How small.
How vast these Orbs must be, and how inconsiderable this Earth, the Theatre upon which all our mighty Designs, all our Navigations, and all our Wars are transacted, is compared to them. A very fit consideration, and matter of Reflection, for those Kings and Princes who sacrifice the Lives of so many People, only to flatter their Ambition in being Masters of some pitiful corner of this small Spot.

The problems we have here on Earth pale...
If only intelligent life existed here.
It must exist somewhere, but you're right, not much here on Earth. Maybe they're intelligent enough to just stay away from us as not worth the effort.
I like it Randy.
I love that quote! It puts war and politics and such into their place. And it travels well through the centuries. It sure fits today. I got it from Dr. Carl Sagan's book "Cosmos", which I just finished re-reading.
