interesting in 3D. It's my favorite.

I had nothing in mind when I made it, but after it was finished, I thought "Mexican" or "Aztec".

Perhaps. Those would work, too. That's the way most art is, I think, especially this kind. We make something and then later it tells us what it is.

I can see Kavika's interpretation of the first and last. The second I would call "Time and time again" and the third is somewhat Escheresque.

It does have an Escher feel but it's not actually a tesselation pattern.

Ha!! You made me go to the dictionary with that one.

I saw the background of #3 as being similar to this:

...and the forground, being a concentration of the background into a glass globe, as being similar to what Escher did with this:

Both of which are Escher creations.

OK the first one is the working of my brain.

The second one feels like a Hockney. Love it!

The third one feels very deco.

And the last one has the feel of an Indian blanket.

All are wonderful!

I liked the last one best ... something about the curves .
The 3rd one was the most interesting . It combined a futuristic design with old style wood paneling for colors .
The 2nd reminds me a little of Dali .
The 1st one reminds me of Perrie's mind ...Grin.gif

Good to see you, Perrie.

Thanks for the interpretations.

I think the "Indian Blanket" is what I "saw" after I completed it.

1. Kaleidoscope (like when we were kids)

2.Glass over water with images passing beneath

3. One of those woodne boxes with secret locking mechanisms

4. Almost like a very pretty kite with a rectangular frame

Interesting food for the eyes and brain.

I'd love to see what the first image was pre-manipulation.

It actually began as an image I digitally made as a pure abstract of sorts like this one

5198_discussions.jpg?width=721 I selected the whole image and applied several swirls. One whimsical "lettin' fly" image led to another.
