Looking Back

Heading up to the Pocono Mountains and into the forests to see if I can re-locate this little gem of a stream … and then see if it is part of a stream I already know (at a point where it's more accessible).

I'll go in with a camera and a fly rod this time …

“Never look back unless you are planning to go that way.”
―  Henry David Thoreau

That's the plan … at least for the next couple of days.

Fly fishing - that's an art in itself.  Yes, please bring back more pictures!  Oh......and enjoy your time with nature!

I hope you have a wonderful break!  You deserve it!

Thanks for sharing such a lovely picture with us-- I wish I could be there, too!  I promise I know how to fish and won't scare them away!  You have to approach them downwind, so they don't smell you, no noise, at all, peek over the rock at the water, don't let them see you, etc.  I used to fish with Daddy, and was a good girl...  winking

If you listen closely the trees and creek are talking to you, Mac.

If you listen closely the trees and creek are talking to you, Mac.

I learned that years ago.

Anyone who has not experienced the deep woods … should put it on their bucket list.

Good night; hope to take and share some new pix of forest interiors and mountain streams … a few trout photos would be nice as well.

You would love it here Mac. This tree is named Manidou Gizigans (Spirit little cedar tree). It sits on the north shore of Gitchi Gumi (Lake Superior). It's around 400 years old and when you journey across to Port Royal or some of the other islands it's customary to make an offering of tobacco to insure a safe journey across some very dangerous water.

"...it's customary to make an offering of tobacco to insure a safe journey across some very dangerous water."

Perhaps the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald forgot to do so.

I'm sure that the did forget Buzz, sadly they paid the price. Gitchi Gumi doesn't give up her dead.

"Gitchi Gumi doesn't give up her dead..."

...When the skies of November turn gloomy.
