Should I be concerned?

I'm just kidding . . . I think.

My daughter is 15 and in the Robotics and Simulation Academy at her high school. Below are her sketches of characters for the video game she and her team are creating for this year's final project.

These sketches impress and disturb me at the same time. I can't draw a stick figure so the fact that she can create these amazes me. Definitely not my cup of tea but they are good, right?

Thoughts? Does she have talent or am I just being a mom?

Hmmmmmmmm..................I thought only boys were into gore and monsters. Unless these are portraits of family members. If they are portraits, you should worry. Maybe leave town.

She's very much in a man's world when it comes the academy she attends, so these characters probably reflect much more of her male teammate's psyche than her own.

Family members, huh? Now that you mention it, that drooling middle character looks quite familiar. Uncle Grayson? Is that you? ((packing bags))

The last one looks like a cross between Dr. Seuss and LSD.

These have a commercial/professional quality to them. Please share again.

Yikes -- that is one scary bunny rabbit. Character from a movie or your costume from last Halloween?

Thanks, Badfish.

Thanks, flame. Can't say I like them, but I do see talent when I look at them. She's not convinced, though. She thinks I'm looking at them through a mother's biased eye.

I wouldn't worry GeeGee. My daughter drew things like that, and she grew up to be, well she grew up.Smile.gif

I'll have to take your word on that, Hal.

However, I don't believe I'll share with my daughter that her art looks like an acid trip to Whoville. LOL.

Good to hear, Kavika.Grin.gif

I'm not all that concerned, really. She's a leveled headed kid who has a pretty good sense of self. I wish I had had a smidgen of her confidence when I was her age.

It could have been Donnie Darko.

Don't worry. Art is a great release. Its not an issue. Its fun and likely draws attention to draw such things. They are quite wonderful (but that's just my point of view).

Hahahaha, Grump sure hit the nail on the head! Maybe you should get out of town, without your daughter, GGSmile.gif Smile.gif Family members are generally very inspiring when it comes to creativity such as this, don't you think?

Your daughter definitely has talent, GG, gory or not! Actually, they appear to be more like comical figures than scary ones to me. So I don't think you need to worry about the deeper layers of her psyche..yetSmile.gif .
