I found all of my pictures!!!!
I thought that I would simply say that the loss of my picture files when my other computer gave up the ghost was a really nasty blow.
I don't know what took me back to the News vine but I happened to stop by there this morning and brought up my personal page and as I scanned my way down through the entries I kept coming across all of the pictures that I had posted there. This is outstanding because I never gave a second thought that they were still there but they area all there including some of the pictures that I took after retiring and scrounged the old back roads there.I have been busy copying them over here and when I figure out how to manage them without a photo editing program I will burn them to CDs. Even my cut stone churches & monuments--everything. Kinda like I struck gold.
Got one happy camper here good folks!!
Tink , Thanks a lot. I Have no idea right now but I was looking about for something to do and figured that it had been a long while since I had visited over there so went. When I got there I looked at all of the subjects they had going and said what the heck I'll look at my home page. When I started going down all of the entries that I had started over there suddenly my flood pictures started coming up and it was off to the races. I am just copying them over for now and will figure out just how to refine then once they are all here. My daughter has asked me not to chuck out my old belly up Dell because she thinks that she can recover it.So it sits in the corner. This isn't a bad computer but these Lenovo people are plain miserable to work with. I asked about deleting some of their "Bloat ware" and was pointedly ignored. Of course the only thing I bought was the CPU as all of the Dell Peripherals are still rock solid. I had never heard of these people until I was forced to buy the replacement. The Dell died in the morning and I was up and running by nightfall. They have just loaded this down with so much junk that I am at a loss as to just which I can safely delete. That's gonna be fun. Be well.
I started to do that, Charles B , and when I hit delete the people at Lenovo said that they were tied to the system and would impact it. I'm not the brightest bulb in the lamp, especially where these things are concerned and rely upon the integrity of the people I am dealing with not to lead me astray. I have come not to trust these people mostly because they keep showing up in m system where I don't feel they have any right to be. They even tried to take control of my Home Page. It'll be a month since I bought this thing and I think that some of them will self destruct at the time. Thanks for the advice and I will look into paint. The funny thing is that many of Microsoft's own earlier programs are not compatible with Windows 8 and it is not backwards compatible either. Dealing with that and the tech people at Levono leaves a lot to be desired, for sure and that tells you that if I ever have to buy another computer that Levono will not be that system.
Great timing. I know you've got some nice old car pictures in there and Mac just put up a classic car article.
I'm really happy for you Tsula! There is nothing like getting back a keepsake that you thought was long gone. Make sure that you keepmultiplecopies of all!
Tink,
I was with NV for 3 years before I didn't like what NV was becoming... just a bit earlier than the rest of you. Have no worries. Everyone who left NV for NT would never let it become that we fled from.
Great news tusla...I remember almost all of the photos you published. The ones of the flood were really something, and if I remember right there was one of you out in the hay field. Is my memory still OK?
I understand! GREAT!!! I'm so glad!
I've done the same thing...
Make sure you copy them to the CD's and keep in a safe place where the CD's won't get damaged. Hard drives aren't safe.
I looked for them TTGA but could not find them. I'll look again.
Thanks Perrie, I had given up hope of finding them and this was truly a happysurprise.
wado Kavika! That was a picture taken in 1938 and I don't really know who took it but great to find it again. tsula
I'll do that for sure Sixpick!
Thanks Dowser Seems like we do walk the same paths, doesn't it?
Charles B , This is a desktop not a laptop. I went to the Levono website and asked for the OS CD and was told that if I wanted it it would cost me 45 bucks. It is real easy for those of you who truly know what you are doing in this environment to say do this or do that but for those of us who thrash about in the wilderness it is tantamount to systemssuicide. I will check out the site you have given me here with my thanks.
Are you lucky or what? Great going. I bet you I have seen them all. Great find, tsula.
Thanks Grump and I'll bet that you have seen them all too. I wasn't able to find my story on the Woodies though but that is no great loss but I sure did love that old car. I uncovered some of my old ramblings into the back roads there and am moving them over. Spring and Fall in that area are just spectacular while winter is too dumb cold and summer is way too hot! I'm going to be busy for a few days but this will be worth it.
Looking forward to it. Grump is still runnin'. No safe place to hide. They're everywhere, they're everywhere.
You can run but you can not hide!! We are indeed, everywhere. Ain't it amazing that for a people suffering from hundreds of years of government sanctioned genocide that we are still out and about rubbing salt into their wounds?
By the by, between you and I, this is the day that the old man reached the dreaded 4 score and 8. Now there's a April Fool for ya!
YAY! That's awesome! Having had some scares and a few lost photos files myself I relate on the joy of finding photos lost.
So was it a happy birthday for you, tsula? I think that is what you are saying here. So, that was an awesome present for you to find. Sometimes, ya gotta wonder about timing and all............I'm very happy for you.
Like you, tsula, I don't always understand all of the particulars on computer stuff. But what I DO see is that everyone here gave some really helpful advice wherever possible.
Don't worry, we never wander in the wilderness alone, Fin/tsula. Always a pleasure to have a greeting from you. Very nice article and with great responses!!
Happy Birthday, tsula, and many more. A birthday on April 1st. Now that has been interesting for you, I bet.
Yep! There aren't too many people who get to pick their birthdates for sure. My Mother remembered that I was born, on the rez,in the spring but could not remember the exact date so we/I settled on April 1st which conveniently made me 16 & 6 the requirement for enlistment at the time, 1942. The rest, as they say, has been history! That being said, I have reached the 88 year plateau.
Happy Birthday my dear friend. It was been a honor knowing you for the past few years.
My birthday was chosen much the same as yours. Knew the month but not the date, so we settled on 4/26...
I'm not at all sure that this will work and if it doesn't please mark it down to exploration, OK?
Last Year on Easter Sunday my Daughter & Sil saw this on their way to church. She said that she just had to take a picture of these growing in the wild.
Good for you! I had a computer melt-down as well and got in a professional to pull my photos off a badly infected hard-drive. Problem is I'm still afraid that the disk he made me is infected, too!
That is exactly my problem here, Boudicea ! I did a full system backup to a stand alone hard drive that I bought for just the idea of backing up of my system. Problem now is that I'm afraid to try and recover that backup to this computer because if it is infected I'll bring the bug into a brand new system and I sure can't afford to be buying new systems every other month!I have scanned the stand alone with a couple of my security scanners, Ccleaner, and Malwarebytes, and both say that the files are not infected but, I'm just not sure.
I have put the old system into the box that this one came in and sealed it and it stands in the corner. I'm thinking that somewhere down the road I'll turn it over to a expert with these things and see what he/she says. In the meantime I sit and swear at the makers, Levono, of this system, because they have been less than helpful when I go to their Tech Support people asking for assistance. The upshot of each venture is that they can help me but it will cost me. All I wanted from them then, and now, is a listing of the Bloatware that they offloaded on to me and an assurance that I can delete them. No good but for 99 bucks they'll assign someone to help me solve the problem that they created. Next time I'll bite the time bullet and wait for Dell.
This no place for the ignorant, for sure!
