PANDA BEARS ARE FUN TO WATCH

PANDA BEARS ARE FUN TO WATCH

My brother, who is 4 years older than me, came and stayed with us for a week, and a few days ago we took him to see the Panda Centre, where the cubs are born and raised.   I live in Chengdu, in Sichuan Province, which is where the reserve is for that endangered species. Lots of bamboo grows here, which is what Panda Bears eat.

China lends Panda Bear couples to the Zoos of many countries. I know that there is a pair at the Zoo in Toronto, and I’m sure there must be at least a couple in the USA. They are not sold or given away, and only lent for a term of years. As well, it is expected that if they produce a cub it will be sent to China when the bears are returned.

3.    The park is quite beautiful.

4.    The ponds contain many goldfish.

512

5.    These flowers should be familiar to everyone.

6.    The daddy bear on display has the same family name as the President of China.

7.   And here's daddy!

8.   But it's the cubs that get most of the attention.

512

9.     They love to climb, and just hang out.

 512

10.     They play just like other wild animals.

 512

11.    Their antics get filmed.

14.   That's all, folks.

Unfortunately I don't know how to post films that I can take with my camera, because still pictures don't really do justice to show how those cubs played around.

I love the statue and the Indian Blankets, Buzz.

What a great series of photos of Panda's, well done.

So I guess Kavika and I are the only NT members on "This Site" interested enough about Panda bears to make a comment. I wonder if the members of NV would care enough to do so.

I love to watch Pandas!  I have a web cam site devoted solely to pandas, and watch it occasionally, which always boosts my spirits!  They are so adorable!  The pictures are adorable!  Good job!

Sorry that it took me so long to get here-- I had trouble finding the article!

Beautiful!

Thanks for sharing Buzz; I've never seen a panda in person, this is a treat.

Very much so, but they're still wild animals. I have a story about a man (who must have been drunk or high) who entered a pen and hugged a grown Panda. He ended up in the hospital.

The fully grown pandas are not nearly as playful ...

I think Pandas look adorable too, but my late Mom was a Koala Bear fan and I never disagreed with my mother...much. Koalas are always a little stoned because they only eat eucalyptus leaves, which are a mild narcotic and would explain why they sleep 18 to 20 hours a day.

Buzz, I was stationed in D.C. form 85-93 and the Panda Bears at the D.C. Zoo were constantly in the paper, especially when the female finally became pregnant-it was front page stuff!

Wonderful pictures Buzz! You are so lucky to have so many pandas near you. They are just darling.

BTW, do you know that the word "Pandemonium" was invented by a British paper, to describe the huge turnouts in England, when pandas came to the London Zoo?  Just a fun fact.

No, I didn't know the origin of the word 'pandemonium' - thanks for the info.
