Chicago Cubs Win, Head For National League Championship Series
Cub fans cheer Anthony Rizzo go-ahead home run.

CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago Cubs clinched a postseason series at Wrigley Field for the first time ever, getting home runs from Kyle Schwarber , Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez in beating the St. Louis Cardinals 6-4 Tuesday to win the NL Division Series in four games.
A day after hitting a postseason-record six homers, the Cubs hammered their way into the NL Championship Series by taking the best-of-five set before a rollicking crowd.
Manager Joe Maddon's bunch of wild-card Cubs will face the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers-New York Mets matchup. The Mets took a 2-1 lead into Game 4 Tuesday night.
The Cubs last reached the NLCS in 2003, when they lost in seven games to the Marlins. Chicago dropped those final two at home, including the infamous Bartman defeat in Game 6.
Wrigley Field hosted its first Cubs game in 1916, eight years after they last won the World Series.
For people who don't follow baseball, or the Cubs, the white flag with the blue "W", is hoisted to the top of a flagpole on the centerfield scoreboard every time the Cubs win that day's game. The flag can be seen throughout the Wrigley Field neighborhood.
First time I've seen an ariel view of Wrigley - it must be hell for the neighbours because of parked cars when a game is on.
That you and Obama live in Chicago is good enough to keep the jinx going awhile.
Awesome series and win, way to go Cubies! It was a great celebration following too,,,much deserved!
I never paid much attention to baseball, living in Toronto, until the Blue Jays formed a franchise there, which is when I became an avid fan. I held 4 season seats behind home plate - learned to love the game, was there when Joe Carter hit the home run that won the series and experienced the pandemonium of joy. I started to think of baseball as being a spiritual experience - in the way that James Earl Jones explained it in "Field of Dreams". Then when the players went on strike - it shattered whatever I had started to believe, and I let my season's tickets go.
Only now that the Jays are moving on to the American League championship series have I become excited about baseball again, but my greatest wish is to see the Cubs meet the Jays in the World Series, and to prove that it is baseball and not being a "homer" that drives me, it would be a thrill to see either of those teams win it all.
Congratulations, Cubs! I hope they win it all!
