Yesterday was my 61st birthday. It's been a while since I saw my face. Decided I would take a look.
Well...I still have a chin. My neck is red because I had to shave it 3 times to get it clean.
I do that Every once in a while... then I remember why I grew the beard in the first place. Shave? Every day? Just to look at my face?? MY face!?!?!? Nahhhhhhh.
I was thinking a Cleric - You could have been the next President of Iran (with a little nudge from the US military-- Do it or die! ), and we could have ended the Middle East conflict!
Your new look is very nice! Six said red-necks are better, so you'll be happy in your new life, too.
(Your family song reminded me of one we made up as kids and sang to pretend we knew how to speak Chinese--off-topic, but it was a family song!! lol)
There was an article on the other site not long ago about men and their beards, why they have them, et al. I was surprised how many didn't say it had anything to do with shaving, but admitted it was to hide scars or something else. I had never thought of that. ..I think facial hair, depending on a lot of things, can be a nice addition for a man, and they should do what makes them feel the best about themselves.
I think every fambly must have a song or two that stands the currents of time and space. I do love em.
Well, it is nice that you feel that way. As if it is any of their business, many folks seem to dislike beards, whiskers, tattoos and hair on men. Go figure. Me, I just don't much give a rat's pattooty what anyone thinks one way or the other. I grow a big beard in the winter because my face gets cold. I alter it come the hot weather because, well, because it's hot. And, I get bored with my mug.
I've always been partial to 19th century style in clothing and hair. My daughter once told me, "Hey, Dad, you dress exactly like you did when you were five!" My answer, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I do have what my daughter calls a "soul patch" which are actually Duane Allman MemorialWhiskers. Haven't shaved that since Duane ran his bike into that truck in Gawguh. Requiescat in Pace.
LoL, 19th century made a lot more sense in so many ways over this century! lol..mostly joking..but that 20% carries a lot of weight! Your "soul patch" sounds very, very special.
Yeah, I got attacked by a dog when I was 7. Left me with a couple of scars that make shaving a real pain. A lot of men with scars tell me the same thing. It's not about the beard, it's about the trouble of shaving the scar without cutting yourself.
Alicia doesn't like my beard either, but she's been with me a long time and she knows how hard it is to shave.
Hi tex. Looks like you had a rough night! Personally, my beard seems to get thicker and spread higher on my face and down my neck as the years go by. Eventually I'll be like my grandpa I guess. His beard hair grew all the way down and met his chest hair. He just shaved to a straight line below his adam's apple. He shaved with a straight razor all his life till he passed at 68 years old.
Howdy back, and another Happy B Day. As we advance into pre-geezerism the more the merrier.
Yeah. A rough decade for a miscreant cartoonist/carpenter of scant means and little brain might be more apt. No worries though. Life bum bum bums along regardless.
I'd love to see a pic of your Grand Paw's Beard. That would make a pretty decent band name, if not already used. Now opening for The Doo Doo Balls, My Grand Paw's Beard. Or something. Being like your Grand Paw is a good thing. I'm just hoping I end up with more hair on the top of my head than he did. So far, so good.
I use a straight razor to cut in little areas but mainly use an old style safety razor to semi clean up when hot weather arrives. I get around to it about once a week or so depending on the way the bones roll.
Hope you had a mighty fine Birf Day and that they continue for a long time.
Wheel,
First Happy Birthday! Second, love the new you. Took 10 years off your face, literally and figuratively!
I do that Every once in a while... then I remember why I grew the beard in the first place. Shave? Every day? Just to look at my face?? MY face!?!?!? Nahhhhhhh.
Happy birthday, and many sweet returns.
Well...I could rob the bank NOW and grow the beard back maybe?
So are you saying I looked 70 with the beard?
I hate shaving. I have a couple of scars that are hard to shave and my beard is heavy but my face is tender as a baby's butt.
Wheel? Wheel, is that you? I hate shaving, too. I shave once a week.
Happy Birthday, beardless one.
There goes that gig with ZZ Top ... Happy birthday !
My granddaughter is only 18 months old. She's never seen me without a beard. She was very dubious of the change at first.
Alicia is all over me. She loves it when I shave my beard. I told her not to get used to it.
I'm ONLY 61. Kind of young for ZZ Top don't you think?
I shave during the hot part of the year, about once a week or 2. That full on beard gets hot!
Wheel I like the new look. You are much easier to look at without the beard. You need a stick to beat the women off.
Happy Belated Birthday Wheel........
jwc, That was funny!!

Happy Birthday!
Hmmm...Farsi with a southern accent?
Just call me Bubba Habib.
LOL!
Happy B Day!
Your face is nekkid! Mine is far to skeery to expose to the public in general.
Our Mama used to sing us a little ditty about that when we were but yard apes. Can't remember the entire song but the tag went something like:
"I know that my face ain't no star.
but, I don't mind it.
because I'm behind it.
It's the folks in front get the jar.
Har har."
Or something close to that.
I just rearrange my whiskers according to the weather. Currently I'm in the White Trash, Biker, Buffalo Bill form.
Summer Whiskers:
Funny, Tex..

remind me again why I would want to beat the women off?
Happy Birthday, Wheel! What can I say? You look amazing!
You're still a young'un, Wheel. But I like you anyhow. I was 65 on the 20th of June. Unfortunately my other half passed away on the 19th, he was 58.
I am very sorry for your lose.
Thank you!
