"Sunday's game at Wrigley Field didn't want to end. The Chicago Cubs also didn't want to pitch to Bryce Harper .
The Washington Nationals outfielder became the first player in MLB history with seven plate appearances and zero official at-bats. He walked six times, three intentional, and was hit by a pitch. The six walks tied the MLB record also held by three other players.
Though Cubs ace Jake Arrieta was chased after five innings, the Cubs got the last laugh with Javier Baez's walk-off homer in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Cubs a 4-3 win. Though Arrieta (6-0, 0.84 ERA) took a no-decision Sunday, he still has more no-hitters (2) in his last 26 regular-season starts than losses (1). "
Some say the Cubs were afraid of Harper, but the strategy worked. The Cubs won the game.
Very Cool! I love baseball!
JOHN!!!! I told you I didn't want to talk about the cubs and the nats tonight. I'm trying to recover. lol
Yes, the strategy worked. The Nat's are going to have to reconsider who bats after Harper. Zimmerman's game is on and off and Murphy's game is pretty solid but he's a lefty and generally you don't want to put two lefties back to back. Worth does good where he's batting so I wouldn't move him in the line up. Murphy has made some fielding errors during this season. Last night's hiccup cost us a double play.
Don't worry. You get a few days of beating up on my Detroit Tigers. They're great for another team to get momentum back.
