Is Christmas A Religious Holiday, Or A Secular Holiday ?

I know that it is "both" depending on who you are talking to and the context of the conversation, but for the purposes of this discussion I would like to stick to the proposal that Christmas is either more religious than secular or more secular than religious.

I also want the opinion to be yours, and not what you think other people would say. Of course , everyone is free to say that it is both and give their reasons.

In my opinion in America the holiday is more secular. I would base that on the amount of time people spend in secular activities at Christmas compared to religious, but more importantly, the way the broader culture presents Christmas in movies, songs, tv shows, social media etc. The most popular Christmas movies do not have a religious theme, they have a Santa Claus theme (unless you equate SC with JC, which I suppose some people do, and the most popular Christmas songs are secular in theme (White Christmas, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, The Christmas Song, All I Want For Christmas Is You) although Silent Night and The Little Drummer Boy etc are also popular too.

Now we can say, a national holiday should be secular, but the basis for the day is the birth of a religious figure, no ?

Clearly more religious.  It wouldn't exist as a holiday at all if not for Christianity.  It is after all the celebration of the 1st advent, the birth of Christ.

let's not forget Oh Holy Night and of course the holy anthem of Christianity, Hallelujah Chorus.
