A photo trip to Florence and Venice

A photo trip to Florence and Venice

My step-daughter, who is studying at a university in Germany (and I fear for her life and safety because of Merkel's migrant policy), recently went on a vacation with some classmates to Italy. She is becoming quite a good photographer - I have not done any editing of these photos - they are exactly as extracted from her camera and emailed to me.  The first two were taken in Florence and the rest in Venice.

Great photos Buzz. I really like the last two of the sunset.

Wonderful pictures!  Your step-daughter is very good with her camera!

Thanks for posting these-- I know I have seen that bridge in paintings...  I always wondered where it was!

Dowser,

I believe that bridge is called the Rialto.  At one end is the building housing the Venetian stock exchange.  The bridge is said to be where stock deals have been made and gossip about financial matters exchanged for over 500 years.  Hence, the phrase from Shakespeare, "What news on the Rialto?"  (From The Merchant of Venice I think.  Not sure, though, it's been a long time since I studied Shakespeare.)

Beautiful pictures!

I have traveled in Italy - a fabulous place to vacation - and the opportunities to witness beauty (natural and manmade) seems endless.

And the food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your daughter has inherited your outstanding ability to create photo essays!

The two areas of art history with which I am most familiar and enamored are 19th Century American landscape and Italian Renaissance … to which Florence and Venice contributed the most.
