I have a standard picture of the Great Spangled Fritilary that I took, years ago, but this is fabulous! I love the dear birds... They look so bright eyed!

Great pictures, dear friend!

The shot of the butterfly at that angle is a brilliant perspective rarely, if ever, seen. It allows us to focus on the head rather than the usual wing shot.

Aren't their eyes unusual? I don't think I've ever seen a picture of a butterfly's eye...

As Butterfly eyes go, pretty standard; humans don't usually get close enough to notice.

I know it sounds strange to say so, but I don't think I have ever before noticed a butterfly's eyes. It seems that my attention was always focused on the wings, and I never really gave the body a second look save to be aware of its general shape and its legs.

Pretty much; the proboscis is inserted in one of the flowers lunch time!
