It's Here -- Glad I was Ready!
In most years, the peak fall colors come to the central portion of Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains in mid-October; today being September 28th, I was surprised while heading north from Philly to the Poconos, to see more and more colors appear.
I go very few places without my camera and tripod and fortunately, today being no exception, I was both lucky to be in the right place and ready to take advantage of my good luck.
To friends on The NewsTalkers, here is my first decent autumn shot of 2013.
Hope you like and, if you do, wish you were here to share it live and in person.

I guess that string of cool nights we just had triggered this beauty. Very nice shot A. Mac.I'll guess it is Pike County? It reminds me of the meadows around the Delaware forest there.
Best fall colors in the last four or five years -- and peak is forecast for October 12th.
I'll be there.
Carbon County -- but you're in the right neighborhood.
OH Mac! It looks like a painting. Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks you for sharing this beauty that you are so fortunate to be able to enjoy in person.
Stunning Mac. Looking forward to seeing the Oct 12th photos.
here ya go Mac get ready for this too, this is what I was deer hunting in on Sept 25th, the snow line is @ about 8000 ft and more has come down since , we haven't really had the colors turn yet , and with the early snow , we may not.
Thanks Mark,
I love to get snow images before those clumsy humans track it all up.
Mac,
I think that it's wonderful that you can share the beauty of our Pocono Mountains. Your artistry really shows it's majesty.
Nice pictures, AMac!
I just got back from camping on Horseshoe Lake in the Adirondacks. It was beautiful: crystal clear days, bright crimson and honey golds, peach and cranberry colored leaves. I took an abundant amount of photos, only to be greeted with a "No Image Available" screen when I went to download them....
Glad you got some.
Thanks Perrie,
The snow scene is actually in Philly part of the Fairmount Park System.
Bro,
The images may not be lost.
What application are you using to access them?
Well, they are supposedly stored on my Camera (Pentax K2000) in jpeg format. I reviewed them a little bit while I was taking them, then when I went to review them that night at camp, got two messages: No Image Available and Disk Not Formatted. I brought the SD card home and tried loading it to my computer by just transferring the jpeg files directly across and it had nothing, supposedly, in the DCIM file, though the DCIM file was there.
I was feeling ready to cry or curse at this point. I don't know whether it is the camera or the media that is the problem. I am looking for an update or maybe a refresh for the camera driver, but not sure if it is flash or hard coding....
Terrific A Mac!!! I hope to visit that area some day... Looks like this is a good time of year for such a visit.
I haven't had much photography inspiration lately... sigh... But I am going to Turkey next Wednesday, so maybe I will find some inspiration there. I am not even taking my Nikon... just my little Lumix.
Cheers,
Mal
If you're ever out my way, particularly in the fall, let me know ahead of time and we'll hook up.
Such beautiful pictures! Peace at the end of a long day!
Thanks for sharing them with us!
Beautiful pictures as usual A Mac. I swear I know a place what we call down home that looks exactly like the first picture (Article Picture). There's a old rut road that runs through the pare where the trees are older and Venus Fly Traps grew along the side of the road. I will have to go very soon and see if they are still growing there. I probably will not make it in time.
Early, for sure! It's not happening here, yet. Not cold enough. Love the weeds and all - in color now and then again when the frosts come.
Turkey!! One thing I'll be interested in reading is if the "red tea" is different or better , in your opinion, and next - all of the other spectacular looking places like Troy, Mt. Nemrut sculptures, and of course, the sculptures of the Gods wherever they were. But the one interesting, to me [mentioned by a viner] thing is - the Whirling Dervishes. Sounds very spiritual and mystical.
Hi Mal! Hope you are well and that you have a wonderful trip!
Oh Mac, that looks like a picture. I don't know how you manage to out due yourself all of the time.
Younever disappoint me with your work. Thanks for sharing.
