Hi Mac - Happy Saturday!!!!

So I wanted to let you know that there is something definitely going on with Neetu's access.  I am getting emails with her responses but when I go to this location her comments are not here.   I can certainly understand her frustration especially when she has dedicated time to a collaboration but her posts are not making it here and there is a false impression that she isn't responding.  Anyhow, I wanted to let you know what I'm seeing from a bystander's point of view.

Thank you for that, PJ. I have since been told that Neetu had posted a suggested poem for my photo, but not only did I never see it, I complained to A.Mac that I could not find it nor see it and I made that clear even online, and  that I did not wish to wait any longer. Obviously there has been a communication problem and I hope it does not lead to hard feelings.

Buzz; Obviously there has been a communication problem and I hope it does not lead to hard feelings.

A-mac;  A very helpful message … many thanks.

Neetu, if you're listing, your problem might be because your profile settings got changed to private.  I've noticed that members post not showing up except in email notifications in the past could be fixed by opening up their profile to the public.

Several times, over the last month or so, my notification settings got changed to "none", for some reason, and had to be changed back.

Perhaps something like that has happened to your settings.

Just a thought.

Here's how it will work.

Once a photo or poem is posted with a request for collaboration

1) Any member can post a COLLABORATIVE COUNTER PART … IMAGE or POEM

2) NO OBSCENITY/PORNOGRAPHY/OFFENSIVE IMAGES OR TEXT WILL BE CONSIDERED

3) UNLESS OTHERWISE REQUESTED BY AN IMAGE/POETRY CONTRIBUTOR, A. MAC WILL COMBINE THE TWO COMPONENTS INTO THE FINISHED COLLABORATION AND POST IT IN A STAND-ALONE ARTICLE THAT WILL FIRST APPEAR ON THE FRONT PAGE.

I am open to suggestions so don't hesitate.

It will be done … if more than one poem, etc. is posted, there may be more than one collaborative version.

Mac, how about if a short story is posted, and then photos added to it?

Mac, how about if a short story is posted, and then photos added to it?

I won't say "no," but I don't want to get into editing should that be necessary.

Logistically, where would photos be placed in the story? That's a whole other can of worms. And the stories would have to authored by the member posting it … otherwise we could have copyright issues.

But we can try one … what I'd like to avoid is breaking up paragraphs, place photos then having to repost the entirety … I have done that as an editor/author/publisher -- time and judgement are real issues.

But again, let's try one. If the story could stand alone and a "Book Cover" type image could be created and posted as a comment, that could work.

I think that I have one written where the ''book cover'' would work fine. Let me find it again and I'll email it to you, Mac.

In terms of formatting and logistics, if I receive a short story via NT Private Notes, I can likely design a "book cover" type graphic to post above the short story … the entirety would appear as an article/discussion with comments going to the FP.

Let's give it shot.

Kavika,

Remember the story about you riding the boxcar to Duluth?  I think that one is perfect for visual enhancement.  Visualize it in terms of pictures that would be used by Norman Rockwell.

This is my bastardization of "I thought that I should never see a poem lovely as a tree."

No matter where I walk or roam,

I see a tree that's like a poem.

Should be lots of photo choices for that one.

No problem, Neetu; Buzz requested a poem and I put up the "calling Neetu" as a response.

When looking for this particular Forum, just go to the FORUMS link in the heading on any page and scroll down to the "COLLABORATIVE ARTS FORUM" and click to be here.

Later today I will format the collaboration and post it after both you and Buzz give your approvals.

Thanks, Mac. Buzz has to approve of the poem first so I will stop by later to check if he does. It might be best to wait until he approves before you work on the collaboration, right?

Hi Buzz, I am so sorry I didn't know you were looking for me to come up with a poem for this image! I get so lost on NT these days and can never find the right forum when I come here.

Let me dwell on the image for a while. Poems don't necessarily come to me when I want them to; they come when I am least expecting them. But I shall steal this photo from here and try to think of a verse to go with it. I hope you are the patient sort!

I have created a short poem for Buzz's image - it is a rush production, so feel free to ask me to change or create a new one.

You and I

Your hand in mine,

the horizon before our eyes,

we walk by the ocean side.

Together now,

we surf upon waves--

the crest and trough of tides;

two hearts, intertwined.

Buzz,

I think if you post either an image requesting a poem, or, a poem requesting an image … either as a stand alone article in the Collaboration Forum, that will be the most efficient an effective way to start the process toward a finished collaboration.

Unless otherwise requested, I will do the layout/formatting; once all the collaborators agree on the finished collaboration, it will be posted as its own article.

Buzz, I am sorry I don't know what is happening here! Did you not see the poem I posted for you???It was yesterday as soon as I saw you wanted a poem. I don't understand. Are you offended?

You know what? I am not going to bother with this anymore! If there is a problem with seeing what is posted, I cannot say, but in general I put time and effort into something, the least I expect is a response of some sort. I even offered to change or alter it if you wanted. But all I see here is this short note from you, Buzz, saying

"Forget it. I did my own." That is RUDE and totally unacceptable.

Would that not lead to there being an article posted with an unfinished collaboration AND ANOTHER article posted with the finished one - an unnecessary redundancy?

To avoid that situation, I'm going to post a protocol for

WHEN MORE THAN TWO MEMBERS ARE INVOLVED IN A SINGLE COLLABORATION

1) If/when ONE MEMBER POSTS AN IMAGE and REQUESTS THAT …

2) A SECOND MEMBER PROVIDE A POEM, THOUGHT, ETC. to be combined with that image requiring …

3) A THIRD MEMBER (usually but not necessarily myself) to do LAYOUT/FORMATTING in order to COMPLETE A COLLABORATION …

4) THE IMAGE/REQUEST FOR COLLABORATION SHOULD BE SENT TO ME (A. MAC) VIA NT PRIVATE NOTES; I WILL THEN POST THE IMAGE AND REQUEST AS A NEW DISCUSSION AND DIRECT THAT ALL POETRY, ETC. ALSO BE SENT TO ME VIA NT PRIVATE NOTES.

5) The IMAGE AND POEM WILL BE FORMATTED BY A. MAC AND THE COLLABORATIVE ITEM WILL BE SENT TO BOTH MEMBERS VIA NT PRIVATE NOTES FOR THEIR APPROVAL; upon the approval of both members, A NEW DISCUSSION WILL BE POSTED FEATURING THE COLLABORATION.*

*  Every effort to approve the first draft will be greatly appreciated!

And, I also sent a note to Mac because I couldn't send one to you for some reason, saying that I was working on the poem yesterday morning, but clearly it was a waste of my time. I really have a lot more to do in life than spend time fulfilling requests that are not acknowledged.
