3D Mammals Crafted with Complex Paper Folding
Beautiful caricatures and incredible skill in the making of them
Buenos Aires-based illustrators and art directors known collectively as Estudio Guardabosques craft fantastic mammals using only paper. Their ongoing series imagines a fox, racoon, tiger, and more as 3D, angular forms. Guardabosques low-poly technique means a simplification of details - we dont see any eyes, whiskers, or subtle variations in fur. But, its incredible that with just simple folds in paper, theyve captured the essence of each animal. The tiger bares its teeth as the fox slinks away.
While this type of sculpture doesnt need a lot of tools, it does require careful engineering. Guardabosques folded the paper at just the right angles to convincingly express form. Sometimes, this means that an intricate snout or an arched back features several small, complex shapes. Coupled with larger, broad folds, this balance makes for an easily-recognizable creature.

A musician and does origami - a talented guy
He's a good kid-- and, of course, I love him...
He loves to make things, and creates beautiful Chinese pictures with the writing down the sides. He is studying Japanese and Chinese and has a real knack for it. Me? I can't pronounce it if my life depended on it. I took German.

It has been my experience that talented and creative people excel in multiple areas and n sounds like another one who does several artistic things well.
I am good with languages but never much of a talent with music or other artistic pursuits.
I have seen some pretty good examples of origami here in China, but never anything as superb as those.

I was always impressed with the simple look of origami, knowing full well that the intricate folding process was well thought out and complicated process.
