Beautiful as always, Mac. You are really touching a heart string with the Fall colors thingy too, because I miss them an awful lot here where it is always green. The smell of burning leaves used to drive me bonkers too.
Mike, have you folks had a real bad dry spell recently? I remember once up north when we had a truly dry summer an the leaves were all off the trees in early Sept. about a month early.
Friends can disagree and still remain friends; like the song says
There ain't no good guys,
There ain't no bad guys,
There's only you and me and
We just disagree.
Regarding the printing process, there are a number of them, the best (IMO) being Giclee printing. I have a web site on which I offer my images in various print formats, matted if one likes, framed, on metal, canvas, various papers -- be happy to send the link if you're curious.
I have several of my images printed on Canvas using the Giclee process and indeed they fool everyone -- they look like oil paintings.
Doesn't make too much sense considering the conditions that you describe. Down here in Florida it sure would be nice to see some other color besides green. It ain't easy being green don'tcha know?
we have trees here that lose their leaves also. I call them pig ears because they turn brown and just drop off the trees. The thing about them is that they don't rot. They just lay on the ground until they are raked and hauled away. Your temps remind me of Phoenix. We don't get that high but on occasion we cap 100 but the humidity is a killer.
Your photos are magnificent as always, A.Mac. I'm looking forward to the fall series - it's my favourite season and I miss the colours of the Ontario countryside but I know you will bless us with your fabulous renditions of Autumn.
That in itself is enticing. I had some really good friends who lived in Long Beach who used to tell me about doing just that. Sounded like great fun but sadly I never got to try that kind of a day trip out! The highest point here in Florida where we live is the airport at 30 feet! No snow there!
In Canada, Vancouver is known for that. Grouse mountain is on the edge of the city, and you can go up the mountain to ski in the morning, then back down to play golf or swim in the afternoon.
I/we live on the northeast coast of Florida and it does indeed get chilly at night. The green however never goes away. I remember just a single night when we had snow flurries which melted the minute the hit the ground but it was fascinating while it happened. A December blizzard in Ct which was so deep on our roof that it threatened to collapse it was what finally drove us out of there. We had occasional ice storms too which that area was not accustomed to getting. Looked something like this which was the front area of a Convent in town.
Oh yeah, they smell gorgeously. I can smell mine as soon as I come to the driveway.
Gardening in Florida can be tough. I remember being able to do it only after October. I tried different things in Summer just to come home and find them torched by the sun
White Christmas. That's it. No more snow necessary. So we can have a long Spring (or half/half Fall/Spring) with one evening of snow on Dec 24.. How'bout that?
We made an agreement when we came to Florida that any plants or flowers were to be her domain. I would trim the hedges and all that other stuff but she did the flowers in the pots. Now she can't walk any more so guess who those chores fall to now. I have replaced a bunch of her flowers with bright red geraniums which love the sun so that's it. After all the years of dirt digging on the farm and I don't want to do that anymore! She's got color--that's it!
Red geraniums are beautiful. I used to have them in flower boxes on my deck but the cat decided to sleep over them. So I renamed the cat "petunia" and no longer plant anything in those boxes
I had all reads until I found what they called a Martha Washington Geranium at a local greenhouse and I brought that one home. It has something like a striped blossom but is not as hardy as the regular one! I lied up above she has colors multiple. You can send Petunia here because I've got about a half dozen of them lined up. She'd be in hog heaven.
Yes, the days are fading into twilight earlier each day and the warm breezes of summer are being chased away by the hastening fall winds...it is that time of year.
That was a beautiful story, Raven Wing. But during the time the trees, etc, were coated with ice, did the sun come out? When that happens your world becomes a crystal paradise - sparkling in the sunlight - an unforgettable sight that makes the inconveniences dwindle.
Hate to see 'em leave
But then bring on those fabulous fall colors!
I've seen those Mike, fantastic the way they can do it.
Mac, simply beautiful.

Damn Mike, that's almost unbelievable..I'm north of you and the trees are still a full green.

Northeast coast. Daytona Beach area.
Awesome pictures, A. Mac. Just beautiful. And yes to the fall colors!
Here's an autumn poster from last fall -- an appetizer for the coming fall.
Just gorgeous, as always, A Mac. Can just feel casting a line into that little stream!!
Wild browns and brookies! It's Sand Spring Run in the Poconos and it feeds the Lehigh River.
can we skip Winter and go straight to Spring?
Only if you can figure out how I can grow Lilacs here in Florida! I had hedges of the purples in Ct and did they smell heavenly!!
But what about my snow scenes?
You're dreaming of a green Christmas? Just like the ones Floridians always know? Wait a few years, you'll have to go to the North Pole to see snow.

Can you import them from Canada?

Ditto
Wow. Awesome.
I like Fall

That's her
And I suspect she's an alien too

Zebra Heliconian ... what a cool name .
I think the "heliconian" can be attributed to the appearance of the butterfly in flight -- the look like helicopters. The "zebra" part is obvious.
Yes, they could easily be oil paintings. If I had to pic a favorite, I'd vote the third one.
