They all seem to have a very narrow depth of focus . It is impressive to be able to defocus the backdrop like that . I thought that high ISO numbers were only for low light conditions ... but I guess they also permit rapid shutter speeds .
Petey, The shallow depth of field enables the subject to "pop" out at the viewer. It's true, the high ISO settings allow the sensor/or film to gather more light in low-light conditions, but, the higher settings also allow for faster shutter speeds -- a real plus when taking wildlife shots and i.e. your trying to stop the fluttering a a butterfly's wings.
The disadvantage of using the high ISO (ASA) settings has always be image graininess (noise), but some of the newer technology incorporates algorithms to minimize that.
Superb, AMac! I was going to guess another Canon...the greens always seemed to be the way I could tell the difference between the two cameras. At any rate, I love the color hues.
Click on the pic for best look.
Come see the butterflies before they leave.
Gorgeous A. Mac and thanks for sharing the pics!
:~)
WOW!!! That camera takes amazing photos, the clarity and color... it's like you don't need Mac anymore!
ANOTHER new camera? What is this new one? It certainly has great sharpness in macro mode.
Buzz, It's a Nikon D7100 and it is beyond belief; the lower of the two butterflies was shot at ISO 1250! And the top image ISO 6400!
I just got the camera yesterday so I'm still going through the menu items and setting. I'll probably post more shots tomorrow.
One word . . . STUNNING !!
Two words
Thank you.

Beautiful photos A Mac.
Thanks Iar -- I know you've got some fine imagery yourself, please share some!

They are beautiful. Have plenty of them in my garden. Another reason to be happy to come home
