Atmospheric Perspective ... From an Artistic/Photographic Standpoint, I Love Being in a Fog
Aerial perspective or atmospheric perspective refers to the effect the atmosphere has on the appearance of an object as it is viewed from a distance. As the distance between an object and a viewer increases, the contrast between the object and its background decreases, and the contrast of any markings or details within the object also decreases. The colours of the object also become less saturated and shift towards the background color, which is usually blue, but under some conditions may be some other color (for example, at sunrise or sunset distant colors may shift towards red).
I have not MIST many opportunities to take photographs in fog ... here are a number of images from a recent shoot.
1) This and some of the following images may be variations of those in my last article; I rarely settle for one shot of a scene that has potential, usually I'll vary the zoom, metering and make several exposure compensations. The subtle differences in composition and lighting are often quite rewarding.
2) Indian grass and tree skeletons in a morning mist.
3) I cannot resist such places ... especially not when the clouds touch down on a forest floor.
5) Thirty feet from where I stood when taking this picture, the fog began to conceal the stems of Indian Grass.
6) The now unused railroad bridge in the distance takes on a mysterious aura in the fog
7) "I am the light of the world." (John 8:12)
8) "Eventually, all things merge into one ... and a river runs through it. (Norman Maclean)

These are dreamlike and haunting Mac. I would like to walk down the path, or explore the woods. This is just some of your best work ever. I'm sorry that I am not as poetic as some others here, but each one of these are special.
If you're ever in the neighborhood ... or, in the Poconos ... I'll be your personal guide.
Lots of trails, woods, streams, lakes ...
I'm gonna take you up on that Mac one of these days!
I can see the quiet ...
max,
I once attended the Ichabod Crane School of Haunting Hosts ...
I was in the Gifted-Slow track.
Well, I once read a book.
It was called "The Old Man and the"
I think I would call those great shots "phogographs".
"Ever After: A Cinderella Story"
I will never fogget your adeptly-coined term.
I am all misty.
Thank you Buzz
Holy Shit! All those famous gun-toting cowboys in one shot!!!
