The photo was taken last night at 8pm from my deck. The storms had past and Mother Nature gave us a view of her gentle side and Table Rock Lake. The last few days have not seen her gentle side.
In my youth, I spent many summers in Kansas working on farms to earn money to put myself through college. During the tornado and storm season, I would sit outside on grandma's porch and watch the strange clouds swirling over head and often I could see spiral shapes taking form. They are beautiful and frightening at the same time.
Lightening storms are my favorite. One evening I watched as a huge cloud moved across the landscape. It looked like some huge creature walking along on many electric legs. The lightening never stopped and it was a bright as day for a while.
We humans try to capture these images on film and we do capture something. But, is just isn't the same. These photos are great reminders. Thanks for posting them.
These images serve as a photo-journalistic record of what will undoubtedly be regarded as an historical meteorological even and disaster; that makes them special!
Broliver, no need to apologize for the middle distance silhouetted shapes; they add dimension and contrast -- and you even placed them on the bottom horizontal third of the composition making your image a winner!
We, as humans are pretty helpless except to cause enormous harm to others. When the earth decides to do something, it does it, and we can't do much to stop it.
It's a shame that we can't seem to remember that. (I just got off an article about the Gulf Spill. I can't even speak calmly enough about that disaster to make sense.)
Lovely sunset, Kavika. We all need to peace and beauty of a simple sunset!
thanks Kavika I will post one from my deck at the lake of the Ozarks if I can get up early enough. I loved fishing on table rock when i lived in Branson. I had a condo on Table rock by Indian Point.
I did timeshare and land marketing there for years and then moved on my last gig there was Stonebridge Village. Still have a lot of friends there including my old partner. My second heart attack was attended to at Skaggs 4 stents and a pat on the ass out the door. did you attend the vine meeting there a couple of years ago. I sadly missed it.
Since the storm passed, we've had rain everyday since. The last two years were drought years here, so the rain is welcome. Anymore though, I'm sending it your way.
I see Calforina has a huge fire going on right now, over 19,000 acres.
That California is really being destructive. Our firefighters here in NM are often Native Americans, it's a fairly large percentage. Best firefighters ever and dedicated, too.
Enjoy the beauty of nature.
Breath taking!
Just added another below that was taken about 15 minutes earlier Leona.
Wow! I really enjoy how the sun streaks through the clouds. There is nothing more beautiful than the views that nature provides.
I really like the view on the right side, where the trees look like there on fire. It's the sunset behind them giving this effect.
Happy that you enjoyed them leona.
I call this one ''The Fingers of the Creator''...
Very appropriate!!!! That's the streaks that I see.
Sorry about the clutter in the middle distance in this one.... This was taken on the 20th, after the bulk of the storm had passed just to north.

What an amazing shot. Like water color in the sky.
Thanks Perrie, Mac has gotten me started with the photo taking. Maybe someday I'll get an actual camera, these are all shot with my cell phone.
That's a beauty Broliver, I especially like the cloud formation on the left side.
Your welcome Grump. No, we can't replace the real thing that Mother Nature does, but the photos really are great reminders.

VEry nice images folks.
Lightning is the desert can be amazing. I seen them a number of times, and each time was a real experience.
Thanks One Miscreant.
Thanks Suz, I was really excitied that I got a fairly good photo of it.
No, but it sure is pretty.

Would love to see one of Lake of the Ozarks...We lived in a condo at Indian Point while we were building our house on Table Rock.

I have friends that live in Stonebridge..
Yes, I attended the vine meet. It was at the Kimberling Marina in Kimberling City, and had a great time. Sorry that you missed it.
Hopefully we'll have another soon. Hope you will be able to attend.
Lovely view, Kavika. Only in nature can a ferocious storm be followed by such tranquil calm!
I can see the smoke from here.
Send that rain out our way.
It is really amazing, the difference that a couple of hours can make Neetu.

They have their own web pages.
Yup, Indians have a long history of being fire fighters grump. Info most people don't know. Thanks for the link.
